Everything they do with maple is glorious, and the rye they make using Japanese barrels - while their most expensive - is very, very good. They also have a maple cream ($30) that is delicious. The shop also contains a lot of cute merch as well some single-bagged snacks. Check out the fridge in the back for Other Half beer (and others) and non-alcoholic drinks, too. And plan to stay a while! There's plenty of outdoor seating and fire pits.

Although I no longer reside in Millbrook every Christmas season I…read morefaithfully make an annual trek to Marona's to buy their homemade breakfast sausage for our holiday breakfasts. For over 70 decades I've enjoyed the tasty sausage - until this year, 2024. It was so apparent when I fried the sausage something had changed. In the past there was a light layer of grease from the sausage fat. This year there was no grease, only water. The pan filled with 1/3" of water that had to be drained to properly fry the sausage. The taste was even worse! Gone were the spices that, in the past, contributed to the delicious taste. The sausage is now very bland and tasteless. My husband even commented the sausage tasted like cardboard with no flavor at all. The cooked sausage and another package in the refrigerator went in the trash. Sad to say but after over 7 decades, good bye Marona's. There will be no more annual treks to buy what used to be the best breakfast sausage you could find. So sad.

The shop has a surprisingly large stash of nice wines -- we didn't examine them in detail, saving that for our next visit -- and spirits that include products from Litchfield Distillery as well as some uncommon bottles of bourbon and gin that some larger shops in larger cities don't seem to stock. We were impressed. The shop also carries a number of distinctive cheeses, although when we were there it was a few weeks before "cheese season" gets underway. The space is very clean and attractive, and the owner offered welcome good advice about purchases. Bottom line: We liked very much what we saw but will have to return later to be able to offer a more detailed review.
