When you walk in, you're welcomed with the smell of fresh leather, and greeted by the employees and offered a complimentary drink. It comes in a super cool coozy that you get to keep. This last time I went in with my children, and they even offered my daughter her own water and brought out a coloring page and pencils for her to keep her busy. It meant so much to us that they even cared about her experience. My husband and I both ended up getting boots and hats. I got the Charlie's and my husband got the Deans. Andrew was so helpful in the process and answering any questions we had. We will definitely be back. UPDATE: We had some issues with the Dean boots and thankfully Christina was so helpful in resolving the issue for us after we had been in many times trying to handle the situation. I recently went into the Fashion Valley store to pick up a belt for my husband for our anniversary. Andrew, the store manager, was extremely helpful. He explained all of the different styles of belts and assisted me in choosing the correct size. I made the mistake of buying boots here. It started with having to wait months for the boots to come into stock. I was able to track down two pairs in Texas. I was told one pair was a display and I told the girl I did NOT want the display boots. Then when I tried to pay for them over the phone, the girl told me my promo code wasn't working. So I tried it online on their website and it worked on a more expensive pair of boots. I sent the girl a screenshot of the boots and proof the code worked. I had to speak to the manager to get them to honor their own promo code. She lied to me to try to get me to pay more and it did not work. Yesterday my boots arrived at the store. One boot was faded some from light exposure and had small marks from handling. It was the display boots obviously. They tried to pass it off anyway and lied to me again. Here's the kicker. There was a man in the store buying the exact same boots, and guess what, they didn't show me the boots. Why? Because they were the good pair that was supposed to be for me. I wanted boots so I did take them with a grain of salt. I am pretty pissed off that a company would do business like that. I am a disabled man with an incurable deadly disease and I don't know how long I have to live. I also work for the NAVY. These people tried very hard more than once to take advantage of me and they did. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. If you are military, avoid this place. Go to a better store and get what you pay for and are told your getting. I just want to be sure this doesn't happen to you. These people are the scum of the earth. read more

Just left walking out with a pair of boots for my kid. Horrible service and will not be going back. Knew what I wanted to get before I got into the store. Nobody acknowledged us when we got inside, I had to go to the boot we wanted and stand there with it in my hand while I literally waited to get the attention from someone that was available. Also was never offered drinks either by any staff yet I noticed many people were getting the free drinks from associates. Mind you I was already a confirmed buyer and we closed the sale to have the boots branded at the counter. Will not be going back in the future. Real leather, so it's not cheap, but you get what you pay for! During their grand opening, they offered complimentary ranch water (flavored seltzer), beer, and whisky. Service was horrible. People often rave about the in-store Tecovas experience and how great their customer service is, but this was anything but that. The workers were rude and not attentive at all. It started out great, we walked in, they offered us drinks and then it took a turn and sat for about 20 minutes before anyone even approached us to ask if we needed any help getting sizes to try on. It was a rainy weekday at about 6pm, with very little people in the store, so it was not a situation of being understaffed and overworked. When a worker finally came over, she opened with, "So what are we doing here?" in a rude, unenthusiastic tone. From there, it only got worse. She wasn't attentive. I asked for two different sizes of boots in two different styles, which she brought to me but after that she disappeared. She did not check back in and I had decided I wanted to try one of those styles in a size up. I then had to wait about another 20 minutes just to even try to flag her down, which eventually I gave up and went to a different employee because she was nowhere to be found. After the second employee brought me the size I needed, the original employee suddenly reappeared and gave us attitude, acting like we were trying on boots just for fun rather than seriously considering a purchase. It honestly felt like a "Pretty Woman" moment. I already own boots from another company, so I was genuinely in the market to branch out and try Tecovas. But after this experience, I'll be purchasing from Boot Barn. It was extremely disappointing and completely turned me off from buying here. I actually went to Boot Barn the next evening and had a great experience. What's interesting is that this specific location seems to be the issue. I've been to the San Juan Capistrano Tecovas store, and their employees are enthusiastic, helpful, and genuinely kind. This was the complete opposite. The Friars Road location's employees were unhelpful and clearly didn't care. read more

I came into this Tecovas location to look for my first pair of Western boots. I've never owned a pair before, so I was browsing and asking questions. I asked if a specific boot came in a women's size, not realizing that style wasn't made for women. Instead of kindly explaining that and then offering similar women's options, the associate laughed and responded in a condescending way, which made me feel embarrassed and talked down to. It wasn't until she noticed I was irritated and ready to leave that she offered alternatives. I wasn't upset that the boot didn't come in my size -- I was upset by how the situation was handled. I came in on Monday and was very excited about seeing this new Western Shop as I had seen it advertised on TV about a week ago. When I walked in I and was immediately greeted by the smiling face of the General Manager Andrew. The first thing he said to me was how much he liked my outfit . I really appreciated that. He let me know that they'd been open for the last two and a half weeks and on the weekends the bar was going to be open he had just received his license. If you are wondering what they are going to be serving you will have to come in. ; ) I let him know that I had really been looking forward to coming in here and was it okay to take some photos of his new store. He was very excited about that. One of the first things I noticed when I walked in was the richness if the smell of the leather. I love that smell! Andrew introduced me to Jacob who was very willing to pose with me and against the fabulous mural behind the bar. I was offered a sparkling water drink which really quenched my thirst it being another hot day again. The clothes are very well made and the boots are beautiful with amazing colors to choose from. I love a shop with great customer service. The employees were attentive to my family and very friendly. There were many styles of boots for both men and women. From what I've read, the leather is sourced from Leon, Mexico. The shop's aroma of leather is a sure sign of authenticity. Be prepared to pay a pretty penny but you get what you pay for. the products are somewhat decent but if your gonna spend money on a product you as the customer should expect the company to act in a professional manner and honor company policies, the company offers a resole program and it's about a 4-6 week process but yet if you walk into the store every employee will tell you it's final sale and that they do not have a resole program and that you have to pay a 150$ fee to get your boots redone, I only found all of this out after they decided to replace my boots all together but the manager of the store at fashion valley at the time which is a older blonde girl told me this is final sale and they do not offer any program, and then on the phone call I recently got off of she started falsely accusing Me of being aggressive and disrespecting her when I literally was asking her yes or no questions, she basically got caught red handed and knew her and her employees have been lying about the resole program and I am just suspicious to how much money they have made off of people this year alone just for everyone to not understand the company is actually very proud of their product and that this local store branch is false advertising which is an extremely big legal issue stating that the company doesn't have said policy when it does read more
