This was my second time coming to the Tejas Rodeo. It's so much fun! Great show and atmosphere. Love being able to come here and make it a "must do" when I come visit family. Plenty of things and food options too! read more

Fun and different!! Great to bring guest to from out of the area!! The rodeo and bull riding is fun on a smaller scale and the music is a nice way to end the evening. read more

The food, was great, steak prepared perfectly. Service was amazing and love the ambiance. The rodeo was amazing and a lot of fun to watch.

This is an absolute must if you are in the San Antonio area. My family and I are moving to the New Braunfels area from NJ. We were in the area looking at properties and decided to see the rodeo. We had such a great time and everyone was so friendly. The live music afterwards was great!! Can't wait to call Texas our home and to be able to visit the Tejas Rodeo again!! read more

This place is awesome. We often come for special occasions, but it's great every time you want a steak. The service is even better than the food and portions. Brought friends from out of state tonight and it was simply a great experience. Easy to have conversation and enjoy a wine tasting from a local winery. Can't wait to come back. read more

I spend a lot of my time looking for fun things to do with my Dad. He has terminal cancer, and , if not pushed to do things, sits in the dark in his house waisting what little time he has left. Dad has always enjoyed rodeos. So, when Groupon offered half price tickets to Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde, I jumped at the chance to buy them. I told Dad in his Father's Day card that I would be taking him there whenever he wanted this summer. Dad chose this evening. I loved Tejas Rodeo. We got there early enough to walk around looking at the animals and learning the lay of the land. There is so much more to it than a rodeo arena. The have a walk up window where you can order a great traditional Texas barbecue plate among many other things inclucing a selection of steaks. Plus, there is the Cantina, a little hut to the side that serves adult beverages. It is a full bar. Margaritas were $4 and beer was $3. You can either have one meat, two meats, or three meats on the barbecue plate. Best of all, you only add fifty cents for each additional meat! They let you choose two sides, also. Dad had a single meat plate with brisket, cole slaw, and potato salad. I felt like I needed to take one for the team and sample three meats. I chose the brisket, pork loin, and ribs with potato salad and cream corn. Everything on my plate was wonderful. The meats were all very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. It was well worth the $10.00 price tag, and truly could have fed two people. There are other food choices over at another little hut including hamburgers and hot dogs. Whoever you are with, and whatever they like, there is probably a good option. Check out the menu on their site. The rodeo was very well done. It was extremely fast paced. They went from one thing right to another with none of the down time I remember as a child from rodeos. The only events that were missing were steer wrestling and bronco riding. However, the Mutton Bustin' event in which 4 -7 year olds rode lambs until they fell off, more than made up for that. There was a dance after the rodeo, but we didn't stay for that. The band sounded great though. read more

Just as amazing 4 years later. Took my niece (who my sister was pregnant with on my last visit) and had a pretty dope Auntie/Niece evening. Excellent food/drinks, all the charm, adorable bartenders, great vendors/souvenir shops, and fun entertainment not too far from town...make time for a Rodeo night when you're in San Antonio. read more

Tejas Rodeo - Steakhouses Near Me - Bulverde, Texas

What a great night. I came to Tejas Rodeo with my family. We've eaten at the steakhouse many times but I had not had the pleasure to come to the rodeo until this weekend. My niece was mutton bustin', so I was especially excited to be a part of everything. The arena is practically new still. It's a really fantastic way to spend a night with your family, but I could imagine it being a lot of fun for grown-ups only as well. I like perusing the grounds and seeing the different booths set up but on this particular night it was practically flooding so there wasn't much in this regard due to that. There were food booths galore however. Also in the mention of the flooding - if there's a ton of rain, drive a truck. My cousin came in a car and got stuck. We came in a truck and got semi-stuck but were able to get out. Now for the rodeo. I'm no expert but this was fun to watch. It wasn't the same caliber as maybe some other rodeos I've been to but definitely was a great group of people competing and all in all I had a wonderful time watching. My niece barrel races (she's 5 not necessarily pro yet) and was super excited to see the big girls do it! And I also just love the traditions that go with rodeo that run rampant here. A good singing of the National Anthem and a good prayer for the animals participating doesn't hurt either. read more

We are so disappointed with the way the rodeo was held. Although there was caution tape on every other bench, no one listened to that, or staying 6 feet away from each other on the same bench. It was PACKED, although the website says it's at limited capacity, and not a single person but us was wearing masks. No one was enforcing staying away from each other. We left before it even started. We will not be going back there. We were so excited going to celebrate our 1 year anniversary there because we got married at their venue and were so disappointed when we had to leave Bc of how irresponsible that entire rodeo was. read more

This was my first real rodeo experience. It is a true rodeo as per a local I was sitting next to. the good thing is, you're pretty much right there and can see the competitors right in front of you. The bigger, annual rodeos are so huge they're similar to a sports arena....so expect to get some nosebleed seats for the same price. For only $10, it was well worth the admission. There is also free live music and dancing afterwards. Tip #1: You don't need to buy tickets online. Just bring enough cash with you. They have separate lines for cars, the "online payers" and the "cash payers". The cash line was actually FASTER than our line. Tip #2: skip the BBQ. I've had better BBQ, even the non-texan kind. The brisket was way too fatty. the pulled pork was eh at best. The ribs were the best out of the sampler, and even those were subpar. We ordered our meal at the vendor. They accept credit cards, which was at least a plus. read more

What a night! Fun fast-paced rodeo followed by live music at the venue. Anything you can ask for regarding a great Saturday night out. BBQ at the venue concession stand was good, not great. We did not eat at the steakhouse, so please do not take this concession stand review the wrong way. Beers and cocktails are great value for the price! We will definitely be back to enjoy some Southern entertainment and hospitality. Keep up the good work boys! read more

Great Rodeo, a really nice taste of an actual rodeo on a smaller scale. "Took my kids to the rodeo. Family friendly- mechanical bull- dancing - live music- photo opportunity - rodeo was good too- great for singles, couples and families. After the rodeo there is lots of dancing. My kids had a great time. It's a smaller rodeo but they do it right. read more

Cool spot for live local rodeo and music. Most weekends will have a band and small rodeo. It's a great place for family and kids. The rodeo lasts about an hour and is before the band comes on. Sometimes the crowd changes during the band, so kids may not want to stay. But still very welcoming to families. read more

Super cool venue for a cool Texas rodeo experience. The place itself is way off the beaten path and you'll need to make a whole night outta it. Remember: Bring insect repellent Also, check out the steak restaurant. It looks pricey but they have a Yelp and Groupon deal that makes it worth the money. read more

We were in town for a week and found the Tejas Rodeo! What a great time! They kept it entertaining and fun! Kept it moving and always action going on! Lots of space, a few bars, food, snacks and plenty of outdoor space! If we are back in San Antonio - would definitely visit again. We ate dinner at the onsite restaurant - it was terrific! read more

A great evening and great deal. visiting San Antonio for first time . Ate at the steakhouse which was delicious! the rodeo was very entertaining and the band very very good. Wish I knew how to two step. This was our favorite evening in san Antonio!! read more

Awesome local experience. Brought a friend from out of town and they enjoyed it very much. Can get crowded so arrive early and buy tickets early. Parking is easy coming in but they park everyone so close that I had a hard time just getting out of my parking spot without coming inches to the next truck over. There is dancing and music after 9pm but it is so crowded with middle/high school crowd. Like CROWDED. I saw parents dropping kids off in droves. that sort of kills the vibe. I do wish the dancing and stuff was 18+ read more

I was visiting my daughter and her family when I went with my granddaughter to Tejas for her riding class.I just fell in love with this place. Everyone is so nice! A great experience all around. The rodeo is an awesome family experience and the restaurant is amazing for the service, quality of food.

Probably a great show. Sounds good. Way oversold and we are sitting outside with tons of other people barely hearing the announcer. Wish they'd just turned us away. Can't believe we paid $15 per person to sit at picnic tables NEAR a rodeo. No view. We've walked through a couple of times and there is no seating in the stands or even around the arena. What a waste of time and money! read more

Not a price friendly rodeo for the kiddos. Unless you are desperate for practice and feel like being nickel and dimed to death, dont let bother. They raised the entries fees this year. We tried to take my boyfriends son to mutton bust and they charged a $12 admission fee on top of the entry fee. This isnt a pro rodeo, its local. read more

Ok..... so this exceeded our expectations, quite a pleasant surprise! My wife booked this because she figured our daughter would enjoy the animals. I didn't think much of it but was down. It's a bit of a ride but not too far, maybe 30 minutes or so outside of the city. We ate at the steakhouse before the show and it was simple but delicious. It's what you expect from a down home Texas steakhouse. Nothing fancy, just good quality beef, solid service. The KC steak was tender and flavorful. The burger my wife had was perfect but the fries..... AMAZING! I'm not even a French fry guy, but those were proper. We took my daughter to ride the pony and she enjoyed that experience before going to the show. The show is well polished. It's not amateur hour. The music, the flow, the rodeo itself, all highly entertaining. My daughter had a blast. She danced all night and even volunteered to chase the calves (which was shocking because she's so cautious). If you're in town with your family or even a date night and looking for something different, I highly recommend it. read more

First let me say, this was my first rodeo and definitely won't be my last thanks to Tejas. The experience Tejas provided was amazing. From the venue to the food. The grounds were very clean, the food was so good! The show was spectacular, and the seats were all clean. The whole property was very well taken care of. You can tell going to Tejas they take pride in what they do. The after party was awesome, the band was great! The dancing was awesome. Parking is super easy as well. 10/10 would definitely recommended Tejas to anyone who plans on going to a rodeo for the best experience. read more

Another fun night at the Texas Rodeo. My Family was in town and took them there for the evening. Inexpensive entertainment in the hill country from the rodeo to the live music. read more

I've written a review about the restaurant which I think has the best KC cut steak around! (Might be the only for that matter) We've taken guests our of town for the rodeo and have especially enjoyed the kids practicing their riding and roping. Great family fun. Have not tried any of the outside "cafes" so can't comment on their service or food. No, it's not Ruth Chris, or anything in the Pearl Brewery or Tobin center area. This is Texas with dust n grit and boot scootin action. (Boots are not required by highly recommended) read more

Went here for the first time tonight with some friends and really enjoyed it! We never even knew it was there so when we found out about it and heard good things we had to go. When we first walked in we saw different outdoor bars and a mechanical bull, which was pretty cool. Theres a dance floor and stage were live bands perform. I wish we had eaten at the restaurant just to try it but maybe some other time. We definitely enjoyed the rodeo though! The only downside was the cold weather. I really hope to go back sometime soon! read more

I came here Saturday night with a friend, it is the first rodeo for this California boy. We arrived around 6PM, $10 per person, $3.5 for beer and $5 for whiskey. I really enjoyed the experience, there are alot of tourists so I didn't feel like a newbie there. After the rodeo, we enjoyed the steak at the steakhouse (best rib eye I ever had), and enjoy the music and dancing at the Dancehall. A great place for out towner, tourist and family. I can't wait to bring my friends here. read more

The food at the steakhouse was amazing! I had the KC for beginners and I can't overstate how delicious it was. I also had the mac and cheese on the side, the fried pickles and some of the cornbread. It was all so good! The rodeo itself was pretty fun. Tons of people and a fun atmosphere. The band that played after the rodeo was good. It was a great people-watching opportunity. read more

While visiting my dad in Texas, he said this was a MUST visit restaurant. We went to Tejas on my last night in Texas, and wish we had gone sooner. This place is a little hidden, especially in the dark (until you are close and can see their bright neon sign!). I would have never guessed there was a restaurant where Tejas is located. We beat the rest of my family there, so my dad and I stood and watched the riders practice their roping skills. It was very chilly out, so it didnt last long. As soon as we walked in we were greeted. My dad, who is a regular, requested a specific waitress. He was very pleased to get her (if only I could remember her name...Amber, Amanda....? She is from California, and super sweet!). She was great! She was very patient with our big group, and got our order perfect. We started with the pickles and peppers and some mushrooms. I love me some friend pickles, and these were amazing! As far as friend mushrooms go, I normally am not a huge fan, but these were SO good. Not sure what they marinate them in before the batter and cook them, but made them 100x better than anywhere else! We got the KC for 5, and my dad said medium was the best way to get it cooked. Personally, next time I will get my portion a little more done (not a fan of bloody steak). But it was so tender and flavorful, that the pink didnt even matter. I had a salad, green beans and mac and cheese as sides, and OMG. The green beans were to DIE for! I cannot wait to come back to eat here again. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I will try to come back on a rodeo night, because I am sure it would be a TON of fun! read more

We decided to go to the rodeo while on vacation in San Antonio after seeing its high rating. While driving further and further into the country, we got a little nervous about what we were getting into especially when we saw that most of the cars coming in were towing horse trailers. Once we figured out we were in the performer's line and got everything figured out, we had a great time. The whole experience was very cheap, from admission to beer, in fact so much so I asked the bartender if she had made a mistake. The rodeo itself was a lot of fun. They do a great job of keeping things moving so children and those not intimately familiar with rodeo events don't get bored. They also did a great job of explaining all the events to the audience and highlighting the star performers; they seem to bring in championship competitors from across the country as well as newcomers trying to make a name for themselves. The rodeo lasted about 2 hours and included an introduction, bull riding, cattle roping, barrel riding, stunt riding, and more. One of the more fun events was the children riding sheep and trying to break the time record. In addition to this, they had a few other kid themed events to keep them involved. After the rodeo ended a band started up and the dancing began. As a couple that has never two stepped before, we took our place as spectators, but enjoyed watching others fling each other around. read more

The Tejas Rodeo is a fun and charming western experience. I'm not a rodeo fan and am new to Texas, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The night we went, the place was jammed with families looking for a good reasonably-priced night of entertainment, and the Tejas Rodeo delivered. (In fact, it was a little too jammed--I wasn't terribly comfortable wedged into the overstuffed bleachers.) This is exactly as I imagine an old-fashioned rodeo to be. No fluff or tricks; just men and women competing against themselves and beasts. From the opening with the American Anthem to a prayer for the safety of the riders to the mutton bustin' (kids hanging on for dear life on the back of sheep) to the cowboys ropin' and ridin' bulls, it was a no-nonsense night of rodeo. (Sorry for droppin' all the G's, but that just seems appropriate for this review.) The grounds of the rodeo are nice, also. Small retailers set up so you can purchase jewelry, cowboy hats or a new leather wallet. Food is available (although we didn't try it since we ate at the Steakhouse--another four-star experience!) A band was playing some fun country western music, and the hall felt like a family wedding with people of all ages dancing and enjoying the tunes. The Tejas Rodeo was a pleasant, fun, relaxing and affordable experience. Even if you don't know or like rodeo, it's hard to go wrong spending a few hours here. read more
