I am disappointed in the payment/insurance billing process. I was told today that the annual vision…read moreexam would not be charged to my vision insurance plan because it was a "medical" exam - not a vision exam. The purpose of the exam was an annual check-up. I wear contacts. The first contact trial made my vision worse. The second testing was on target. I thought I had paid the bill in full last week but today was told of another $94.00 charge. The front office handled things poorly, when I asked questions. The explanation given was that I was older, and this was the way it was done for older patients. I am 72. I don't have glaucoma. I don't have cataracts. I do have some neurological problems. I declined to speak with Dr. Jacobs at the time because I felt the need to remove myself from the situation. I respect his expertise. However, I will not be returning to this practice because of the billing methods. My husband recently had a good experience. He had his annual vision exam and purchased glasses a for a quarter of my cost using the same vision insurance. His visit was not labeled "medical". He is seven years older than I am. Live and learn.

Despite my stress and frustration over the incident, I'm certainly willing to be reasonable if the…read moreowner or manager reaches out in that same spirit. I didn't mean to imply that the office could only make it right with a partial refund. What I would really like is for them to acknowledge it was their associate who made the mistake and apologize for trying to convince me it was my fault, I should have known, etc. I want to have a good relationship with this office. When I mentioned a partial refund, it was just the first thing that came to me when the manager asked about making it right (and, as my review shows, the manager just. became more angry about it.) Really I was mostly upset that I was treated by the cashier and manager, who both told me it was my own mistake. At the time I was offered a very insincere apology. I hope will all heads cooler now, they will be willing to extend a sincere one and we can rebuild that relationship. I am not asking for any money, just a sincere apology. If the owner or manager want to offer that or discuss this, I hope they reach out to me.

She is an excellent doctor with a terrific personality! I've never had to wait longer than 30 minutes in her waiting room and she actually will come out and get you herself! I really like that about her! I don't mind waiting on her, because a good doctor is worth waiting on! She listens to what I have to say while we are in the examination room. Overall, Dr. Zhang is an excellent, friendly, easy to talk to physician. I would recommend her to anyone.

After over 20 years as a patient at Appalachian Eye Care and trusting them with my entire family of…read more12, this experience was unacceptable. My contact lens order was missed and I waited 6 weeks with no communication. When I finally called, I was told they had dropped the ball, yet there was still no follow up. Calling again over 2 weeks later, while wearing contacts that were no longer usable, I was met with rude, dismissive, and argumentative behavior. Instead of resolving the issue, I was repeatedly told the lenses were on backorder, contradicting what I had already been told. It then became unnecessarily difficult to obtain my own prescription. When I finally received it, the numbers were significantly different from my previous exam less than a year before, raising serious concerns about its accuracy and leaving me unable to confidently order expensive custom lenses. It has now been over two months and I still have no contacts and no trusted prescription. After two decades of loyalty and even purchasing a separate coverage through VSP Vision Care just to remain with this practice, because we love Dr. Lane, The lack of accountability, poor communication, and unprofessional treatment is unacceptable. Losing 12 long term patients may not matter, but experiences like this will matter over time. It is imperative to have good staff so your business doesn't suffer.

The doctor told me to try a sample and if I didn't like them I could try another kind before I ordered a 6 month supply of contacts. I soon realized i was leaving for vacation and didn't have enough contacts. I messaged the office and asked if I could have a sample pack to get me through vacation and hopefully my eyes liked this kind and I could order them. They said no i could not get a sample unless I agreed to pay for a year supply of contacts. All they care about is the money. They could care less that I was keeping headaches from the contacts or that my eyes would drain with pus from the solution. The office manager needs to look at what the front office people are telling patients. I asked for my prescription and it took forever to get it because they didn't want me going somewhere else. I've been a patient for over 15 years and so has my kids. We are not going back.
