This is following the…read morefact that I had signed up with a couple of different Temp Staffing Agency in both Oakland and SF. Very rarely, I felt like i was or would get any fair consideration for the many opportunities and jobs out there. UNTIL, I finally met with Kim. Kim took the proper time to interview me and go in to depth about my work experience and what I was looking for moving forward. We discussed my likes, strength, weaknesses and preferences. Since then, Kim has considered me for several assignments and has placed me at a couple of great locations. Kim is very professional and respects me as a highly skilled employee and appreciates any and all feedback I can provide back to her. Especially, about the work and my experience about the assignments I do accept. Certified has worked out great for me. They have been an amazing Employment Group and have been extremely beneficial in me returning back into the work place. There is a lot of paper work to fill out and submit and there are also some assessment test, but nothing too extreme like other agencies. I have been very fortunate to have given them a try and that chance has really been paying off. Thank you Kim!

The receptionist (Zaza) was very nice and attentive. The interview: There were no real hard questions. Came in interested in the mail clerical position and the data entry position I found on Craigslist. The staffing specialist (Keely Walsh) just wanted to make sure that I was ok working in a production driven environment. I took a alphanumeric test and passed! I got the data entry position which pays better. I signed and reviewed the paperwork online. Background Check: A few days later I went to the location I would be working at and filled out some more paperwork and they live scanned me. Currently just waiting on the results so I can go in for the 3 day training. I will update this post once I get working into the job. Training: Training was easy. Manpower scheduled me for a 1 day security training in which I watched a PowerPoint slide and after that they scheduled me for on the job training which was only about 2 hours of actual training. Job: The job was one of the most funnest jobs I've ever had. My bosses were awesome! Thank you so much Manpower! I really did enjoy my time at that job.

I have no network in Oakland, and it feels like I've been throwing resumes into a black hole. So I…read morestarted looking in to staffing agencies. I saw a online post that this agency was having a job fair. It wasn't a job fair. A job fair is when employers all set up little tables in a shitty conference room. This was an open house where you could walk in and talk to their recruiters...something you could do any day of the week, I imagine. There were two recruiters sitting in one cubicle chatting. They told me to fill out the questionnaire on the table and pointed...sorta. So, I took the 1.5 minutes to fill out the crappy little questionnaire, and then I sat listening to them gossip for five minutes. Finally, I stood up and walked over and waited for one of them to acknowledge me. One was wearing Uggs... this should have been a sign to turn around and walk out. They literally both sighed and rolled their eyes and one of them said, "I'll take him." We sit down, and I hand her my resume. She pays no attention. She asks if I registered online, and I say yes. She pulls up my record and says, "I can't do anything with you until you finish your online profile." I tell her that I'm happy to finish the online profile and then I sketch out what I'm looking for in terms of employment. I ask if that's something her agency can work with. Impatiently, she says, "Sir, I can't look in to anything for you until you finish your online profile. I need to see your education history and work experience." I point out that my resume - which she has completely ignored - contains all of that information. I notice that she keeps fidgeting and looking over to the other side of her desk. I glance over - there is a fucking ice cream sandwich melting onto her desk! It's sitting in a stained Starbucks lid dripping onto the desktop. She sees me starring at the sandwich and then back at her. She mumbles something about how I'll need to be tested and provide a couple of forms of ID. "I can see that you're more interested in your snack than working with me, so I'll just go." She says that she can find me something, but that its my fault for not reading the post correctly. I get that often times, recruiters end up playing sort of case manager to folks with inconsistent employment history...and that's a tough job. But the attitude given to me by the recruiter indicated that she was unorganized, unprofessional and likely ineffective at her job. I don't want to work with an agency that makes people like her their first contact point.

There's so much good things I have to say about this employment agency!…read moreFor starters, they have such great staff! My recruiter was Cassandra Ulloa, and she helped me find a contractor position with Genentech (So. San Francisco). (She also works really fast to find you position that you're fit for). And after 6 months of working at Genentech, They offered me a FTE regular position with them! Cassandra was so helpful with the initial interview stage, and even helped prepare me by doing a mock interview (which helped alot - since Genentech actually asked the same questions surprisingly lol). My point-of-contact during my Contractor employment period was Lindsey Deering & Dericka Pradt. They were both so extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and ALWAYS available whenever I had a question. I could always call them or email them, and they always got back to me same-day. Very good attention to clients. Regarding the process of working through Aerotek, it is very easy hiring process, and they offer medical benefits + dental & vision as well. They also have online statements for your tax stubs and W2, which is convenient. Also, they offer HSA, which I really liked. They are so awesome! If I ever look for a new job again, I'll definitely be coming back to Aerotek for assistance. :)
