A cute little shop that I stumbled upon after visiting the Farmers Market in Little Italy. So glad I stepped in. Beautiful selection of a variety of items. I found just the right thing that tickled my fancy after looking around for a bit. Shop owner was very nice and extremely accommodating when I requested that the small ceramic dish I purchased be wrapped in bubble wrap so I could safely transport it back with me in my luggage. She not only wrapped it once, but she double-wrapped it and then secured it with tape. This little piece will not be broken! Reasonable price for what I bought, as it's truly lovely. The hispanic lady working today was so disrespectful and the service from the start was so rude. I was on my phone and she grabbed my shoulder so hard and told me to stop recording. The jewlery pieces were so beautiful, but the way we were treated was so bad. She didn't let us touch anything without her permission and she was following us around the store. The store has a lot of cute finds but the employee is extremely rude. I came in with my girlfriends and AFTER we purchased she asked my friend to pull up her sleeves as if she had stolen something. She claimed it was very "hard to watch all of us" and proceeded to loom over us every time we tried on a piece of jewelry. I would understand being cautious but this felt extremely downgrading and dehumanizing as we had literally PURCHASED multiple items. I would not recommend coming here. Although the jewelry was very cute, unfortunately this could not make up for the absolute DISRESPECT we dealt with at the hands of the lady working in the store. From the way this lady treated us, you would think she DIDN'T want us to purchase anything. She SNATCHED bracelets from our hands when we attempted to look at them, repeatedly HOVERED over us as we browsed, and even asked our friend to "pull up her sleeves" before she left (Even after she LITERALLY purchased a generous amount of merchandise). As soon as my friends and I stepped into the store the owner stepped outside her counter to examine us in case we were to shoplift from her store. She mistreated all of my friends by constantly forcing us to roll our sleeves up to check for hidden jewelry. Was the absolute worst encounter I had at a retail store and had never felt so profiled. Another cute little shop in Little Italy. This store featured lots of Dream Catchers and unique jewelry. We arrived shortly before closing and I could feel like we were being rushed as the owner or worker wanted to get to her yoga class. My friend and I looked around and she bought a necklace. There was a little issue when my friend was trying to use her Apple Pay so this prolonged our stay which didn't help this worker leave any faster. She was fairly nice but we could definitely feel her urgency to leave. Not a great experience but not the worst I have ever. Just meh! read more

Was in San Diego this past weekend with my girlfriend and wandered into this little shop. What attracted my girlfriend were the dreamcatchers before seeing all the different bracelets that were available (on sale for 30% off) She was able to tell us about a few of the products that were displayed and when I tried to pay in cash for a necklace (even though I was short a dollar) she gave me a discount as she didn't have changed and I truly appreciated (even though she didn't have to!) The shop owner Monica was really hospitable and we had a really nice conversation together. After leaving and returning to home to the Airbnb, my girlfriend told me she wanted to go back to the store as she still wanted to get something again and she must have read my mind because there was a stunning Papaya Art Tiger Print that was on sale there. We returned today and not only was she happy to see us, but she had also discounted the price of the print earlier in the day so that I was able to get it for my girlfriend. I love Rosa Mariposa (Rose Buttlerfly:)! Such a cute boutique in the heart of Little Italy, is its most colorful corner. I am a frequent customer as they tend to have the style of earrings I like, and the prices are very affordable. Before going to Spain last May, I stopped by to get stocked with earrings, bracelets and other goodies for my girlfriends. Happy me, I got those offers of $1 for a pair of beaded earrings, so I went light in luggage, heavy in treasures. The owner is very friendly, we talked for a long time while listening to world music in her store. BEWARE!!!! I was in town for a wedding and came upon this jewelry store. I purchased this beautiful necklace. I paid approximately $60 dollars. The necklace was put in a bag, which I packed with my other fine jewelry items. When I arrived home, I removed the necklace to show my daughter. This is when I noticed the chain had broken off from the pendant. I tried calling the store a few times before my call was finally returned. When I spoke to the owner, she basically accused me of sitting on the necklace and proceeded to tell me that I could mail it back and she would try to get it repaired upon her return to Turkey in four months. I then asked about a refund and was told the didn't give refunds for damaged items. How this shop stays in business is beyond me. I am shocked at the horrible customer service. I will definitely Yelp stores before purchasing items in the future. read more

Rosamariposa gets two stars, based on today's visit. And that's me being generous, because the space is cute, the scarves are cool, the tank tops are reasonably priced and super-soft, and the wooden jewelry (most of it, anyway) is funky and interesting. I walked in with my aunt around 1:00 this afternoon. We were the only customers, and the staff person (owner? gads, I hope not) was busy on the phone, talking all about the website and the problems she was having with it. Now I'm not saying you have to stop your life and be all excited just because we've walked in the door. But a simple smile, some eye contact, a "just a minute" into the phone and a "let me know if I can help you find anything" to us would have gone a long, LONG way. As we wandered around, picking up things, looking at other things, talking about the great tank tops and the funky painted wooden rings, wondering out loud about the lack of price tags on most things, the woman managed to keep her back to us the entire time. I honestly felt like we were disturbing her terribly just by being there. The only time she said anything to us at all was when my aunt leaned on a shelf to look more closely at something. "That's not connected, ma'am." Hmmm. Was she talking to us in that snotty voice? Must've been, because she's been pretty pleasant to whoever she's on the phone with. "Pardon?" says my aunt. She's the kind of woman who says pardon. I'm generally the kind of woman who says, "WHAT?!?", but that's beside the point. Nothing from phone lady. Not connected to what, we wonder? The earth? The floor? The phone conversation? Any hope of us doing business here, despite the aforementioned cool stuff? Good thing I believe in karma and honesty, cuz I had my briefcase over my shoulder and could easily have walked out of Rosamariposa with a bunch of interesting things. Monica, the owner, takes care in helping customers find what they are looking for as well as show them the latest items she might have picked up on a recent trip to Indonesia or India. I found this great jewelry shop while searching "funky jewelry" on Yelp! I was looking for a unique birthday present for a friend, but didn't know where to find reasonably priced rings that were different from the "usual suspects." I don't understand why the person below had such a negative review! When I walked in, the owner was very welcoming and went out of her way to help me find the perfect gift. She even stayed a little later than she had planned (tax day!) to wait for me to arrive after work. They had a beautiful variety of Indonesian wooden jewelry and many different sizes as well. One of the many rings I purchased (they were all sooo cool, I couldn't decide!) had a slight defect, and the owner was more-than-happy to exchange the ring the next week. I gave this location 5 stars for great customer service, extraordinary pieces, and it's cute location in Little Italy on Fir where the annual Art Walk is held. DO NOT COME HERE, I came here with my husband and little sisters to shop for some cute dream catchers and we were all super excited to get something, mind you we would of gotten something if the lady in there wasn't so damn rude, I was recording a video of one of the dream catchers and instead of being told nicely not to record, I was yelled at by the person working, who the hell yells at their customers first off, second off you couldn't ask politely, do you lack that much common decency that you have to scream at people ? Double OMG! I took my sister who was in town from Santa Barbara to Felipe's in Little Italy last week and right around the corner we found a quaint little shop, Rosa Mariposa. It had the coolest Indonesian jewelry. Two years ago when my husband and I vacationed in Bali I had purchased jewelry similar but coulld never find any sold in San Diego that resembled it until I visited this shop. The owner Monica was super welcoming, answered any questions we had, and was not over-bearing. I hated being bothered while I'm shopping. As we were checking out the owner and I chatted about some of our experiences in Bali and she seemed to have a great appreciation for the culture. My sister and I could not believe that we had got such a BAM for our buck$. The prices were so reasonable. I know where I'll be doing my X-mas shopping this year. What a joke, the owner, Monica Covarrubias! Went in to look for a present for a girlfriend of mine. Having seen her merchandise at farmers markets, I took a card and thought I'd check out the store. Walked in, to find NO ONE in the store - 1 employee (who ended up being the owner Monica) No "hello", or "welcome, and thanks for being my only customer of the day", no nothing!. She was too busy yakking on the phone about paying her cable bill or something. So unprofessional. The products claim to be made in Indonesia, but one of the bracelets had a sticker that said "made in china". ha! I managed to find a headband, with frayed seams that were poorly sewed...eh, if it was made by a little chinese girl who's hoping to make money for her parents, fine, I'll take it...but I went to ask if she had any more in the back, and I'm sorry, INTERRUPTED her phone call. When she finally hung up, she tried to act cool, and stated that she didn't have any more headbands, but had some tank tops. The tank tops were made cheaply, and had a flimsy feel to them. Too expensive for the lack of quality - both of products and service. As I was walking out, another patron was walking by with a coffee and warned me that the owner is a crazy lady. You know, sometimes it is worthwhile to listen to other people's opinions...Not far from the truth! CURIOUS WHY THIS WAS PUT IN THE HIDDEN FILTERED FILE??? i have sat on this for a while but then walked by this place again this weekend and it reminded me of my last visit. so I decided to write in a review. I went into the store on a thursday, i believe it was the week of comicon, had a GREAT time in the store, there was a a girl working (not sure of her name...but tall and thin) she was very nice and enjoyable i had to leave but returned the next day.....WHAT A DIFFERENCE! i walked in and there was trash, and boxes everywhere! the same girl was there as well as the owner? or should i say slave driver?? I could not believe how she treated the two girls there!! she was demeaning and belittled them in front of customers....then she actually told a customer "Beep Beep" to get them out her way. i was appalled! I felt like i was intruding. and then i felt horrible for the employees, the one that helped me the day before and was so up beat and sweet was now looking like a Battered Wife, on the verge of tears. I have attempted to shop at this store 3 times so far. All 3 times the shop has been closed during their posted normal business hours. This time there is a sticky note on the door saying "be back in 20 minutes " with no start time. Ive been here 20 minutes! If the owner of this store is reading this, Stop wasting everyones' time! Either you are in business or not!!! You are only open from 11-6 anyway, how hard is it for an employee to sit there to keep your store open? They need to take down the sign that says "open everyday at 11". I used to love to shop at the store when I visited from Sacramento and picked up gifts for my students and co-workers. The last two times I made a special trip to this establishment, it was locked up tight with nobody inside, and it was WAY after 11:00 both times. One of my friends arrived at 1:00 to a closed store.
