He was very upfront and honest about his recommendation to discontinue the repair and let Ol' Bess finish out her days in peace. He got it to where the trackpad was temporarily functioning again (it was sticking due to the swelling battery) and even re-adhered the loose glass to my screen (a separate issue) I appreciate his candor as previously I'd been given the run around by the Apple Store. I was charged a very reasonable price considering Jon was able to get Ol' Bess working just enough for me to retrieve some documents off of her. I ended up ordering a new MacBook Pro and if anything is to go wrong with that one, I'll surely SKIP THE APPLE STORE and go straight to Friendly PC.

I took my laptop in for a broken hinge. They asked for my login credentials, and I didn't think…read moremuch of it at the time. I was originally quoted around $350, and the final price jumped to $500. Whatever -- I ended up fixing the hinge myself anyway. What bothered me was what I found afterward. They installed Secure Updater and Drive Adviser on my computer without my permission. Secure Updater immediately started generating fake "trial subscription expired" pop‑ups telling me to "click here to renew now." It behaved exactly like adware, and I had to spend time tracking down the source just to remove it. Nice guys or not, this should never be installed on a customer's computer without clear consent. Very disappointing experience.
