SCAMS! LIES! STRONGARMS! these are words that describe this store, which should really be called "Trashbuy" for their god-awful customer service and counterfeit wares.
First they tried to SCAM me. They tried to sell me an obviously counterfeit laptop battery which is 15 to 30 dollars online, for the low, low price of 70 plus tax. I'd originally asked for a laptop battery jumpstarter/charger when i originally came to their store so i didn't research batteries and decided to trust their "information" provided about the price; first mistake.
Then there were ISSUES when the BATTERY arrived at last:
1-the battery was a different sub-variant of my original battery, which they tried to sass me into accepting, but i know too well that if you force an unfit battery into a socket, that it'll gradually wear the socket down until the laptop cannot use batteries any more. The two batteries had clearly different HP product numbers (see snapshots)
2-their battery failed HP's Hardware Support Assistant software's diagnostic tests, and HP's software said it did not recognize the battery or what state was in, meaning i was unable to verify whether it was legitimate, working for more than their 1-week return period, or if it had been a used battery which had a shortened lifespan. Remember, i already paid at this point, 80 for a 15 dollar battery.
3-they constantly claimed that a proper battery from HP would cost a couple hundred dollars, and that "they will be the one to tell me the information" despite having zero transparency with regards to my purchase when I either tried to present information or ask them for it. They purposely obfuscate information from me about my product's lifespan.
Their CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAP in general. The guy said i was "testing his patience" and that my "concerns were irrelevant". Well smart guy, if my concerns were irrelevant then i wouldn't be driving 40 km here and talking to you about it now would i? I'm a tech savvy guy, a smart buyer, and i know a shady/scummy deal when i see one. And with regards to patience, I'm the customer; you don't get to talk about your patience while you're on the job.
They provided NO INFORMATION about my purchase until after it had arrived from shipping, and even then, refused to provide further technical information about my purchase, citing "trade secrets". When i asked that they exchange the inadequate battery for a legit HP one, or at least a counterfeit model with the proper HP product serial so that it could fit adequately without destroying my laptop, they refused and said a refund was the only way to go; they ABSOLUTELY REFUSED TO COMPROMISE even when I wasn't asking for a refund.
They did this ON PURPOSE because their REFUND FORCES YOU TO PAY (up to) 20% of the product including taxes, AND both shipping fees from their supplier to them, and then back for the refund. i'm now paying at least 20-30 dollars here and still waiting for them to verify my returned purchase and reimburse my credit card; i potentially got scammed 130 dollars total by them.
This...20% cut they took was for "repackaging purposes" despite me returning the battery on the same day that i got it from them. I had no information about said battery prior to receiving it and they refused to provide any information about the order or technical info about the battery itself after pick-up.
And, the best part is the packaging for the battery consisted of two plastic bags and a sticker. 20-30 dollars for them to properly "repackage" the battery by re-sticking the sticker... if that isn't ROBBERY then I don't know what is.
If you want to be SCAMMED, STRONGARMED, and LIED TO, then this is the place to go.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!
