Shishito shrimp don $10.49 so delicious
Stacey-Ann M.

I stopped by this market on my way to the train station the other day. It's a cute market with Japanese grocery items but I was pleasantly surprised by the hot food items as well. At first I was going to purchase a few onigiri but then I s aw the Shishito shrimp don bowl and it looked so delicious I had to get it. Glad I did because when I went home and dived in it was so good. All the little flavors went so well together. I can't wait to stop by again and try some of their other dishes.

It was a catastrophe. My Grandson was completely out of his Koikeya Karamucho Super Hot Strong Chili Chips. We had already planned a nostalgia drive past all my old favorites. The Smith Street location of Ten Ichi Mart in Boerum Hill was right on my planned drive up Smith to Downtown Brooklyn then back down Court. My family had already told me what a great market Ten Ichi was. So I was prepared for an experience. After street parking a few blocks up Smith, we entered a nice storefront with friendly personnel. The store was clean & inviting. My Grandson immediately began filling up the handheld basket with his favorites, some of which I had never heard of before. He ate the Spam Musabi the moment we got home. My perusal of the store was much slower & detailed. I was intrigued by a Japanese Ginger & Honey bag of candies billed by the store on their poster as good for coughs & scratchy throats. This sounded great after my post Thanksgiving upper respiratory bout. Into the basket went a bag of the candies. The Pocar Sweat is an electrolyte energy drink that has a very light yummy taste. It's also offered in powders that can be mixed with water. My favorite find was an item I planned to eat on the return trip to Virginia. It was a Baked Wheat Cake filled with Red Bean Paste (Koshi Ann). I've always liked goodies with Red Bean Paste. But this was absolutely amazing!! The cake was very light & fresh. It was even lighter, with a better consistency, than Angel Food Cake. I can't believe I bought only one. More are needed immediately!! :) Ten Ichi Mart is a terrific International Market, 5 stars without a doubt.

shrimp tempura onigiri
Thea A.

one of the best shrimp tempura onigiris ive ever had... hungry for more. many great options for food and japanese grocery

Very minimal filling.

The half price mark down after 7PM is amazing but I warn you DO NOT GET AN ONIGIRI. Half priced or not the onigiri is a complete rip off unless you just enjoy rice with a hint of filling. Yes, it's less than $2 when it is half off but with the amount of filling that is actually inside of their onigiris- you might as well eat a bowl of rice with some dried seaweed on the side. The filling that was in the onigiri probably took up less than 10% of the entire piece. I was eating rice with a hint of spicy salmon with each bite. Had I known this, I would not even buy it despite being half priced. Do yourself a favor and just buy some white rice and add some soy sauce to it. It would have more flavor and substance than the minuscule amount of filling that they provide in the onigiris.

On a casual walk I discovered this small yet well stocked market. They have tons of delicious treats that are imported with great quality. They also have an array of cold and hot prepared meals that are convenient to grab for lunch. The staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable about certain products that I'm not familiar with. This is one of my favorite spots to grab lunch in the area.

Everything you want and need in a tiny shop. Something quick to stave off the annoying in-between meals hunger? Check. A light meal for the 30 minute lunch break? Check. The bag of bamboo shoots you grew up on but you haven't been able to buy since you've moved into this gentrified neighborhood? Check check check! And, of course, a plethora of beverages for your fickle throat.

This discovery is not to be missed. After discovering the store, we keep going back for more. They have the best of everything Japanese made, including food and products from Japan. Everything is fresh, no matter what time you come in. We bought many different bento boxes, rice balls, cakes, snacks, and drinks. Their cooked food is fantastic too. The staffers at the counter are so helpful and I always like how they handle the food and groceries their customers buy. They know how to pack it well. They're the best at packing to ensure nothing spills or moves around in a bag. The market is so organized and clean! Step in and maintain it as the owner and staff members maintain it. Enjoy!

Salmon teriyaki plate , and shrimp Shumai

Went here after 8pm when there hot and cold food is half price. I got a salmon teriyaki plate, w/ broccoli, rice and onions. ($5.25) It's wasn't hot but still tasty enough to eat. I also got a shrimp shumai ($3.50) as an appetizer to start . Again there not as hot nor do I know what time they have been made . There's no tables here so you're getting it to go. It's also a Japanese.deli so there are plenty of options to get here ! . But there have plenty more options like sushi too for half price here . I would be back after 8 pm in this area of Brooklyn

I absolutely love coming here. There is a large selection of Japanese imports to choose from with snacks to ramen, etc. it's kinda small but the place is usually clean and the food they serve is really good. It just sucks I can't eat some of their sushi due to my allergies. The cashiers are always nice as well. Make sure you get there for 8 pm for 50% off hot food, you can't beat that in New York!

Great selection of sushi and onigiri
Bonnie N.

Came here for a quick lunch as they have so many sushi, onigiri and hot food options. They even have sashimi and sides here. Everything looks very fresh and is reasonably priced. If I lived around here I would probably frequent Ten Ichi a lot as they also have fresh produce, lots of snacks, sauces, noodles. Very interesting drink options too. A small shop but they are able to pack a lot in the small space. There is also the Ten Ichi gift shop next door which we accidentally stepped into at first. Great neighborhood market! The only thing is there are no tables out front to eat your food but this mart is more of a grab and go type of place. Service at checkout was very friendly. They take cash and card. Enjoy!

I am only reviewing the take out food options for this market. There's a fair amount of sushi, onigri, hot rice bowls, salads and buns to take to go. It's all reasonably priced and the portions are fair but there's a few things holding me back from giving a 4 star rating. It's more of a 3.5. Fish is fresh but smaller portions which is reflective of the affordable pricing (it's around 6 dollars for one roll). However the rice in both the sushi and onigiri bowls is not flavored.... it's not true sushi rice. There's no vinegar or any hint of flavoring with the rice so that makes it bland, esp the onigiri. I think they skip that step so they can mass produce their take out options. But it is was disappointing to bite into an onigiri and it missing umami cuz it's just unflavored fresh fish and rice. The workers keep to themselves and are efficient. Credit cards are only for min 8 dollar purchase. Anything outside of the take out food options is pricier so I would just stick to this if you want quick utilitarian sushi snack.

The container gives about two portions worth. Here is mine and my sister has other half

Great food, helpful staff And very clean store almost OCD clean ! The fish is very fresh. They have a lot of fruit and frozen items as well. Very well priced for the area, especially

This is the best gem in the neighborhood --I could not be happier that it exists! I am excited to find this mini Japanese grocery store that reminds me exactly of the 7/11 in Japan with all the sushi, bentos, buns, and onigiris. It's one of the things I really wish America had more of, so to find this here in Brooklyn is amazing. The market has all the Asian goodies you need from imported KitKats, candy, chips, sauces, noodles, veggies, and even beauty supplies. My favorite is their sushi, bentos and onigiris though. They're also super affordable with the most costly is a chirashi bowl at $12.99 and all onigiris are $2.99 each. It is plated beautifully and looks like it could be 5x the price if I didn't know any better. There is a lot of variety and everything is freshly made at 10am (hot foods at 10:30am). The best part is that all the sushi and hot foods are 50% off after 8pm, but I'd recommend coming by 7:50pm as people are lining up to pay at 8pm on the dot. Of course since it's the end of the day, the fish isn't as fresh and the rice is cold and hard; but still great on a budget. Note there is a 2 item limit for the 50% off sushi though and also an $8 minimum for credit cards. I can't wait to keep coming back here. The onigiri and sushi is where it's at.

Expensive for no reason. If you want Japanese food and grocery, go to Japan Village in Sunset Park as they are cheaper and has more variety.

The matcha latte was really smooth and not too sweet, which I liked. Sometimes matcha can taste kind of bitter, but this one was balanced and tasted fresh. It was light and easy to drink, not too heavy. The açaí bowl was probably my favorite. The base was thick and flavorful, not watery at all. The fruit on top tasted fresh and sweet, and the granola added a nice crunch that made everything come together. It felt filling but still healthy, which is exactly what I wanted. The staff were friendly, and my order came out pretty fast, so that was a plus. Overall, everything felt well-made and worth the price. I'd definitely go back again and would recommend it if you're looking for something fresh, healthy, and actually tasty.

I found this drink was a little boring and wish I had ordered a topping like cheese foam in addition to it, but was served in a cute plastic mason jar looking cup. My friend got the Creamy Real Taro Paste Bobo with organic oat milk, milk tea and light ice. I had also selected the option to sample the Taro, but sadly was not offered any. This drink was much more exciting and I really enjoyed the unique flavors and texture when I got to try several sips of it. Again, one thing that really stood out was the variety of selections one could make when customizing their drink. This place looks like it has rotating/seasonal options and an interesting food menu as well and so I do plan on returning!

I ordered a Grilled Pork Banh Mi with medium spicy, and sat in the AC'd store while they prepared my food. Got my hot bag, then went on my way towards Prospect Park. Due to unforeseen events, I ate my Banh Mi about 2 hours later, while it was still warm enough, this banh mi was still absolutely delicious. The sandwich has a slight kick (pretty strong for medium), but it was definitely not overwhelming. Pickled veggies are fresh, crispy, and not overpowering either. The meat was delicious!!! Grilled perfectly, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Bun is also delicious. I don't know what to say, didn't try their pho or boba, but their banh mi is worth a visit, and a return visit. Today's rolls were what they're supposed to be: the rice paper was thin and tender to the bite. The Garden Roll included cucumbers and mint (shredded carrots absent. Or maybe it's supposed to be without?) and the Summer roll lined up the shrimp which was visible through the rice paper. Both were delicious. Important key to these rolls is the peanut dipping sauce. Theirs was thick enough but with the ability to dip those yummy rolls with every bite. Satisfied customer and will return.

The grass jelly was very minimal for paucity - total dismay. The entire drink was embedded with lime, lime pulp and fresh pieces of peach fruit. I wanted the supporting cast to be grass jelly and the lead to be Jasmine green tea, but this lime and heavy lime pulp were aggravating annoyance that stole the spotlight. I decribe the amount of herbal jelly topping to be scant, conveying insufficiency or minimalism. There were absolutely nothing alleged special of this peach sauce. I have chosen my default 30% sugar which highly counteracted with the lime. The lime and lime pulp were very strong. My drink tasted intensely sour, albeit refreshing.
