Full featured tech shop on Spadina. I went to get a screen protector replacement for an iPhone 11 Pro. They offer the usual partial cover for $10 and the full coverage one for $15 which is standard in Chinatown. The previous screen protector installed by another Chinatown place on Dundas ended up falling off so I'm hoping this one stays on for a while. Even buying two of these is cheaper than going to BB or Apple Store. Service is quick and efficient giving me just enough time to look around at all the plastic tech junk on offer. What jumped out at me was the keychain fobs for Apple Airtag which I wanted. One alone is $20 at Jump Plus and here they are $5.99 so worthwhile to grab a couple for these new tech gadgets. I put one on my bicycle in case it gets nabbed and dumped down the street I can go run after it. Also useful if you are in a strange neighborhood, or city. This is the place to go if you are looking for a low buck fix on an older phone, just make sure you are clear with exactly what product is being installed on your phone. First of all the location, clientele and service people are sketchy. My last visit there was a salesman searching gay porn, a client clearly searching for drugs, and the shop owner who ran across the store and began screaming on the street in a foreign language as soon as I entered. I've had my phone screen repaired here twice. Is is an iPhone 10 and the front screen repair cost $60 each time. The first time was successful until after a number of calls, the phone screen cracked. The second time was a complete waste of time and money. I returned to the store three times. The first time, within ten minutes because the touch screen was not working in places. The second time, within two hours because the sound had been disconnected. This time he sqid he may replace the entire screen but I declined because of time constraints. I returned two days later because the screen quality was far below that of the first repair and I was already noticing hairline cracks. Beware, at the moment this looks like a very shady operation and a place you want to avoid run by employees that will be more than keen to take you for a ride. The pattern I have noticed with this place based on my experience and the experience of other reviewers further below is as follows: - the technician at the back never provides a proper printed cash register receipt for any of their repairs, only gives you a nameless business card with the sum, type of repair, and date handwritten on it; anyone could write whatever they wanted on the back of a business card, this is no valid receipt of your payment for their service - the sales clerk in front and the technician at the back will always insist they are separate businesses not connected to each other in any way; they'll insist they only share the shop premises an only happen to know each other because of that; they are the same business though and this is only a tactic they use to cover up for each other - another tactic they use is the 'good cop - bad cop', the person in front always plays a nice card to confuse you and to cover up for anything that might look/ feel suspicious - the cost of repairs and services is always kept low just enough for you to be unable to take it to the small claims court when/if they take you for a ride or scam you, pay attention to this if you have ever used their services, you will see the pattern - they will never provide a printed copy of their return policy on a paper with the business letter head, address, and name of the manager or person you dealt with (try to see for yourself and ask for it...) - if you ask for a copy of their return policy, they will point out a notice to you stuck to the front desk display cabinet - a notice that can be removed, reattached, or altered whenever they wish and as they wish; they will ask you to take a picture of it. It has no name of the business of it though and no address of the business; if you take a picture of it, it will look like a picture of any random notice you could take in any random shop anywhere in the world - to just myself they gave two different time periods for accepting returns: initially he said I have 7 days (this would be illegal, mind you) on my last visit he was much more careful and said I have 2 weeks (this is the legal minimum - pls, note most stores in CA and US will provide much longer period for returns and refunds - they will always try to force store credit over a cash refund, do not be pressured into accepting store credit if that's not what you are happy to accept - their products have no price tags, different sales people will tell you the same product costs different amounts of money based on how much they think they can get; the same goes for their repairs - they have no set price list - their business cards never have the name of any technician, sales clerk or person in charge on them - the instruction booklets and user manuals are missing from the packaging of any knock off or low-quality products that could be faulty - warranty policies are also missing from the packaging of their products - after they've received a review online that's not favourable, they will offer free items such as bracelets to a customer or two in exchange for their 5 star reviews - their negative reviews never appear in the chronological order, the top reviews will always be the cheap, bought 5 stars ones; always scroll down to see the rest of the reviews for the l - they pay close attention to who you are, how many times you have visited, how soon you revisited etc - too close attention perhaps. They will want to remember everything about you and the situation so they can use it to fool you and make you feel like it is you who is in the wrong and they are in the right - he will even remember your voice; when I called on the phone to ask whether they are open that day (the previous day they happened to be closed due to a snow fall) he must have recognised me because he lied to me about their opening times to delay my visit as much as possible and buy himself time (it was 6 pm when I called, he told me they: "close 6:30 today, but usually 7:00"; they are actually open till 9pm every day though, and their website clearly says 9 pm daily as well if you have a look. EDIT: The website closing hours have just changed to 8 pm. : ) They have probably read my new review! Looks like they always change everything as they go along to mess with you and fool/confuse any other readers - familiar to us now behaviour. On January 12/2021 I made the mistake of purchasing a pair of earphones from Tech Zone on Spadina Ave. After a month they suddenly stopped working. They cost $22.60 with tax . Built in obsolescence is reaching ludicrous extremes as is the retail environment where it plays itself out with employees who try to scam customers into believing that a 2 week warranty is acceptable. I had a very bad experience, they basically ruined my phone and lied to me. Less expensive than other places but what is the point?

Went in to get my shattered iPhone 6 screen replaced after researching different repair places in Toronto. It took them about 20 minutes, and only cost $60! It was cash only, but the service was amazing and well-done. I also bought a tempered glass screen cover for $15 (they have ones that cover less of the screen for $10), which was installed promptly and properly in front of me while I waited. Thank you! UPDATE: So as it turns out, the glue wasn't as strong as I originally thought and the phone screen ended up popping up slightly after about six months, as if the battery was swelling and the screen couldn't hold it back (the Genius Bar told me it wasn't a case of the battery swelling - just subpar glue). It could have been worthwhile to bring it back and get it fixed again, but I just opted to go back to the Apple store so I wouldn't have to face another popped up screen. read more

I had bought a mobile cover etc there about 2 years ago, no problem last night I went in the girl behind the counter was talking away in one of the Chinese languages I did not understand, the server kept up the conversation, obviously I was a customer wanting service, after a few minutes I asked her if I could speak to her, "what did I want, I said cover for my phone, what kind of phone in an impatient manner, I had just bought the mobile and was not sure so took it out put it on the counter, I also wanted a case she said "you go over there" pointing towards the left wall, the other girl got into the conversation obviously annoyed that I had interrupted their conversation, found a case, walked back to the service counter and waited again since they had returned to their personal conversation I finally say "excuse me" do I get service here, she reluctantly looked at the phone got out a cover put it on meanwhile they are still talking away to each other !!!! got my bill for $28.25 no problem, however when I got home I realized the cover does not fit completely on my phone wrong type??, a bit frustrating, hence my comments. Beware, they scammed me! I had a terrible experience and I ended up reporting them for fraud. They installed a knockoff fake screen, instead of a real one, on my Samsung phone after it shattered. The colour was off, tinted slightly green and very dim, the brightness adjustment didn't even work. On top of that my home button was loose and would get stuck underneath the screen. I had to argue with him for at least 20 minutes until he finally agreed to re-adjust the button and install a new screen that did work.. Unfortunately he didn't have more screens so he told me to return the following day for a working screen. I did just that but the new screen also didn't work and I asked him if it was a real samsung screen and he assured me it was. I then decided to get a second opinion from a nearby spot by Dundas and University, called "Ming Wireless". They were able to show me that he installed a fake and faulty screen, as they compared it to the real screens they had. I had them installed the correct screen for me for only $20 more than Tech zone charged and my phone worked perfectly and the colour and brightness was spot on. I went back to Tech zone and the technician admitted it wasn't a real Samsung screen and that he also puts fake screens on laptops and it's no big deal. This is not okay, it's fraud!! Especially after he previously told me that the screens he installed were real. The red flag was that they only take cash and don't give you receipts, unless you ask and he'll write the amount you paid on his business card. I should have known then that it was too sketchy to trust... avoid going here unless you want to pay $125 for a phone "repair" that you will still have to get done somewhere else afterwards. Also when I was waiting for my phone repair the second time, there were 3 others there complaining that their phones stopped working after his repairs. read more

I went in directly without shopping around after reading the good reviews. this place doesn't have a price list to begin with. I was suspicious but still paid 90 bucks to get him to change my iphone 6s plus screen. the screen flickers when I make calls after the fix so I went bck to fix it 2nd time. it only got worse! my phone freezes at times I cant even swipe to turn it off. it also clicks on icons randomly and I have to shut it down to make it back to normal. dont come to this place. Horrible phone repair, horrible service. At least it was cheap. Many people were inside complaining when I went to go pick up my phone, I had a bad feeling but paid and left because he had finished repairing it by then. No one acknowledged the people in there to ask why their phones weren't working. They just got stared at until they left. The screen worked for 10 minutes before it went haywire. Opening apps I hadn't touched, keyboard not responding or hyper responding. Now, two days later, it won't turn on at all. Nothing will help it. So, instead of paying full price for a new screen, I have to buy a new phone. BEWARE!! I took my iphone 8 plus to get a screen repair as there was a small crack on the screen, i paid $110 so i could get an original glass. After picking up my phone from the shop i noticed that the screen was glitching and the touch screen wouldn't work sometimes, youd have to tap a bunch of times to get it to work. I gave the phone back to the guy and he said he'd get it fixed. I come back the next day and he gives me the phone with a completely blacked out corner on the screen and says i gave him the phone like that. What. The. Fuck. After telling him NO i did not give him the phone like that, he agrees and says he'll get it fixed. We both knew i did not give him the phone with a blacked out screen. I come again the next day, the screen is still black than he than claims, "oh there's water damage you did this i didn't do this". I was wary of this place just because it seemed like the things they sold could be bad quality, and I wasn't sure of the quality of the repair. But, it proved me wrong and I will go back if I ever need to fix my phone again. I got my iPhone 6 battery replaced quickly in 30 mins, for $40. It's been a few months and my battery is as good as new. I also bought an iRing-like thing for my phone, which works really well too. Finally, i got a USB plug in, which although had slightly sketchy Apple inspired packaging, works fine. Would recommend this store for phone accessories and repair! read more
