Despite the high reviews which prompted us to try I left disappointed. My family enjoyed their food for what it's worth. My burrito would have been good except the taste of burnt onion tainted it. Service was adequate. There was no ice available for the tea. Ambiance is what you'd expect for a to go / eat on an outside bench type of place. I would have rather cooked at home. This is a tough one.. the food was pretty good for the most part. We took it to go and ate at our beach house. Most of the pancakes were good but there was a charred pancake hidden under the rest of them - there is no way they didn't know it was burnt when they served it! The rest of the food was fine. When we picked everything up, it was slammed busy with one person up front trying to help customers on the register, answering phones, and making drinks - maybe they had an employee call out? The overall cleanliness was startling. It was dirty - not just busy/cluttered but it was yucky like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The floors, counters, walls, etc were all grimy. Awesome !! The biscuit was BIG ! I couldn't finish it. Bacon, egg and cheese. Flaky biscuit and at least 2 eggs. The guy taking our order was super nice, friendly and helpful. This place ROCKS !! Be sure and CHECK IN first and you can get a free drink. There is outdoor seating and great, relaxing music playing. I want to stay here all day !! They have a pretty big breakfast menu as well as lunch item and sandwiches. We walked here from the Travelodge. It was about a mile. We shall return next time we visit the OBX. I stayed at the houses right next to Ten O six. A person that was staying with me said it was amazing..So I walked over to try it out. This place is very small, and very little seating I would get their food to go. She told me they had really great biscuits and gravy. I tried them...they are a good, but not something I would order again. The cashier told me they were known for their burritos. It was mediocre, not enough for me to say ooo this a great burrito. I love OBX, and searching for the best food places is a goal. So that everytime I go...I get the best. This place isn't really on my A list, but maybe on my B list. read more

Nice location at MP 9 on the beach road. Really good coffee. Lunch sandwiches were good. The Reuben was tasty and correctly prepared. The BLT could have used more T and L. Heck could have had more bacon now that I think about it- two slices didn't cut it. Fries were very good; even after the wait to get them home. Breakfast bowls and burritos had a similar problem. Both had too much moisture. Wife's burrito was too wet and fell apart. And my bowl had a decent sized puddle left after I had finished eating. Kinda odd. read more

Now on to the food. I ordered the deluxe breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, cheese, sausage) and hash browns (it's really just red potatoes). My sandwich was really good but the potatoes were disgusting and had absolutely no flavor. My husband ordered the classic egg sandwich and a waffle. I tried the waffle and that was also good. Pretty good breakfast burrito! The tortilla shell was perfect- excellent blend of crunch and chewiness. Most of the filling inside was sautéed vegetables, which tasted great! But it seemed that it could have used some more eggs and spice inside to deliver the "wow" factor. This place is a lot better looking in person. No real inside seating- maybe 3-5 seats, but they had an outdoor porch which can accommodate 17- has fans and is covered. For what it is- a beachy breakfast/lunch stop - it's made some modern changes! Give it a shot! read more

This was one of the best breakfasts I've had in the OBX. You can tell these guys have mastered breakfast I can't imagine their catering. I got the porktopia breakfast bowl. Bacon sausage and smoked ham on a biscuit covered in the most delicious gravy topped with two over easy eggs. Wow is an understatement. Rainy Sunday went in on our way out and I instantly wanted to stay another day just to eat there again. My husband and I are visiting OBX this week and were searching for local seafood. We took Yelp's advice and went to Ten O Six in Nags Head. When you walk in, there's a huge chalkboard of offerings plus a menu. Everything is made fresh. We were greeted by the owner, who suggested the shrimp basket for me and a combo oyster and crab cake basket for my husband. There's a choice of 4 seasonings for the hand cut fries. (I had garlic, my husband had malt vinegar and salt). There is no indoor seating, however, just 2 doors down, there is a wine/beer shop/bar with seating. The owner brought our dinners to the table hot and full! The wine bar was comfortable and just right for a nice glass of wine to go along with the seafood. Clambake Catering for 26! Chef Joe and server Sara did a fantastic job, from set up to cooking through cleanup they did it all. The meal started with a stuffed mushroom app and house salad, then we had the clam bake boil, with bbq chicken and pulled pork as well, and we finished up with an assortment of pastries for desert. Two of our group were gluten free and they were very accommodating. Lots of leftovers as well. 14 of our group were under the age of 8 and the kids meal was spot on as well. We were staying in the Outer Banks and had decided to get our lunch here. Originally, we were thinking of going there to eat, but our friends informed us that there isn't a lot of space to sit, so we decided on takeout instead. I got the NC Pork BBQ sandwich, and my wife ordered a crab cake sandwich. My sandwich was pretty good, with a tasty vinegar-based sauce. The crab cake sandwich was really something, though! Loved the menu and options. The only thing I was really surprised about was having whole potatoes in my burrito when it said hashbrowns. I really don't like potatoes in my burritos especially for breakfast. I think this place can really do a phenomenal job if they put a little more love in their ingredients or some seasonings. Just a short walk from our hotel and we enjoyed a really good home cooked breakfast. A local walked in with us and since he ordered he biscuits and gravy with two over easy eggs, so did I! I love good biscuits and gravy and these were! Schweety ordered the breakfast burrito and it was so full of goodness that it fell apart and he needed to use knife and fork to eat it. We decided to give this place a shot for a quick-and-easy breakfast and had a decent experience. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, all seating is outdoors and extremely limited, which may or may not be too big of an issue for some. Fortunately, we were able to grab some seats so we could sit down and enjoy our items. Other patrons were seated very closely due to lack of seating - VERY closely - which felt a little weird as we were trying to converse on our own. Not much room for personal space, unfortunately. I had the Beach Road burrito with a pancake and we both ordered specialty coffee (one Red Eye, one Mud). Somehow, the drinks were mixed up and we both ended up with Red Eyes - not a huge problem, but we didn't get much flavor (no hint of raspberry, even though it was in the description) and were underwhelmed by the coffee. The food, on the other hand, was good. The Beach Road has a great mix of proteins for breakfast with a fair mix of veggies, and the homemade salsa was a perfect match. Extremely messy to eat but a good all-in-one breakfast item and great price! The pancake was also very generous in size - along with the burrito, just one pancake was enough to fill me up. Overall, the food was very generous in portion but not exactly outstanding. I'd definitely choose over fast food but if I had time to dine in, would probably consider going elsewhere. Staff members were friendly, relaxed, and willing to help with any questions. They seemed personable and knew a few locals by name, which is always good to see. The food here is really good if you can find them open. We have been coming to OBX for the last few years and always try to have breakfast here once. However, even on days when they post on Facebook that they are opening at 7, they often don't. Last year, we tried four days before we finally found them open a little after 7. This morning, we waited on the patio until 7:20 and they still weren't open despite posting they would be open at 7 and the open flag flying. read more
