I come here pretty frequently and I've never really had an issue with the food, nor the staff or pricing. I always order the beef bowl, which has beef atop white rice with sauce and sesame seeds and I've never had an issue with my order before. The price is pretty good for what you're getting and it's usually pretty worth it. I've never actively had an issue with any of the staff, they've always been nice to me when ordering and paying though I can imagine others having issues. It's a good place to just grab a bite to eat, especially if you're down for some takeout. It's a chill place to pop into, grab some food, pay, and move on. The interior is pretty nice, considering the building size and intended audience, though it's kind of small if you've got a larger party- though there is seating outdoors. I I recommend it to people that have a preference for this kind of food and I also recommend checking out their menu online beforehand just to ensure there's something you'd like, I recommend to most people I know. read more

I'm not one of those people who enjoys writing painful reviews, but today I am compelled. I am gobsmacked that this place has an average rating of 4 stars. My adult daughter & I, who both know great Japanese food, were appalled at what we got for a not insignificant price. The tempura was basically heavily breaded & greasy (including a slab of white potato instead of sweet potato), the sushi combo plate included overcooked gyoza & was sad in quality overall. The place is not particularly clean, our table especially, & the service lackadaisical. I love seeing local businesses succeed & try to patronize them, but this place isn't even trying. Yet they seem to be making it. Bottom line: if you have a minimum quality expectation of Japanese cuisine, keep looking. We're people who don't treat ourselves to eating out all that often & our excitement at trying a new place in town was dashed. read more

What a great alternative to fast food. They have a great variety on the menu but I almost always order the Chicken noodle bowl with veggies. I eat here at least once a month with my daughters and we always share an order of edaname. I also like being able to eat outside on the tables out in front. read more

Their food is amazing and unbeatable price. I always get the veggie noodles. Udon noodles stir fried with veggies in their homemade teriyaki sauce. SO GOOD! On top of that get their sesame chicken and you've got the perfect meal. The chicken is hot and crispy while juicy on the inside. it's the best chicken I've had anywhere hands down. We live a long way away from this place but would NEVER drive through Placerville without stopping. My wife and the owner catch up on how the kids are doing and we eat a chicken noodle bowl. For those of us who grew up on Campbell's chicken noodle soup, this seems like a terrible name for a fabulous meal. First, it is huge. More than any one person should eat for a meal but we eat it all anyway. Next, the udon noodles are just perfect. Fat and soft but not slimy. Then add just the right amount of grilled chicken and fresh veggies, mostly broccoli and cabbage. Finally, the broth is rich and delicious. Not too much so it is not really like soup. We pay the extra 25 cents to make it spicy. The best spent money of the day. Do not miss Teriyaki Junction if you are in Placerville. Ignore any of the negative comments you see on Yelp. They must have had too much sun while snow boarding or something. read more

They used to be fantastic. I don't know what happened but the quality of the food changed. The salmon has been dry the last 3 times I ordered it. They are more skimpy on the teriyaki sauce and the flavor is not as good as it used to be. Even the rice is dry. I wish they would go back to the way they used to be. Stopped here on the way home from a road trip, was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. So honestly the food is alright, not authentic Japanese at all but still very tasty. What got the high review was the staff personality. After 8 hours of windy wet roads we were tired and a little cranky, however, the staff were very friendly and more than happy to accommodate to our needs. We order some more food after already getting our meals which they let us pay for at the end since we were already eating. We had also brought in our own water bottles to fill up for the rest of the ride, in our haste to leave we forgot one at the table. The guy, that I think was the owner, rushed out to give us our bottle however we had gone next door for some ice cream and he couldn't find us. When we were finally leaving we walked by the front of the restaurant and he came running out with our bottle. It was a very kind thing to do. We went there for dinner when stopped in Placerville during our back trip from lake Tahoe. It was so great! The place is quite simple, but the food is super-delicious, with a great variety of choices. I am a vegetarian and my husband prefers meat - and we both found excellent options. This is just your standard noodle and rice-bowl restaurant. Everything is consistently good and I am always very pleased with my meals here. However, the really great thing about this place is their Korean specialties. I love the bulgogi and bibimbap. They also make an excellent home-made kimchi. This is the only place I know of in Placerville where you can get good real kimchi and bulgogi. read more

Wow, I've had poor meals, but I got stuck on this one. The Tempura was battered with the same heavy gunk from their fish and chips outlet next door. The gyoza(sp?) were fresh from the Grocery Outlet freezer section. The dressing on the salad was the same poor oil/vinegar trash they give you for the tempura, and the juice with the meat could never, ever be accused of being a sauce. My pork was the same size of my cat's friskies shaved strips except the friskies didn't have cabbage in there as filler. I can't give this a lower ranking. After Sacramento and Bay Area Japanese, this should be avoided at all costs. A disaster. Blah, yuk, one of the few places I really wanted my money back and an apology for almost killing my desire to open my mouth for food ever again. read more

The first time we ate at this restaurant was very good. the second time was a few days ago and it was really bad. I had ordered lemon chicken, and what I got was a big bowl of rice with old looking breaded chicken over it and teriyaki sauce . There was not even a hint of lemon in it. My husband had ordered a bento box, which was just okay, the food looked old and definitely not fresh made. We will not be back. read more

This place is awful. The tempura batter was heavy and greasy, like it didn't even use Panko. It tasted like a flour and grease ball. Yuk. Sauces were deplorable. Weak, watery, and nasty tasting. Yuk again. Teriyaki was some sort of unidentifiable shreds of something.... have to agree with that guy who said it looked like cat food. It looked like cat food. I'm a local.
