I was really looking forward to eating at this place because I hadn't had a teriyaki bowl in quite some time. The place is located in a retail shopping center on Oswell and Bernard. The place is not large and has limited seating so I don't recommend this place if you have a large party. The menu had many options from which to choose... And I discovered that they do more than just teriyaki bowls. They offer a wide variety of Asian inspired dishes, potstickers, egg, rolls, and other things. The place is clean and has a bathroom that is reserved for customers only under lock and key. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl without vegetables and a side of vegetable egg rolls, there are two per order. Also ordered a beverage and my total for my meal was just under $16. The vegetable eggrolls were your average... Nothing to write home about. I did not enjoy them with sweet-and-sour or eggroll dipping sauce. Your drinks were average fountain drinks, Pepsi, products, and they had a small fridge with a few other Asian drinks that I did not recognize. The chicken teriyaki bowl itself is a good size. The rice was nice and fluffy and warm. When I got my bowl, it did not look like the picture that was on the menu so I was quickly disappointed. There wasn't any teriyaki sauce on top of the chicken or the rice, the person at the counter gave me a side of it. So already being disappointed because the bold did not look like the picture. I kinda knew that it wasn't going to be that great. The chicken looked like it was ripped off of a rotisserie chicken and warmed up again on a grill... However, there were no grill marks and no crispy or charbroiled pieces of chicken that make chicken teriyaki get it known And authentic charbroiled taste. The chicken was definitely not fresh and it tasted like it was reheated and was rather plain if it wasn't for the teriyaki sauce. Needless to say the teriyaki sauce I got was naughty enough, and I had to request two more sides in order to finish the bowl. The teriyaki sauce itself was quite delicious and tasted like what I am used to from other places. In summary, it's great that the chicken teriyaki bowl is a good size, there is plenty of food and the price is right. Downside is the chicken was at best mid, and definitely did not look like the picture on the menu. I don't think I will be going back to this place. If you do, I hope you enjoy it! read more

This restaurant is my far back Asian restaurant. There's not many choices in the Eastside of Bakersfield. The food does not stand out, and the restaurants is not clean. The floors and windows are always dirty. It has like 1 billion cameras in such a small space. It has adequate service although Nothing stands out about it and they are not extra with their customer service. Made a large order for multiple party platters. The beef and broccoli was cold not even cooked. Broccoli was still hard. In the picture I ordered a California sushi roll and the avocado is old. Spoke to the employee and she was nice but the manager could care less! Never going back again. Years ago this place was great! That was over a decade ago when the menu was simpler, food was good and service was great. We always forget to check out this place again when we don't like to cook and looking for take-out. After pipe band practice a week ago, the kids and I decided to try their food. I was shocked to see the huge menu... didn't expect this place to be the same since we've been and it's usually expected when there's change in management. But my golly, it made choosing complicated with so much choices... and I did not expect them to have a variety of Asian dishes menu... Chinese, Japanese and Korean. But I have to say, the moment we walked in and I saw the changes, I kind of already know what I was going to get. We could have walked out but we were up for the challenge... LOL! We didn't want to wait 45minutes for chicken wings and didn't feel like getting fast food or burgers... my daughter ordered a chicken and shrimp teriyaki Bplate & the Unagi "sushi" (yes... their menu says sushi, not sashimi so I told my daughter it will not be raw and got that reason, I'm not worried for her to order one and try it. I wouldn't recommend to try any sashimi from this place.), my son ordered the teriyaki chicken bowl & I ordered a plate with 2 entrees. I decided to ordered double the same entree (Kalbi) instead of ordering 2 different ones. But to my disappointment, when I opened my box (see photo I uploaded) it looked more like double the fried rice! The food wasn't bad but I've had better. My daughter's Unagi Sushi looked sad and awful! Didn't taste good either. The teriyaki chicken & shrimp were ok, but yes we've had better. Service was mediocre, staff not very familiar with their extensive menu. Staff were wearing masks but not properly wearing them. They weren't wearing gloves either and I've seen one of the ladies at the counter fill one of our boxes with the fried rice without sanitizing her hands and no gloves... almost wanted to return the food but tried to not be too sensitive about that. I love sushi and on the recommendation from a co-worker I decided to try this place for lunch. I will not return. The fish is clearly not fresh. It's beyond old. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and it tasted "off". I did not finish it. I opened the roll I ordered and it too did not smell right. It appears like the fish was flattened like a chicken cutlet with a mallet. The rolls are also cut into 2 inch chucks, way to big to eat. I tried just a piece of the salmon on top of the roll and it was not edible. I offered the rest to my coworkers, only 1 dared to try it after smelling it and ended up spitting it in the trash. The place is very small but the food is delicious I tried out just about the whole menu's along with the taste sushi. I recommend if you have tried the place out their signature teriyaki chicken bowl with rice, and vegetables. If that too small for your stomach they the plate version that will fill you up and make your mouth water. The staff is very nice always smiling and quick to take or serve your orders. Once again the place is small but it works there quick getting you in and out specially on lunch times. I highly recommend this place and try there sushi at least once . read more

The only think that was ok, was the chow main. Paid $51 only got refunded $35 because i could not bring the misso soup back and forgot the egg rolls. So we got charge for the egg rolls individually when they were first part of the family deal. It was a pretty hot day, and the place was warm inside. Maybe that was the reason for the rotten food. It was about 45 min before closing and all they were just complaining, yes I understand you want to go home... but please watch your language, especially when customers are in the building and can hear it. This is typical Chinese/Japanese fast food: cheap and made for the masses. This isn't really a bad thing if you like that kind of food. I found that the food was a little bit lacking in flavor. I don't know if they consciously under seasoned the food, or whether they are just stingy with the seasoning? The food was edible and alright if you just want something to eat that isn't totally greasy and oily. I've been pleasantly surprised by storefront Chinese/Japanese places before, so I gambled on this one a couple of weeks ago. And I regret everything. I won't fault them for their size. But the place seemed dingy. Also, they knew the iced tea dispenser was empty and never filled it the entire time I was there. The cashier was not the best people person I've seen, but I'll grant she wasn't surly. Even with that, my husband wasn't able to use his paid-for drink cup for anything besides water because of the tea failure and neither of us felt like engaging her to get a refund. Then we get to the food. I tried mu shu pork, garlic chicken, and their soft shell crab roll. The mu shu was horrid. It came pre-wrapped in the thickest pancakes I've ever seen. I've eaten thinner tortillas. Worse, the sub-par plum sauce was so thickly applied it overwhelmed the filling. I could only stand two bites. Their garlic chicken should be called bell pepper chicken, because that's all I could taste. It was a total failure. I managed to get most of the roll down, but only after I wiped off most of the overdone sauce with a couple of napkins. The rest was bland, the kindest thing I could possibly say about the food here.
