What a great place to enjoy wine, music, food, and the great outdoors! I came here with a large group and was impressed with how much space there is to accommodate folks. We were able to find a couple of picnic tables and spend a few hours enjoy the beautiful weather and sunset. At some point, live music started up, and while they asked for $15 to sit close to where the music was being performed, you could hear it just fine from further out. We didn't make it to the wine tasting or tour, but we did get a small taste of a few different options from the window outside before ordering a bottle to share. They do flights upstairs, but pets aren't welcome upstairs (we had our small dog). We were, however, informed that pets are very welcome on the tour. If we weren't with a large group, we would have taken the tour...they depart frequently throughout the day. I can't believe I had never been to this winery in all the years I have visited this area. I came for the Wine 5K Run and from the minute we entered the premises I was in love with the grounds. This winery is stunning and it reminded me a lot of the wineries in Tuscany, maybe it was the hills and big trees. After the 5K we hung around and got to explore the winery. We didn't get to the a wine tasting since they weren't offering this due to the event. I did get two try two different wines and I enjoyed them. I will definitely be coming back. read more

5/18/26 - We visited on 7/24/25 for a tasting with Bruce. He was knowledgeable with interesting stories. I left with their '22 Cab Franc Rsrv (still laid down), '22 Red Hunt Country (dark, soft tannins, dark red fruit) and Special Reserve Brut. They have a nice gift area with wine related items. I brought home the Millbrook Hunt Country Red candle that has a pleasant mint aroma. I'm writing this review now because I opened their Special Reserve Brut on 5/16 w friends and was blown away by the mousse (tiny soft bubbles) that was an absolute delight! This was fun serious for 30 mins $18 with a souvenir wine glass and 6 tastings and wearing of wine was fun. The knowledge and learning the wines from the local vineyards was amazing. They have an amazing walking trail and also you can see the actually grapes. They had a food truck which was Maine lobster who was outside so they had food. It's like go to your wine tasting as a group. Nothing is personal. Nothing is intimate other wineries nearby are beautiful. Better experiences elsewhere. We purchased a wine tasting. For one it's over priced. They tell you to go outside to a tent. Where your seated on plastic chairs around a U shaped table of 20 people or so give or take. With an identical table near us so as your wine tasting is going on. There's another group going as well and you can hardly hear your wine person. Trying to tell you about the wine with the amount of noise inside the tent so there's nothing really personal. It's just like here's your wine. This is what it is blah blah blah enjoy yourself and they go so quick you don't have enough time toeven enjoy the wine. Let alone the amount you actually get is not even worth it. You can't even taste the wine. Here's your half a shot glass of wine. I recommend you skip this winery. I would recommend you check out other wineries nearby. Millbrook Vineyards & Winery is a craft winery that opened in Millbrook, New York in 1985. It was founded by husband and wife John and Kathe Dyson. While a student at Cornell's College of Agriculture, John bought a bottle of wine to impress a date at a party. This started a lifelong interest in wine. He later met Kathe while they were both working in Washington DC. In 1982, they both decided to purchase the 130-acre Wing Dairy Farm in John's hometown of Millbrook. The plan was to turn the property into a vineyard; the gravelly soil proved excellent for viticulture. The first vine plantings occurred a year later. John Graziano was hired as the winemaker in 1984 and the winery's first commercial vintage was produced the following year. The winery officially opened for tours and tastings in 1988 and today produces between 10-15,000 cases of wine annually. The Dysons later purchased two additional wineries in California and a third in Italy. My wife and I visited Millbrook Vineyards this past weekend while we were celebrating our sixth anniversary in the Hudson Valley. We were staying at Wing's Castle, which sits on a hill overlooking the vineyards. We couldn't check in until 2PM, so we headed to the winery first for some lunch, a tour and tastings. We ordered a couple of wood-fired pizzas from a food truck outside and enjoyed them in the taproom paired with delicious glasses of Pinot Noir and Rosé. We then went on a guided tour of the facility where we saw the production area and learned about the fermentation process. Our visit ended with tastings of Grüner Veltliner, Tocai Friulano, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, and Hunt Country Red. The latter (with notes of berries, smoke and spice) was easily our favorite! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Millbrook Vineyards and would definitely come back! read more

The wine tasting was very informative and entertaining and the staff were very nice. Few wines offered by the glass but were a good selection. The space is okay. The patio areas and outdoor picnic tables fill up quickly as there aren't that many chairs and tables. They do allow customers to bring their own picnic blankets and chairs and is great for a group of 4 or more. But for a couple, it might be hard to find a spot that is a good distance away from picnic tables, with a good view of the estate, and sunny. read more

Such a gorgeous vineyard, and plenty of space for social distancing too! The grounds are large, so even though it was crowded there was plenty of room to park and spread out. There is a large field with a stage for the band. You can either set up shop in the grass (they even have sectioned off areas for people to distance) or snag a picnic table. Just note you'll need to get there pretty early if you want a table. There is also an entirely different outdoor area where you can sit out and enjoy wine if you don't care to be near the music. There are food trucks outside and you can bring your own food which is a nice option. There is a large indoor area with a tasting room and a shop for buying wine, beer, snacks, merch, etc. Again, even though it's crowded the indoor area is so large that space does not feel limited. Most importantly, wine is delicious and there are lots of varieties to enjoy! Prices are fair and there are several different price points. There are many wineries in the area, but I'm glad we choose Millbrook and I'd definitely return. read more

OMG what a cute vineyard! We went on a beautiful 'picturesque; September Saturday and I'm so glad my gf suggested this place, because I was so enamored with it! They have tons of picnic tables setup in the front of the vineyard - and they let you bring your own food, which is nice. They also had a BBQ food truck. The vineyard is huge and surrounded by this beautiful body of water, so people set up picnic blankets with food & wine along the water and up on the hill where the vineyards were. The actually tasting room is quite large and filled with lots of bottles available for purchase & an indoor bar (although not sure they are open with COVID). Anyway, we went inside and grabbed a glass of wine before our 5pm tasting began in the large tents outside. Luckily for us the 5pm tasting was pretty quiet, so we had the table to ourselves. The woman walked around and poured all 6 tastings for us, and took the time to describe all of the wines. Very professional & knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back here! Vino? Wine not! Thank you Groupon for getting it right! I discovered this amazing spot thanks to the peeps at Groupon. Mega deal so I couldn't resist! I have no idea how I missed raving about Millbrook Vineyards sooner. I've come here a few times and I cannot wait to be back this summer again. When I purchased the tasting tickets I thought it would be something brief, lame with a bunch of cheap wines at a meh spot. I was so wrong! I purchased my Groupon in advance and before I took friends here I wanted to make sure we tested the "waters". As soon as we drove in on the sunny day everyone was out having a great time chilling by the lake side on the picnic tables or blankets on the grass. It was seriously the perfect scenario. Walking in, I went straight to the cashier checked us in got us in for our tasting. You get (depending on the one you choose) 8 tastings of different wines (also depending on the season). These tastings are delicious and you get to mark off your favorites and take notes so you're able to purchase a glass later on or a bottle if you wish. After the tasting, you can walk around check out their wine selection. They have things from Villa Pillo in Italy. We tried their Cinghialino wine and it was amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable and by no means do you feel rushed during the tasting or during your stay. I highly recommend coming here for an afternoon, plan to spend 2-3 hours. You can come just for the tasting and be done with everything in one hour but I suggest staying a little longer. It's nice to bring a picnic blanket pack some snacks, cheese and crackers throw in some grapes. This will definitely be a good idea since, once your tasting is over, you can purchase a bottle or two and sip them in your free souvenir glass (included in the tasting). You can sit by the little lake/pond hang out in your blanket. Enjoy nature and just people watch drunk parents taking care of their little toddlers. Truthfully it's the best! Dogs are welcome in the property (as far as I know). Also, make sure to take plenty of pics around the property. Best views! You almost feel like you're in Europe but you're not. Lol! Good way to mentally transport yourself there while still being in NY. I love Millbrook Winery! Btw, they do sell food in their "restaurant" area. I love when they have food trucks and live music events on the weekends during the warmer months. Their wine is also very good and we also leave with a car full of bottles. I've had Millbrook wines before but never visited the winery until today. It was a wonderful experience! The grounds are bucolic, with ample picnic tables in front of the winery (there's a small deck and patio area attached to the main building with limited seating in the shade) and near the surrounding ponds, with plenty of space to bring chairs & blankets. There's 2 wine tasting options, so my husband and I chose the basic $17 "Guided Tasting," figuring our palates would be happy enough (the other "Reserve Tasting" option is $30). The tastings are well organized with each party seated at its own numbered table under a tent, with tastings every half hour for the option we chose. Water, crackers, and a printed description of the wines is provided. The tasting itself was enjoyable though a bit slowly paced for my personal preference. The website describes it as a 40-minute tasting, which was accurate. There is a separate tasting room inside the main building for the $30 tasting option. There are several employees pouring wines one at a time for their tables and providing commentary, which allows you enough time to enjoy the wine before the next sample is poured, but because the attention is personalized at each table, there were some gaps of time where we were waiting longer for our next tasting. The woman who poured our wines was friendly and personable and kept offering crackers and water. My personal preference is white wine, on the drier side, lighter bodied. Of the six wines, I highly enjoyed one (2021 dry riesling), liked 3 others (Hunt Country white; Hunt Country Rose; 2020 Sangiovese). I am admittedly not a Chardonnay fan, and found the Hunt Country Red a little too smoky for my preference. The Sangiovese surprised me as I am not generally a red wine drinker but the description was spot on. It was well balanced and not as dry. Overall it was a nice tasting, if a little too slowly paced. After our tasting, we got a bottle to enjoy with the picnic that we brought. We went back in the shop to get some crackers and a baked good for my son (it is a family friendly winery). There are additional bottles for purchase along with much wine related merchandise. Overall it was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and I can see why Friday night food trucks are a popular event. I'm glad the wines are available locally as I will definitely be picking up bottles in the near future. Bonus: the glasses used for the tasting can be wrapped and brought home as souvenirs. Millbrook Vineyards was such an aesthetically pleasing experience - driving into the Vineyard you pass rows and rows of grapes. It took me about a two hour drive but it was so worth it. My boyfriend and I decided to take a tour along with the Portfolio Tasting. In the Portfolio Tasting you try 6 wines (3 whites, 1 rose, 2 reds) along with a sample of Tuscan Olive Oil with bread and crackers. The wine glass that you sample the wine in is yours to keep and it's decorated with the "I heart NY" slogan - which fun fact was coined by Millbrook Vineyards original owner. To be frank the wine that was given during the tasting wasn't up to par with my standards, however I decided to go upstairs to their bar and try a Pinot Noir that was not tasted prior. I grabbed my Pinot Noir (California) and headed to the terrace - we snagged a corner spot as a couple was leaving and just soaked in the view. After awhile it got too hot, so we popped back inside for a bit - voted on next year's wine bottle art then headed down to the trail. We walked it for a bit, took A LOT of pictures - hung out by the lake, drank some more, then headed home. Overall it was a great experience and a relaxing one. Came to Millbrook on a Saturday afternoon after having bought a Groupon deal for 6 tastings for 4 people (for only $26!!). The vineyard is huge and there is an area with chairs for relaxing, you can also play badminton and cornhole! Inside the taproom & terrace there are several tasting areas and terrace upstairs where you can enjoy the view, glass of wine and cheese boards. The four of us started our tasting with Justine by checking off 6 wines of our choices that included white, rose and red wine. Each tasting was so generous and the four of us definitely felt extra "happy" after the six. We then went out and enjoyed the games (extra fun when you're a little buzzed) We also checked out the Vineyard Grille for food and this is the reason why I am taking off a star. The food is pretty much the quality of a college cafeteria but 3x more expensive. They were selling premade salads (a tomato, spring mix and hummus) for $16 and margherita "pizza" which was just cheese and tomato sauce on a flat bread also for $16. Had an excellent experience visiting with friends. Was a busy Saturday afternoon with many families at the picnic tables and spread out on the lawn. We got a bottle of Chardonnay and a bottle of Rosé for $18 each. The three of us had a wonderful time. Everyone was mostly distanced, there were food trucks selling in front of the main building and plenty of seating. Since it was such a nice day we sat by the pond and watched a mother duck swimming with her babies. I recommend sitting further away from the center building as it is louder over there. They allow you to cross over to the hillside as well provided you leave everything as you found it. Do not bring your own alcohol as we witnessed an altercation between staff and underage people drinking beer. They threatened to call the police because some of them were using fake IDs. Looking past all this, however, I started with a rosé. Seemed as if Millbrook Winery was a bit disjointed in some respects and just lacked cohesiveness in their layout: card-only payments in some sections, and others, cash. Red Pepper Hummus Platter and Cheese Platter, were the only 2, non-beef/chicken or pork dishes available. In part, it was a big let down since, Millbrook, ran out of the Cheese Platter and the Hummus, was my back up- which was nice, nonetheless. We found a picnic table to enjoy our light fare and glasses of wine, while the light jazz music, created a flow in the air. Came across a few, fairly pleasant employees, but to wrap up the evening, we stopped at Millbrook's shop to make a purchase and asked a young lady for a specific wine. Her responses and demeanor were very off putting. Genuine and polite courtesy, seemed nonexistent to her. To add, I almost felt, as if my appearance, annoyed her. The impression she let out, said everything; I quickly made the decision to not purchase anything and we soon left. Stopped at Millbrook Vineyards on Tuesday afternoon. A very nice and thorough tasting, with a beautiful outdoor setting to enjoy the wines you tried. Quality: Millbrook Vineyards has a pretty large operation with wineries located in New York, California, and Italy. Visiting on a weekday, they only had the Portfolio Wine Tasting available, but it showcased their wine from all the different regions. They were transitioning from summer menu to fall, so we got to try a total of eight wines, not matching up perfectly with the menu. This included a an Unoaked Chardonnay, a New York State Chardonnay, a Gruner Veltliner, a Malbec, a Pinot Noir, a Cabernet Franc, a Merlot, and a red blend. It was a solid selection with the Pinot Noir as the standout of the bunch, but no poor options. Quantity: The Portfolio Wine Tasting comes with six pours, but with a changing menu we ended up trying a total of eight wines. Value: $15 for the Portfolio Wine Tasting. Ambiance: Millbrook Vineyards is located in the upstate New York area of Millbrook. It is off the beaten track, and I was questioning the route as we winded along some dirt roads. The property is very large and beautiful. They have you drive up a long stone road between the grapes to get to the main tasting room. The tasting room is massive, with multiple floors, private rooms, and tons of wine on display. The second floor leads to two different outdoor decks, which overlook the property. Outside they have a pond near a hill, with additional tables for guests to enjoy a glass after a tasting. A large tent was also set up, presumably for weekend outdoor tastings when the weather does not behave. Crowd: It was fairly busy for a Tuesday afternoon. All the tasting room tables were filled and there was about a dozen or so other guests enjoying wine outside. Service: The guy who led our tasting was excellent, but was tasked with juggling six tastings simultaneously. He could have definitely used some help, but did an impressive job. Took a trip up here from Queens and although it was a bit of a trek it was worth it. The tasting was a good value and they provided a little cheat sheet for writing notes and you could also order the bottles if you wanted. You even got to keep the glass. They were informative about each wine and willing to answer questions. After our tasting we went on a quick tour for a little crash course in how they made their wines. The views there were awesome from the moment we drove in through the actual vineyard. A great place for a day trip out of the city. My only (small) gripe here was that when ordering a cheese plate it was super slow to get it. This is the biggest winery I've ever been to and i've been to my fair share in North fork. It was refreshing to see a huge and well maintained winery in upstate. It's almost like a vineyard and a park because there is so much space and everyone is picnicking. Great for big groups and can bring kids along as well.
