If you know sushi in El Dorado Hills, you know Sky Sushi has been a go to for a reason. This used to be my regular spot when I was living in the area, right down the street from Serrano. Lunch, dinner, it didn't matter. It was always the easy choice because you knew you were getting quality every time. Zeev runs a great place. The fish is fresh, the cuts are right, and you can tell there's real care behind what's being served. The toro and hamachi kama were always my favorites. Not every place does those well, but here they were consistently on point. What really made it stand out though was the people. Zeev's wife is amazing. She's always making sure everyone is taken care of, checking in, and creating that kind of environment where you feel welcomed, not just served. In my opinion, this is the best spot in the EDH area when it comes to sushi and fish quality. That consistency is what kept me coming back. I've since moved, so I haven't been able to go as often, but this was one of those places that stayed in rotation for a long time. For me, it's a solid 4.5 out of 5. I ordered two rolls, the Shrimp Tease which had a shrimp tempura base with unagi, and the Hawaiian which was slightly spicy but with fresh tuna and avocado. For me, the tempura shrimp in the Shrimp Tease was overcooked and chewy. For the price point, I would say the sushi is acceptable but not at all traditional, mostly American Japanese fusion geared towards a suburban palate. The rolls were very thinly sliced, which is unusual but nice because you get more bites. My friend got the chirashi (sp?) bowl which has a lot of different types of fish. The fish was fresh. The menu is mostly specialty rolls with crab, shrimp tempura, and spicy tuna. I asked about getting a simpler roll but was told it would still be $14, so the specialty rolls make more sense. They all have strange, punny names that don't relate to the ingredients. Overall, we felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food and not exactly what we were expecting but it had open seating for a group of 8 on a Friday night. The service was fine, and sushi chefs didn't hesitate to ask answer questions when I asked about a new roll. read more

We recently checked this place out and had a pretty interesting experience. Visually, the presentation of the food was on point--it looked great and was clearly thoughtfully plated. However, the texture was a bit off for some of the dishes. One unique thing that stood out was their use of soy skin wrappers in-place of traditional nori seaweed. It added a different texture and taste to the rolls we ordered, and while unexpected, it was a creative twist that we appreciated. The ambiance was what really drew us in. It's hard to explain exactly why, but something about the vibe made us want to stay. It felt kind of like a lounge or club--dim lighting, music, and a trendy aesthetic. Definitely a place you'd want to linger in for a bit. Service started off strong. The staff was attentive and checked in with us regularly throughout the beginning of the meal. But towards the end- service was lacking and they were inattentive- we had to try and flag down someone in order to get the bill so that we could pay. I read a few reviews of others who are not happy with the name of the rolls. Oh, my goodness, seriously, guys. Are you really going to judge a sushi restaurant because of the name of a roll? The first time they gave our order to another customer and had to remake it competely, making it take about an hour waiting to get the food. My auntie recently took me here, and it was my first time visiting. Right off the bat, I loved the vibe super cute decor and a welcoming atmosphere. We came during happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by the prices. We ordered a Sapporo, a few rolls, and the garlic edamame, which was honestly my favorite part! I even ended up dipping my sushi into the edamame sauce, and it was delicious. The sushi rolls were beautifully presented, each one garnished with a flower and plated so nicely. I went here with my family a few days ago and i loved it! We are trying all the sushi places in el-dorado county to see which one is our favorite and this one is definitely in the top 3. The service was amazing! They had water out in under 2 minutes, got our drink order right away and it came out in under 3 minutes. We had 7 people. Our waitress also took our food order really quickly and got it out fast. She was very on top of things - especially considering how busy they were. She checked on us all the right amounts and knew everything on the menu, didn't bug us too much but didn't ignore us either. We ordered 6 dishes that I personally tried. The first one we got was the spicy girl. It was definitely spicy, everyone at our table to tried one said it was pretty extreme. My mouth was burning but my mom loved it. Definitely only get it if you love spicy food. The next one we got was the rainbow, it was DELICIOUS. It wasn't spicy at all, and tastes good. It was bland though. I prefer it more basic. If you don't I would get something more flavorful like the spicy girl or the Hawaiian. This one was interesting, i thought it was extremely spicy but my mom and dad said it was fine. I would assume mild spice but if you're not a spicy person I'd definitely not get this one. It was delicious though, just extreme. The teriyaki bowl was also delicious, not spicy at all and tasted like it was advertised. The spicy chili fried chicken bowl wasn't spicy at all, coming from someone who doesn't like spice. A Bittersweet Goodbye to a Favorite Spot -- Sky Sushi used to be our go-to place for authentic sushi. It had the perfect blend of traditional flavors with a modern touch that kept us coming back time and again. Unfortunately, after the main chef left, it just didn't feel the same. Some of the traditional touches we loved seemed to be missing, and the overall experience wasn't quite what it used to be. While the current team does a good job, it's not quite the standout spot that it once was. That said, it's still a decent place to grab sushi. It's bittersweet to see the change, but we're grateful for the great meals we enjoyed there in past 18 months . First time visiting this restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant looked up scale and vibing with great music and lighting. The sushi chefs were awesome and made my experience the best! Our waitress was a little slow at first but once we moved to the bar area it hit better. The miso soup was delicious as had great flavor. The recommended edamame with garlic sauce was out of this world and I'm so happy we took a chance on them. Visited this place as we live here in EDH and everything closes by 9pm even on Fridays so hard to get good meal past this time. Well I'm Glad we stopped by. First not sure about all the recent bad reviews or what was different about me and my guest, but we were greeted, sat down at the sushi bar and the food was amazing! I had the king dragon roll and the scallop maniac and both were good rolls. The scallop maniac was awesome and would go back for this roll alone. The chefs both Kevin and Alan were attentive, talkative and carried a good conversation throughout our meal. The selection of music was great and loved it and not too loud as others have said. The service by Marissa was fantastic and very helpful through the entire meal. I would say Sky sushi sound definitely be on your list of sushi places here in El Dorado Hills. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. The chefs and the staff made us feel at home and welcomed and the food was delicious and the rolls had great flavor and the ingredients were paired well! Definitely a great place for dinner! Sky Sushi left me wanting this round. They had no rice so who has a sushi restaurant with no white rice so they offered us noodles and the noodles were very mushy and just did not cut having noodles instead of white rice. They were out of there zigzag sauce and then we were set before the happy hour ran out but we didn't get service for like 10 minutes and then they charged us full price for the happy hour item so we had to ask to have that changed to the happy hour price I mean they even gave us a happy hour menu for goodness sakes. Don't go! We had not been here for 2 years due to a poor experience last time. We figured if they were still in business it might be time to give them another chance.. our bad. It took excessively long for everything, to order, to get dinks, to get food, everything! Our son's drink came out wrong and the server said he would be right back with the right drink, nope.. we had to ask again 10 minutes later. Pepperfin was still frozen. Udon soup was boiling hot but by the time the rest of our group got their first two rolls (one was wrong and sent back, we ordered the Lemon crunch and were sent the Hawaiian) the soup was lukewarm. We waited another 15-20 minutes and the second roll never came. In all we were there almost two hours and still never got our full order. We paid for what we had and we will never go back. read more

I stopped coming to this place 2 years ago because it took 10 minutes to just get a drink order in, and then the food took almost an hour after ordering. The owner argued with me about it and we left. I felt like I was arguing with the owner of the electronics store in the movie Don't Mess With The Zohan. I decided to come back and give it another try tonight. At least the drink order happened but everything else was the same. I had to get up from my table 45 minutes after ordering and hassle them. We got rolls that we didn't order. The food was mediocre. One roll didn't even come and we waved it off and just asked for our check. When I got here I was greeted with half a smile ( not a genuine welcome) and got a table for three which was located closest to the door. Was not offered new plates after appetizers, had to ask. New plates were just placed on the side of the table - still did not take the used plates. Ordered dessert ( see pictures) looked awesome. Sushi is not fresh. They try to mask that with overly saucing it up. It was just gross. I was embarrassed to bring my out of town family here. Also watching my 9 year old order "g string" and "whos your daddy" roll was slightly uncomfortable. I get its trying to be edgy but I find that this place tries too hard in every way and doesn't get any of it right. Not even the drinks. The only thing positive to say is the wait staff has always been really friendly and attentive. The current management is terrible. Went in with a friend that ordered a specific dish she's had there multiple times - the wrong dish was served so she politely asked if she could have what she ordered. The server went to ask the manager and returned to say she could order something else but they would still charge her for the incorrect meal. Huh? Asked to speak with Manager - I see her walk by a few times but not come over. She actually started to come over then turned around. Finally she gets there and is condescending and defensive. After being super rude she says 'well what do you want me to do? take it off the bill?' Nice. That said, we'll never eat there again - I feel bad for the servers but the current management is awful. I was going to split the udon with my partner since I wasn't that hungry but it turned out to be a bit smaller than the server had indicated so he ordered his own food.
