After having my Google Pixel's battery swapped out with a new one, my phone ran fine. Three weeks later, I woke up one morning to find that my phone would not power on. It was dead. I took it back to the store. I thought that perhaps the new battery may have fried my phone. The person tried basic diagnostics. My phone was dead. He felt that the battery wouldn't have caused this issue. He asked that I leave it there for more tests. Sure enough, a couple of hours later, he declared my phone dead. He couldn't revive it and determined that the motherboard probably needed to be swapped out, which is expensive. He recommended that I contact Google support for next steps. The person that was helping me out refunded me for the complete cost of my phone's new battery. It was a nice gesture. He also wrote an e-mail for me to send to Google support, which indicated that my phone was in pristine condition and that the fault appears to be with the motherboard. Even though my phone went to cell phone heaven, it's nice that this store does everything it can to fix issues and will suggest next steps when it has done everything it can to fix them. (373)

They quickly noticed that the battery area was bulged up, confirming that it had been stored on the shelf in that position for a long time. Unfortunately my brand new Samsung phone that was out of the box for less than 12 hours was surprisingly already out of warranty since April 30 of this year. I can't even dispute this issue with this store since it's a Samsung issue, and this particular Samsung store refused to do anything related to repairs and warranties. This shop was going to charge it $130+tax for a battery swap, but I was able to find a repair shop in Markham that can do this for half the cost.

Beware of VERBAL ABUSE!!!…read more I am extremely disappointed by the treatment I received at Mobile Square and I feel other customers should be aware. I first visited the store last week during lunch time because my iPad was experiencing frequent crashing issues. During that visit, one of the technicians was already impatient when I asked questions and tried to get clarification about the problem. Despite the poor attitude, I left my iPad with them for diagnosis, hoping the technical expertise would make up for the customer service. When I picked it up, a different technician explained that the crashing issue had been temporarily resolved and that the underlying problem was a damaged power management IC. I was advised to use an original Apple charger moving forward. After returning home and following those instructions, I discovered that my iPad would not charge, even with an original Apple charger. Concerned that the issue had not actually been resolved, I returned to the store the following week. Unfortunately, that second visit was far worse. A third technician with glasses, who had not been involved in my previous visits, immediately came across as dismissive and unprofessional when I was trying to ask for clarity. While the previous technician was attempting to explain the situation to me, he repeatedly interrupted the conversation and treated me with open hostility. After I confronted with him of his rude behavior and attitudes, he then proceeded to call me a "B!TCH" and even said "F@CK YOU" directly to my face. I was stunned. I came in seeking help with a device and instead was subjected to verbal abuse from a staff member. No customer should ever be spoken to this way under any circumstances. This behavior and attitude were completely unacceptable. Technical issues can happen. Repairs may not always work. All I wanted was clarification to understand the issue better. What customers should be able to expect, however, is professionalism, respect, and basic courtesy. Based on my experience, this business failed on all three. I cannot recommend Mobile Square to anyone. If customer service matters to you, I would strongly consider taking your business elsewhere.

Late in October, I decided to pre-order a Google Pixel 4a 5G phone. I have been using a Google Pixel 2 XL for well over two years and have frankly been enamoured by all Pixel phones that I've had. I felt that it was time to go with a newer model. I did something different this time. I bought the phone outright from the Google Store. For years, I have subsidized my phone with my cell phone provider. For the last four years, I have been with Rogers. It's actually $30 cheaper buying the phone outright, which I can put towards getting a decent meal! I got my new phone on Friday. As usual, it's more difficult to get accessories for a phone that hasn't saturated the market to the same extent as an iPhone or Galaxy. I decided to check out this Rogers store while waiting for a takeout order from Plates and Bowls a few stores down. Maybe I need to lower my standards. If you can pre-order a Google Pixel 4a 5G off Rogers's Web site, wouldn't you think that there would be some accessories available at their stores? Nope, not at this one. I parked closer to Plates and Bowls, and walked over to Rogers. There was plenty of parking. The store is bright and inviting. I normally don't visit a Rogers store. I looked at the screen protectors and cases. I didn't see any for my phone model. However, I did get to see the Google display of phones. I approached the counter and spoke to a nice woman. She helped me with finding a case. She pulled out an Otterbox sparkly case. However, it was for the Google Pixel 4a. This phone has a screen size of 5.8". The 4a 5G model is 6.2". I let her know that it wasn't the right one. She checked her inventory. Nope, this store doesn't have any screen protectors or cases for my new phone. It was simply a reminder that your best bet for a new phone is to find your accessories online. I thanked her for her time and help, and left empty-handed. The good news is that I had already bought a screen protector earlier in the day from Best Buy, which was reduced in price. I found two cases online last night and expect them to arrive tomorrow. I liked the PopTops at the store. It's good to know that this place has a nice assortment. There were three staff members here at 5 pm. They all seemed to enjoy what they do, which was nice to see.
