On the other hand this review is for the grounds and buildings. There are only 2 designated handicap parking spots, near the entrance. To use the restrooms you'll need to use stairs. The paths are paved with loose coarse gravel. Potentially a hazard for lower limb amputees and difficult for wheelchair users to navigate. Otherwise it's a pleasant venue

What a great place to enjoy wine, music, food, and the great outdoors!…read more I came here with a large group and was impressed with how much space there is to accommodate folks. We were able to find a couple of picnic tables and spend a few hours enjoy the beautiful weather and sunset. At some point, live music started up, and while they asked for $15 to sit close to where the music was being performed, you could hear it just fine from further out. We didn't make it to the wine tasting or tour, but we did get a small taste of a few different options from the window outside before ordering a bottle to share. They do flights upstairs, but pets aren't welcome upstairs (we had our small dog). We were, however, informed that pets are very welcome on the tour. If we weren't with a large group, we would have taken the tour...they depart frequently throughout the day. There were three food truck options available when we visited, and the 2 we tried were delicious and reasonably priced. Will definitely be back!

9/14/25: Love coming to Fjord Vineyards!…read more We came for their Oyster Party Weekend. Marilyn greeted us when we checked in. She escorted us over to a table with a marvelous view of the vineyards. Maria was our wonderful and charming server. She came over with a complementary glass of their wonderful rosé wine. I'm not a rosé drinker, but it was delicious. We enjoyed a wonderful flight of wines. Our favorite was their '23 Double Fall Line $32. It has a marvelous smooth blend of Cab Franc, Merlot and Blaufränkisch (Austrian Blue) Grapes. Two bottles came home later. : ) Of course, we had to indulge in some wonderful lobster rolls. Each lobster roll was $23, plus for an extra $9 you get a nice dollop of caviar to top it off ! The lobster was from a company called Oyster Party in the NY area. I think the lobster rolls were some of the best I ever had. Just a couple of notes: - It appears the hill leading up to the vineyard was recently paved. Previously, it was extremely uneven. - Be sure to make reservations online. - Parking is available within steps of entering the vineyard. Can't wait to return! : D

We had a table full of wine to taste and the service was awesome. Pretty busy given the weather but since we had reservations, we had a table ready. This place was buzzing! Very festive atmosphere. Got our wines poured and a couple of bonus pours. Our table looked like a chandelier when they were done. All the wines were pretty tasty, even the whites which I am usually not a fan of.

White Silo Farm & Winery is a rustic farm, vineyard & winery that opened in Sherman, Connecticut in…read more2000. It was opened by the Gorman family, including Ralph and his son Eric. Ralph has a degree in engineering and had previously worked as an engineer, a chemistry teacher, a physics professor and a consultant. He grew bored, wanted to try something different, so in 1985 he decided to purchase a 17-acre parcel of farmland in Sherman that had previously been part of Upland Pastures dairy farm. The Gorman family intended to continue the farming tradition and preserve the land for generations to come. They planted crops of raspberries, blackberries and rhubarb. The circa 1780 dairy barn and silo were completely renovated and converted into a tasting room and production area. By 2000, the winery opened to the public. The initial wines made available were fruit (non-grape) wines, crafted from their own farm-grown fruit. The Gorman family planted their first grape vineyard in 2010 and additional grapevines were planted in 2016. My wife and I visited White Silo this past weekend. To celebrate my wife's birthday, I took her for a drive in Western Connecticut to see the fall foliage and explore some wineries. This was our first visit to White Silo and it was our first stop of the day. The property was lovely and the interior of the barn was very charming. We decided to order some wine flights so we could sample several of the winery's offerings. Between the two of us, we sampled their "Upland Pastures White", "Rhubarb", "Sparkling Red Raspberry", "Upland Pastures Red", "Farm White", "Upland Pastures Rosé", "Blackberry Sangria", and their "Apple Cider". We decided to purchase bottles of our two favorites (the "Sparkling Red Raspberry" and the "Apple Cider") to take home. White Silo also offers light food options as well. We shared the winery's "Hummus Plate" and "Gourmet Boxed Lunch" while we enjoyed our flights. The boxed lunch, which changes seasonally, included a turkey sandwich made with arugula and White Silo mustard, quinoa salad, a mini cheese plate, mixed nuts, and a chocolate turtle bar. It was the perfect amount of food to enjoy with our wine samples. Overall we had a very relaxing experience at White Silo, complete with a live musician. We highly recommend White Silo to visitors traveling through this quiet part of the state. We hope to be back!
