Aside from all of this my friends were telling me that Marvin told them that they don't know where they will be pulling the money out from for them to get paid- If you guys don't have the money then why are you accepting people? This place has a low rating and that's because of unprofessional management.

West Oakland Job Resource Center TDL Pre-Apprenticeship Program…read more I am so grateful for this opportunity, there is so much to be said about this pre- apprenticeship program. I am a person who has been out of work due to a disability for the past 15years. After a lot of therapy (mental, physical and emotional) I took back my power and began my search for something that could help me become whole again financially and educationally. My journey took me to Mandela Construction Apprenticeship, the course wasn't available at the time. I sat asked questions, then I was introduced to gentleman who made a call that led me to the TDL Apprenticeship, which is an industry that I am familiar and passionate about. This guy Mr. Douglas Butler actually met me down at West Oakland Job Resource Center when I began my journey by first filling out an application and doing an orientation with Ms. Regina this was on June 27th 2023. The orientation was group centered with about 10 people. At that time we were introduced to this Powerhouse of a woman Joyce Guy- founding director, who gave a honest and straightforward presentation and conversation about the reality of having a career, building a career and sustaining it. Which I was in awe with. Rarely do people take the time to speak honestly about mentally and emotionally seeing your shit so you can keep a job. Doing your work on all levels so that you can be successful and then put you with a team of professionals to cover all bases so you don't have an excuse to not have a quality high paying career with full benefits. We were assigned to careers coaches to flush out what we wanted to do and a beginning plan on getting there. I walked out of orientation and immediately told 20 more people and posted them on my Facebook page. I was called in soon after to join the Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Pre-Apprenticeship Program where I was was blown away with extensive support, training and opportunities. In one months time ... West Oakland Job Resource Center/WOJRC & International Brotherhood of Teamsters (September 2023) Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Training -TDL (Worker's Rights Training), (CPR/First Aid Certificate), (OSHA-10 Certificate), (Forklift Training & Certificate), Commercial Driver's License Permit Training & Certification- Endorsements- Tanker (N), Doubles & Triples (T), Hazardous Materials (H) and Airbrakes- 2023 www.c1training.com/online (Hazmat Theory Requirement & ELDT Mandate Training & Certification)- September 2023 Clean DMV Record-2023, Clean TSA Background Security Screening and check-2023, Complete Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Exam-2023, TWIC Card with Hazardous Materials Endorsement-2023 Now that I am two months out I am starting my behind the wheel training with Teamsters and meeting with my financial coach Wanda Kidd, regular check ins with my career coaches Denise, Atreese with anything I need a resume, outfit for interview, or even a listening ear. The team is much more extensive there are names I can't remember right now but every person is there for your success. I won't give everything away but I can tell you this I haven't had to come out of pocket to make these things happen. A way has been made and I am taking the opportunity taking my power back and living my success story. Thank you for being part of my journey. Karla....

The receptionist (Zaza) was very nice and attentive. The interview: There were no real hard questions. Came in interested in the mail clerical position and the data entry position I found on Craigslist. The staffing specialist (Keely Walsh) just wanted to make sure that I was ok working in a production driven environment. I took a alphanumeric test and passed! I got the data entry position which pays better. I signed and reviewed the paperwork online. Background Check: A few days later I went to the location I would be working at and filled out some more paperwork and they live scanned me. Currently just waiting on the results so I can go in for the 3 day training. I will update this post once I get working into the job. Training: Training was easy. Manpower scheduled me for a 1 day security training in which I watched a PowerPoint slide and after that they scheduled me for on the job training which was only about 2 hours of actual training. Job: The job was one of the most funnest jobs I've ever had. My bosses were awesome! Thank you so much Manpower! I really did enjoy my time at that job.

I saw a online post that this agency was having a job fair. It wasn't a job fair. A job fair is when employers all set up little tables in a shitty conference room. This was an open house where you could walk in and talk to their recruiters...something you could do any day of the week, I imagine. There were two recruiters sitting in one cubicle chatting. They told me to fill out the questionnaire on the table and pointed...sorta. So, I took the 1.5 minutes to fill out the crappy little questionnaire, and then I sat listening to them gossip for five minutes. Finally, I stood up and walked over and waited for one of them to acknowledge me. One was wearing Uggs... this should have been a sign to turn around and walk out. They literally both sighed and rolled their eyes and one of them said, "I'll take him." We sit down, and I hand her my resume. She pays no attention. She asks if I registered online, and I say yes. She pulls up my record and says, "I can't do anything with you until you finish your online profile." I tell her that I'm happy to finish the online profile and then I sketch out what I'm looking for in terms of employment. I ask if that's something her agency can work with. Impatiently, she says, "Sir, I can't look in to anything for you until you finish your online profile. I need to see your education history and work experience." I point out that my resume - which she has completely ignored - contains all of that information. I notice that she keeps fidgeting and looking over to the other side of her desk. I glance over - there is a fucking ice cream sandwich melting onto her desk! It's sitting in a stained Starbucks lid dripping onto the desktop. She sees me starring at the sandwich and then back at her. She mumbles something about how I'll need to be tested and provide a couple of forms of ID. "I can see that you're more interested in your snack than working with me, so I'll just go." She says that she can find me something, but that its my fault for not reading the post correctly. I get that often times, recruiters end up playing sort of case manager to folks with inconsistent employment history...and that's a tough job. But the attitude given to me by the recruiter indicated that she was unorganized, unprofessional and likely ineffective at her job. I don't want to work with an agency that makes people like her their first contact point.

After being passed around on the phone to a variety of recruiters, I was finally able to speak with a woman named Annie. She basically told me that she couldn't help me find an entry level temp job because I was a "transition employee." Nice attitude for a company that is THEIR job to help employ people.

It's funny almost every review on here is a bad experience, but they all have something in common,…read morethey probably didn't get placed. Let's get a few things straight, this is a agency. There are hundreds of different agencies in the bay area, and they all provide a service. No company that provides a service will get perfect ratings. People are always easy to say negative things, but how many actually say good things? (This post is a prime example) They're not successful unless they are putting people to work. I'm sure they run into a ton of people every day, is everyone deserving of a job? With unemployment being so low, can anyone honestly say everyone is willing to give it 100% and make a living without an excuse? I contacted Aerotek right out of college, as well as a few other agencies, no names. I was always skeptical about agencies because I always thought it would be temp. I was in contact with all 3. The other agencies had jobs available and wanted me to go to work quickly, which was great! I needed a job. However, I wasn't too interested in the positions they had. Not once did they ask me what my major was, or what I wanted to do. In my mind, it was only going to be temp regardless. Then there was Aerotek, I was assigned to a recruiter, Julio. He was always in constant contact with me, which was surprising. He got to know me, and found out what I liked to do. I met with him at the Alameda office. I went through the back entrance. Everyone was nice and lively, seem like they were a cool office. Julio and I sat down, chatted about me and my hobbies, and my goals and interest. He then presented me with a few opportunities, and gave me the option to chose from. OPTIONS! Who doesn't like options? The other agencies didn't do this. I was blown away from this whole experience, it really changed the way I felt about staffing agencies, but Aerotek overall. I ended up not taking any of the opportunities Julio presented to me. I ended up taking a position with another company internally. But still to this day, I have nothing but respect and admiration for Aerotek. They left a great impression on me, and I would not hesitate to contact them if I ever were looking for another position. Julio actually still reaches out to me every now and then to see how I'm doing. He actually linked one of his partners with my brother, and got him in a job at a local hospital. The service I've received from day one has been amazing. Don't let all these negative reviews turn you away. I did my research, and Aerotek is one of the top staffing agencies in the industry. Not everyone is going to get a job there, there are some lazy individuals out there that won't be worth anyone's time. If you're looking for a agency, I would HIGHLY recommend giving this one a try. I wasn't disappointed.
