Apple Store Greed? I'd like to share this incident with everyone just to be wary, and always get a second opinion. I went to the Apple Store as my iPhone 14 Pro Max started having lots of issues with glitching, freezing, dictation, and a few other issues. The people at the Apple Store told me that it's a logistics hardware problem and it would cost me $700 to fix as I did not have a protection plan. I was going to just buy the new 15 Apple Pro Max and give this phone to my child as a toy. I didn't end up purchasing one because they didn't have the colour I wanted in stock and I was going to wait a bit. When I got home, I remembered that I had my Apple laptop serviced at TRG Computer Solutions in Aurora. So I decided to give them a call to ask them how much they would charge to fix this issue. They told me to simply back up my phone and do a factory reset and that should solve the problem. Lo and behold that's exactly what I did, and my phone was restored to its former state with absolutely no issues!!! Extremely appalled at the service at upper Canada Mall Apple Store. read more

If you have a choice between pulling all your teeth out with dull pliers, or getting any kind of service at this Apple store, I highly suggest the former option. Every time I've come to this apple store, I've received horrible service and condescending employees. To be fair, the women here I've dealt with have been pretty helpful and friendly. The men however, are a complete nightmare. Our tech company (one of the largest consulting agencies in the world - yes this is important for later) have a employee purchase plan where we can get 5-10% off different apple items, but you can only buy it in store. We've taken advantage of this work perk before at numerous other locations, including Markville and Fairview. However, every time we try to bring this up to an employee here, we've had a horrible experience. The first time ever, they were confused but finally honoured it after they dug a bit for info. Yesterday, however...was the worst experience I've had here and confirmed why I will not return to this location and rather drive out to Markham.. we tried calling the store AND corporate, and they insisted we HAVE to come in to the location just to get the discount percentage and the price for an item. So we drove to this location as it is the closest one to us - and had to line up in a long queue ... just to get a price ... ok, sure. After waiting in the line, someone finally came up to us and when we explained the EPP and discount we had, this man laughed - YES, LAUGHED at us and said "hah, absolutely not." That took us aback and we explained the company and situation further until he finally decided to search it up saying he's never heard of the company, and then proceed to say "Oh. This company DOES have an EPP" ... did he think we were lying? After that, he told us that he can't get the price for us and we had to wait 1h for a 'specialist' ... just..to..get..a.. PRICE. We weren't even sure if we wanted it for sure, just wanted to see the pricing. All this, just to get a price? Can anyone see how ridiculous this is? We just ended up calling the store again directly just outside of the mall and we ended up reaching someone who told us the discount and the helpful employee on the phone told us that "some of the other employees... yeah, I don't know..." Really seems like some people are not trained, or just trying to gatekeep the discount even though we also have it via our company. This store has really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Bad service- not from everyone but from employee matthew. i bought a mac computer and traded in my old one and wanted help. end of story he was VERY rude and didn't help me set it up after, did not make me feel welcome. i'm not one whom often leaves bad reviews. read more

So we've all sipped the Apple Kool-aid at one point or another, whether it was for business or personal. Maybe it was for an iPod, iPad, iTouch or iPhone OR you wanted to take a bite of a big beautiful MAC(book). We all get the itch and nothing makes me want to scratch my Apple rash more than walking into the Apple Store. For those of you whom have never been I must ask - have you been living under a rock? Are you afraid that coming out from under said rock will encourage Newtons law of gravity to have said Apple strike you on the head from above. Of course I kid, but not to worry my inexperienced Apple friend - come away with me and I shall be your tour guide through the mist. Most will know that walking into any Apple store (especially the Newmarket location) is what I imagine an addict feels when partaking in their favorite vice - sheer exhilaration. The crowds, the buzz, the absolute joyous organized anarchy. Crowds of people swarm over the latest and greatest like Vultures on the serengeti, or swine at feeding time. It's almost National Geographic worthy. However, unlike the swine or vulture, Apple patrons aren't jostling for position or fighting over scraps - no no - they all appear to have this passive glaze over their eyes (almost in reverence) like members of a super elite techy cult. It's amazing to witness. One by one, blue shirted Apple Store employees gravitate to the lost or facially confused and bring them to a station for processing (think Willy Wonka's Oompah Loompahs - Except Steve Jobs is the master Choclatiere). Within moments the "oohs" and "ahhs" escape their lips and you can see the "I WANNA I WANNA" five year old in their eyes. My recent trip in for a MAC approved printer was no too different from the general experience, Dave helped me out with my fancy new EPSON Workforce 545 (great printer by the way). He told was friendly, knowledgeable and gave me his undivided attention. Coolest thing, we were talking about the printer at a station and then moments later another blue shirted Apple-LOOMPAH brought it out to where we were standing - like POOF! MAGIC! How'd he know to bring it out to me? I'll never know... guess i need to add that to my list of unsolved mysteries (like the caramilk secret, and how much wood a wood chuck could chuck....) I am quite surprised with Apple care! Recently I had recieved a faulty giftcard. They fixed my issue quickly and always call back if your phone disconnects. I also ended up receiving an extra $50 They were very friendly, and helpful any questions you may have are answered. Although try not to do the voice automated selections and just go straight to a phone operator as they can transfer you and help you more then the catergorized automated options! Hopefully you will not have to go through a long process to enjoy your music, apps, movies, books, shows etc on apple like i did but if you do always call their phone operators! or online support too they'll email you back quick and solve your problem! read more

Apple has great customer service, this is a known fact in many areas around the world and the Newmarket location is no exception. The times I've had genius appointments, they were punctual, courteous and more than anything else, organized. The only negative thing is during busy times its impossible to find a rep to help you with anything especially checking out. Other than that there isn't much unique to say about this location. read more

This is the closest apple store to where I live. They are always great with customer service and their knowledge of the products available. All the staff are always very friendly and easy going. The only thing I can say as a negative is that the store can be extremely busy, especially on the weekends. However that is in no way to fault of the store, or of apple. Just the facts of life for a great company and a great store. read more

Possibly the worst experience ever. Within five minutes I left the store because the employee flat out said I "can't read". People come to the store to inquire about the products/new features and updates and the employees are there to assist in this process... For someone who claims to have 11 years of retail experience it is absolutely ridiculous for him to have such a terrible attitude. Really disappointed with Newmarket's employee. read more

I know Apple is known for their great service but every time I go into an Apple store, I feel uncomfortable because they're always crowded and all the staff seems to be running around and extremely busy. I was at the store last week looking for an iPad Air but it was so chaotic and hard to find help that I just left and got it somewhere else. It might be nicer to actually have someone near the front greet customers and point them to where they need to go. read more

He took care of me and my issue in a very professional way and listened to what I had to say sine day before I had nightmare experience with Apple Store at Markville mall. He is good example of customer service and customer needs. If you have an issue please visit this particular store since staff is more polite and educated. I have used this store since it opened. I have used them for purchasing new products and performing repairs. Last year I had an issue with track pad. Cost about $100 to fix. About two months later, I had another issue. I brought it back. The guys said it was the logic board and would cost about $700 normally, but he would comp me on it. This laptop was 2 years out of warranty and got some good use over the time. I think because the repair was close to the time on the other repair - either way - terrific. Update - I have an intermittent graphics issue - the one that shows up infrequently and never when you want to show someone. I was able to get a screen shot of the issue... long story short, they put it through some heavy tests, as it did nto show up on diags initially. Found issue and replace. Also used their one to one training for Final Cut Pro. Also very happy with this service as well. Been able to learn many advanced aspects of the application. Well recommended. I am very happy with the new feature of being able to have product delivered to apple store that I purchase online. No more missed packages! read more

I brought my heavy desktop to the Genius Bar appointment at the apple store in Newmarket January 1, 2018.after a system crash. The support team successfully downloaded my content onto a G drive I purchased there. I had been running El Capitan so asked them to install Sierra which I thought was the name of the latest OS. (I am a senior citizen). In trying to complete the reset of my desktop at home with apple chat support I discover the Genius Bar should have loaded High Sierra. Now I am waiting 3 hours at home for it to load before I can get back to setting up my computer. The Genius Bar at the Newmarket store should have suggested I get the latest OS version to help me avoid this problem. I have always been happy with apple support but am very disappointed with this experience. read more

TO THE STAFF AT UPPER CANADA MALL- APPLE STORE Nick and his buddy staff: My husband and I waited for two hours waiting to be looked after on Monday. Low and behold, Nick, who was very reluctant to say, he had no idea how to help our situation with our cell. He brought another boy who had no idea, how to solve the problem with our cell as well. If only, this staff admitted when they had no idea, and couldn't solve the problem, it could of saved my husband and I time. We became very frustrated and we left. I called a toll free number, and spoke with two women in the Apple New Your office, they were brilliant! They knew actually what the issue was, unlike the (Canada LOCATION)Upper Canada Mall,NEWMARKET, ONTARIO Apple store staff of immature, uneducated and illiterate personal. The New York Apple Technicians even explained the problem in quite details, walked me through the process, and fixed my cell over the phone. The two women were very knowledgeable, and explained the staff in Canada should of been able to assist. However, The staff at Newmarket Upper Canada-Apple Store were more interested in dancing among themselves chatting about nonsense, irrelevant of helping people in need. There were many issues with the products and staff were not responsible and taking the time to assist their clients. One particular staff, non-judging)--He was dancing and shaking his silver and white streak hair, while his buddy next to him were throwing paper back and forth. They were hutched in a group together laughing and completely ignoring the needs of people who had come in. Also Nick brought in a expert which could not even answer questions regarding my cell properly, he was more interested and talking about his 10 month year baby at home. This is what we watched and more in the two hour wait. We feel this store needs training about interpersonal skills, trouble-shooting skills and knowledge of their products. I did not lose data from my cell as the boy staff explained to us; they were inexperience. The boys (staff) told us the cell would have to be erased and the cell had a misfunction. They were horribly wrong. They were about to waste a good cell phone. This is awful and the staff needs to be accountable for their errors. Now, the Apple Store in New York has sent a package via email to me, and a package via mail, so i may pass it down to your store. In case someone comes in with they same problem, you will be able to rectify the problem. I have purchased a watch from this store as well and again, my husband and I had to watch shenanigans going on, we were going to leave at that point, but we would of had to go into a more thorough place at Yorkdale which was quite further. We will from now on, travel the distance. We will not come to an inexperience store, who has no idea of what they are doing. We weren't the only people annoyed with the staff, there were others. Please have someone from the United States come in and train your staff including teaching mannerisms to the boy manager and his crew. read more

Horrible Customer Service. My Ipod died after 6 months. I came to fix it and they didn't want to serve me unless I make an appointment which is the closes in 4 days. They sell crappy overprice junk and they don't want to fix it. I have to make another trip just so they can look at it. read more

I went there and nothing was wrong with my iPhone but they told me i need a new phone. all they had to do to see that nothing is wrong with my iPhone was to turn it off and on only once to see that everything was fine but because my phone is couple of years old they told me i need a new phone and that my original iPhone is not repairable. BE AWARE OF SHARK SALES MEN & REPAIR CREW as they want to just say your phone is GARBAGE just so that they can sell you a new phone or their current model phone. GOOD LUCK if you phone is out of warranty. They are SHARKS waiting to sell you a new phone. If you phone has any problems DO NOT go to Apple unless you are under warranty. Instead go to any repair shop that deals with phone (iphone) repairs. They are MUCH better. read more
