I took my Apple Air4 iPad (with a broken screen) to the Buy N Cell guys, I mentioned that my Apple Care Warranty had run out on December 3rd. Rather than hitting me with a high priced repair quote, they insisted on rechecking the Warranty. To my surprise, my iPad was still covered. Forty eight hours later, they call and told me that my brand new iPad was ready for pickup. All that they charged me was a very reasonable service/handling fee. Not many shops go the extra distance for you like this, these days. Bottom line. I've known about this place forever since their ads are all over Kijiji. I've been there once to buy an S4 battery and that was fine - good customer service and eco-friendly as the receipt was sent to my email. Recently, however, my experience was just below par. I took my second generation Moto X to them because I thought there was a software issue since I couldn't get a cellphone reception, and my sim card wasn't being read. (I flashed a new firmware on my phone and messed with the modem software) I dropped my phone off on Tuesday and had an online profile with status updates sent to my email. "Cool" I thought, "I'll be able to monitor the status." Then come Wednesday, no updates on my profile. I contact their Mississauga location as they informed me the tech there is more savvy and could probably repair it. That rep informed me that everything was good and that they're still doing more testing; that i'll be contacted in an hour. A few hours later the North York technician called me saying that the phone is fine, and that he sees no issues. I had to inform him of the error and he said he'll investigate more. Thursday passes and now it's Friday. My online profile is still not updated. So I call and the technician informs me that there's nothing he could do and that the phone is probably blacklisted. I venture to the store, befuddled, because in all honesty I know that the phone isn't blacklisted. Upon meeting the technician, I articulated the process I underwent to get to that point (flashed firmwares, missing modem). He replied that the phone is still probably blacklisted. I take the phone home, do some hardcore Googling, XDA-ing, and Kijiji-ing, and it looks like all I needed to do was download and fastboot the carrier's modem, which I did - phone is now picking up reception and making phone calls. tl;dr Buy N Cell is good for basic stuff. They have good ideas in terms of systems but are poorly deployed. For more advanced phone repairs, you're better off doing it yourself or finding someone on Kijiji that will take the time and actually care about the issue. read more

I've been using BuynCell on Sheppard for over three years buying Mac Airs, iPhones, iPads, Samsung phones, phone accessories and I often visit when I want cool corporate or personal gifts. I've found the pricing to be best in town and the service to be stellar. I've had 2 phones repaired and they too were great. I now send all my friends here. It's a great place to find neat toys too - picked up a drone with video camera for my son, a digital watch thy synchs with her phone, and some remote cars for friends. Highly recommend them!! I have been debating whether to post this, as I thought I could deal with the Manager. But it seems, when she last wrote me, "she had forgotten" about me. Well this is what happened. In June 2014, I was told I was buying a brand new iphone 5s, but when I went to register** prod within 30 days as the seller told me,** it to purchase apple care, Apple told me this was not a new phone and had a manufacturers warranty until Dec 2014.(was a product replacement sold to Buy N Cell) I was seriously lied to and have been dealing with Apple and they will not help and the Manager of this location, Alice wood says as soon as she gets a "brand new" phone she will call me. Folks, its been since JUNE 2014. BTW, I only saved 50$ with buying this product as opposed to buying directly from APPLE. I am a single mother trying to get a good gift for my daughters 18th and I was a victim of consumer fraud. II have since gone back to the store when I was told I "just missed her" I even asked the staff if they have had any brand new phones in lately, I was told, "yeah all the time". I had to explain the proper definition of brand new to them! So if you buy anything from this company and they say you have a warranty with this manufacturer..CALL THE MANUFACTUERS FIRST TO VERIFY THE SERIAL NUMBER BEFORE YOU BUY. Be careful!!! They repaired my cracked iphone screen with a warranty. However, it became loose and screen turned black within 2,5 months with out any fall accident. When I returned to the store to fix it, they even did not open the phone to check and simply rejected to repair claiming a physical damage. It was in the warranty limits, but they did not even look inside and offered to replace with a new screen for 99$+HST. New smart phones start from 0$. Is it fare? read more

Amazing Service. Sanya is kind and professional. Fixed my Macbook Pro (it was slow and old) and is now working perfectly (added 2gb of memory in an extra memory slot), actually I am using it now to write this review!! Went to 6 shops downtown Toronto (Bay street corridor) and they either quoted me ridiculous prices or said there was nothing they could do about it. Guy convinced me i needed a new lcd screen when i didn't and then refused a refund the next day when it didn't fix the problem even after promising a 30 day warranty in store. This place doesn't do ethical business. Now I'm out 50 bucks and Apple probably wont let me swap my phone in with them because it has a non apple lcd screen - and buddy at Buy N Cell wont give me my original lcd screen back because he "Threw it in the garbage". I had an fantastic experience with these guys. I was looking for a very specific hardware part for my MacBook Pro and had no luck anywhere except at Buy n Cell. Arkan, the store manager was extremely helpful. I was originally just looking for the part, though they didn't have it, Arkan offered alternative solutions and also helped me repair the laptop until it came back to live. My issue with the laptop was quite bizarre and hideous but Arkan dealt with it patiently and professionally. After my computer was fixed, he also helped me replace the battery and the rubber feet that at a very reasonable price. This was a pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting to get those fixed but now my laptop is issue-free thanks to these guys. I ended up paying for the price of the parts which were incredibly reasonable for the amount of time we took to fix the problem. Looking back my suggestion for newcomers would be to make sure to call the store beforehand if you're looking for a rare part. The other thing was that during the fix I was offered alternative solutions that could have worked, but in the end the fix I received was what I original suggested. The extra time taken might have not been necessary but regardless Arkan gave me his 100% in making sure my device was fully working at the end, which I'm extremely thankful for. Won't be back - replaced an iPad screen, no tax, and got no receipt - Poor quality work as well. A week later the glass was peeling up. Brought it back and was charged again because I didn't have a receipt. Complained to the manager, told him I wasn't given a receipt. Told me "sorry, theres no proof you were ever here to fix this!" - Paid and left. Emailed my cell phone records showing they called me when it was fixed to come pick it up. No response. Horrible customer service and work. Find somewhere legit, avoid this shady crap. read more

I left my laptop with them for an LCD replacement. They placed the LCD off-centre, didn't stick the bezel back on properly (it keeps coming off now, the two-sided tape is either two weak or there isn't enough of it), and the install left white splotches on the screen in areas far from the damage site that originally led to the repair. When I spoke to them about it, the guy kept insisting that it was fine - that this is just how it is. I took it to Future Shop afterward and they said it was just a mediocre job. I will never go here again, and suggest you stay away from them for laptop repair. read more

OK, my initial experience with Buy N Cell was not what I had hoped it would be. To make a long story short, I brought my iPad in to have a broken screen replaced, but didn't end up getting it fixed that day because I was told it was going to cost more than what I was originally quoted and I was not happy with the level of customer service I received that day. I made my feelings known, and within hours, Al the Sales Manager contacted me to resolve the the issue at hand. I understand that EVERY company deals with problems from time to time which could ultimately end up with an unhappy customer, but to me, the mark of a great company is not whether or not problems arise, but rather how such complaints get handled when they do occur. I can honestly say that Al really wanted to rectify the problem and renew my confidence in Buy N Cell. Well, I must say that he has certainly done that! He immediately offered to repair my iPad for free! Not only that, but he also asked me what Buy N Cell could've done to avoid the problem altogether. I gave him my recommendations and he actually implemented them on the spot and held a meeting with his customer service reps the following day to discuss my particular experience and to ensure it never happens again. I told him that it wasn't necessary to repair my iPad for free, as I only wanted it done for the price initially agreed upon, but he insisted that it was his obligation to do it for free and that he owed it to me as a way of thanking him for giving Buy N Cell another chance! How often has the public face of a company ever done that?!? At the end of the day, I can only praise Al for how he turned a negative into a positive and an opportunity. He definitely converted me into a happy customer and I will absolutely be using Buy N Cell in the future and won't hesitate to recommend them to anybody and everybody.
