We spent 3 nights here in August of 2026 and were delighted that we did. It's an oasis in downtown Oceanside. The staff are delightful, the resort is very will organized and well maintained. There's a locked gate to enter a very short path to Buccaneer Beach. Spaces are concrete paved and the utilities are perfectly positioned. My only comment would be that there's not much room between spaces so it's tight, but still very maneuverable. Keep in mind, this is prime real estate close to the beach, so it's expected that they need to make the best use of their acreage. Paradise is a very neat place to get away.

The bathrooms are clean, the pool and spa are sparkling and the onsite store is stocked with necessities. The laundry is open 24hours, super clean though I don't use the facilities. We will be back as soon the summer hits. Walking distance to a beachy peninsular area. Onsite cornhole, chess, & connect four are in the hang area. There are trains all day long but never found it to be a major issue. The loudest noise is the duly and diesel trucks that are onsite inside camp. You can hear the ocean mostly. Linda, in particular, was so rude to me because I asked when the kids' craft would start (since it was 1.5 hrs late and no staff had shown up). She started talking about me when I walked away. The campground is completely rundown. The turf on the mini-golf course is torn and bumpy; the numerous water features are dry; there isn't a single umbrella in the pool area for guests; the wooden benches are termite-infested and broken; and all the wood on the outside of the buildings is damaged by woodpeckers and heat. Basically, it looks like they spent a lot of money setting up the site years ago, but never invested in its upkeep.

We realized after our first night that the spot was not going to work for us, it was too small for our travel trailer and large truck. We went to the onsite office and asked about changing spots. The three ladies in the office didn't hesitate and immediately went to work looking for a larger spot for us. They did, spot #104. And not only did they allow us to move, they didn't charge us the difference for the remaining 3 nights. Customer Service is alive and well here at Escondido RV Resort! It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. A few things I love about this camping experience: - They allow all forms of camping. Tent, RV, van, etc. - The site has clean bathrooms and warm showers. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. Truly the most memorable 32nd birthday activity with all my favorite people.

I lucked out and found a super close parking spot in the neighborhood across the street. The beach itself was VERY short compared to sand length at other beaches so people were almost on top of each other. There was a pretty intense drop off about half way down the sand so it limited space for people to put down their stuff and lay out. I'm not sure how normal it is at this spot but there was a TON of rocks. It was way too much to be able to enter the water without having them beating your feet and ankles. My friend was bleeding after trying to check out the water. The surf was also a little intense that day so I'm wondering if that had any effect on the rock situation? This was a very clean beach with restrooms at the bottom of the ramp from the street so it did have that going for it but we decided to leave and head for a beach where we could safely go into the water that day. I'll have to come back another time to get a better idea.

Luckily, Idyllwild Park was only a short drive away and absolutely delivered. Easy access to snow, not overly crowded, and perfect for families. Our kid played there all day and was thrilled. We couldn't get two campsites next to each other, but we were across the street from one another so it wasn't a big problem. I would take a look at the map first so you know where your site is otherwise you'll need to backtrack. I had zero expectations and experience with camping and I thought the campsite was big enough for 2-3 families to hang out comfortably. We were close to the other sites, but fortunately it wasn't loud and everyone was pleasant. The restroom was clean and we didn't opt for the shower. I did take a stroll to see the other campsites and I noticed some were smaller and some were on a slope. Unfortunately we couldn't use the fire ring/pit, but my kid had a blast with his friends. This is a great campsite for beginners.

I read about The Holiday's on Trip Advisr and was pleased to find mid-week openings the next week. I paid for one night in advance, but after the fun my granddaughter had that first day, I paid for another night and am glad to have done so. The turquoise and white trailer, "The Drifter" is adorable, as are all four units. Andy, the owner/ manager is friendly, easy to reach by phone, and stops by each day to provide for the needs of his current renters, and to prep for the next to arrive. With an included fridge, freezer, 3 burner stove, plates, cups, mugs, utensils, bbq utensils, sink with running water, heat, ample sleeping for 4, bath towels, beach towels, USB ports, board games, cards, and a bluetooth sound system, the trailer offers plenty of convenience for its diminuative size. For a small extra charge a generator provides AC, microwave and electricity. Each trailer gas picnic table, charcoal bbq, and a firepit... though we joined other campers at the communal firepit and enjoyed making new friends. The Holiday's Community has a shared storage shed filled with complimentary games (Jenga, Cornhole, Horseshoes, oversized Checkers, Bocce Ball, etc.) beach supplies (umbrellas, boogie boards, noodles). The beach is gorgeous... there are two paths to access the beach, one is quite steep and the hike back up is tough. The other path nearest to the Visitor Center is less steep. All in all, big props to The Holiday's! I will definitely be returning.
