The food always seems fresh here and of a higher quality than other Asian places locally. My mom loves their orange chicken with real slices of orange peel for flavor. I appreciate that they have gluten free noodle options and I think their crab Rangoon is the best I've had! Location is sort of out of the way on the side of a large shopping center. I went into Teariffic today excited to get a bubble tea smoothie and was disrespected for absolutely no reason by the cashier. I tried to buy bottled sodas to reach the $10 credit card minimum (the smoothie was $7, so I figured it was no big deal) , and was told by the cashier that they "will not be doing that for me" and then she walked away and completely ignored me. I'm always extremely nice to people in the service industry because I work in it myself! It was totally uncalled for. Why does it matter what adds up to the $10 minimum? Chinese is in short supply in Southern Maryland. This place is in a weirdly hidden location within the shopping center, kind of behind Thai Inter. I tried it hoping that it would have something a bit more interesting than standard American Chinese. On the drink side, I liked their options. The matcha milk tea had a pretty serious green flavor. They say it's non-dairy milk, but they don't say which one (Soy? Coconut? Almond?) and I couldn't tell, but it worked. The food was not overly exciting. Ordering vegetarian meant getting tofu with a choice of sauce. The hot and spicy sauce I asked for was available in two versions which they explained to me as being either just tofu or tofu with mixed vegetables. I was glad I got the vegetables; the cabbage and peppers and onions mixed things up nicely. It was very crispy deep fried tofu, but the sauce was pretty basic; sweet, savory, and just a hint of heat. It was fine but it certainly wasn't memorable. The dumplings were a bit better; I always like green-colored veggie dumplings, and these were green inside as well as outside. The place offers a table of plastic utensils and self-serve water after one orders at the counter. It's pretty basic. The price was appropriate, and it may very well be the best Chinese for a long way around given that my old standby has closed, but I wasn't so much impressed as satisfied. read more

I ordered carryout today after not eating here for quite a few years. I've eaten here before and enjoyed it, but my husband is not a big fan of Chinese food so we don't get it often. We ordered the crab Rangoon, shrimp dumplings, kimchi, general Tso's shrimp, flounder and I ordered a matcha milk tea. The fried crab Rangoon's were very good. We didn't love the dumplings. I thought they tasted a bit fishy. They were also very small, and the portion was very small as well. There was something about the kimchi flavor I didn't care for, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. The general Tso's shrimp was very good and a large potion. The shrimp were large and had just the right amount of batter. My husband really enjoyed the flounder and the portion was also very large. The milk tea was delicious. It had just the right amount of sweetness. No issues with service, the food was ready when they said it would be. I'm not sure if this is permanent but when I called they said they could only take cash. There was a lot of activity in the parking lot due to the new fast food restaurant that opened next door. Don't go unless you have $$$CASH, they always say their credit card machine is down. Teriyaki Chicken on a stick had been extremely overcooked last 3 times I ordered. I asked them to be cautious with my order this time and they refused to serve me at all. The lady yelled at me and refused to serve me at all. They accused me of returning food several times. I am not one to complain unless I feel like the food is completely inedible. Only twice have I asked for a remake. Once they remade the food the other she refused and refunded the one item. I used to live in SMC but moved to Northern VA almost 3 years ago now...... this place used to be my favorite for years and I was excited to have this again. I was in town visiting family and decided to stop here for lunch with a friend of mine. 1. I ordered curried tofu with veggies (WHICH THE CASHIER TOLD ME CAME WITH RICE AND BROCCOLI) Awesome, I'm vegetarian so that was perfect for me. Then I specifically ordered a Taro smoothie WITHOUT bubbles because I do not like them. Very simple order right? 2. My friend order a taro smoothie with no bubbles as well and pineapple fried rice. Immediately after ordering and paying I grabbed my recipet and out of no where I'm assuming the owner (the Asian lady who has been working there since as far back as I can remember) came and literally reached across the counter and SNATCHED the recipet out of my hand saying something like "NOOOO THIS IS THE KITCHEN'S"........... wtf? I literally was SHOCKED she did that especially in front of all of the other people who were waiting in line it was extremely busy in there I'm guessing because it was lunch time..... that's fine I let it slide but I was extremely offended!!!!! After waiting about 15 minutes she FINALLY brought us our smoothies.............. one of them has bubbles in it.......... I told her that I didn't ask for bubbles and she immediately caught an attitude. I told her it needed to be remade without bubbles and she literally shook her head and grabbed from the back the previous receipt she snatched from me showing that it asked for bubbles. I then got extremely frustrated and told her "Didn't I just say I didn't ask for bubbles? I know what I ordered" She then snatched my smoothie again with an attitude and I could literally here her talking crap about me in another language which I couldn't understand but I could deff hear her the words "taro" and "bubbles" come out of her mouth so I know she was talking about me. You're that salty over a damn smoothie?!?! Word of advice to the owner of this place how about you check your staff for incorrectly taking an order before you get pissed AT A PAYING CLIENT FOR HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THEIR ORDER BEING INCORRECT!!!!! Finally after waiting literally 20 minutes our food came and we left. This is really what pissed me off. I get my "tofu with veggies and rice" and guess what?!?! NO BROCCOLI OR RICE! I love Teariffic! Its a quaint little restaurant tucked in a corner of San Souchi.. The ambiance is casual, quiet, private. The lights are dim, the place is clean and their food is delicious. Their service is quick. I love to meet friends here for a bite to eat or for one of their fabulous bubble teas. The boba (tapioca)) pearls are large, and give your mouth a delightful texture and a slight pop when you bite down on one! My daughters and I went in for Boba Tea.. I had never had one, my older daughter has had many from different places. Both of ours tasted weird, she said it really bad, and mine was also. After we tried to drink them our stomachs actually were kind of sick and we felt off the rest of the night. We actually brushed our teeth to get the taste out. This time I had the Chicken Mei Fun (not spicy) and a Honeydew Smoothie! It's still too loud to go in the actual cafe, but my dad seems to find the employees nice. The food was really good consistantly this time. I do partially miss the peanut butter ("sesame") noodles, but those really are just a desert honestly. I ended out by the barbecue joint doing the creeper crawl across the strip mall a few times before I realized the restaurant was across the street by the Famous Footware store. The setup here is a bit weird. It looks like a full-service restaurant but it is actually an order-and-pay-then-sit-down restaurant. I ordered the General Tso chicken combo with hot and Sour soup. It came out surprisingly quick and looked delicious. After my first few bites, I was done. The "sauce" on the entree was more like a jelly which made it hard to enjoy. If you're looking for a clean, made to order Chinese restaurant, this is the place for you! I eat here at least once a week if not more. I've been through the entire dim sum menu and have settled on Veggie Dumplings and Sesame Won Tons (steamed, not fried) as my favs. The occasional Black Milk Tea with Bubble too. The entire menu (dim sum and entrees) is cooked to order so sometimes if it's crowded it takes a little while for your food to be served, be patient, it's well worth the wait. The place is decorated with an earthy feel and is the cleanest restaurant in SOMD! They have a picture book at the counter of the dim sum menu.
