I tried this place for the first time and placed an order through yelp for sushi and chicken katsu to go. When I arrived, the staff greeted me and handed me my food. I ordered the salmon avocado roll and spicy tuna roll. Both rolls were pretty warm despite it having raw fish in it because it was stacked under the piping hot chicken katsu. I also got the shrimp tempura roll, which tasted fine, but all the rolls had too much rice. As for the chicken katsu , it was over fried and very dry. Service is horrible. We got seated in the back with a fairly loud TV playing music videos was close to us. We felt like we were being ignored. Waited a very long time just for drinks (about 5 minutes). When the server arrived with our drinks, he did ask us if we needed straws and we ended up getting it ourselves. I was thirsty and was waiting a while for our server to get me a refill. Please wasn't too busy with a few tables filled. We ordered steak and chicken hibachi dinners with soup or salad We waited quite a while for our salad which I prompted the server to get us sooner. While the salad was good, the soup came with our entrees (finally) so I didn't have a chance to partake in warm soup and risk the entree getting cold. The Steak was good but was a little too Well done for my taste. My partner s steak was also too well done. The serve seemed rushed when he delivered our food so I could asked for the Ginger sauce that I normally would have with the steak. The chicken, rice, and veggies were good but not as good as I would expect. Bottom line. The food was good, the service.. subpar. They seem to be geared towards take out orders because the service has been slow and abrupt as if they don't train them properly. read more

Called for pick up at 6:40 was told to come in at 7:20 waited to hours for our food watched other customers getting their table and food and leave when their were multiple other people who were waiting for take out! Worse part is we spent over $90 on take out and also tipped before hand! You do not treat paying customers like this! read more

I hate leaving negative reviews but a few things prompted this. 1. Order was late about 20 minutes late 2. Sushi was hot, like temperature hot, the container it was sitting atop of the hot food 3. When opening the lid the sushi just fell apart 4. Missing soy sauce 5. Called in to express my concerns, they just apologized hoping I would just settle for just an apology 6. A pretty standard sushi place. Can't really say much about it. There isn't anything in particular that stands out to me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Got takeout during COVID. Solid, delicious sushi :) I had the eel avocado ($5.50) and yellowtail ($4.75) maki rolls. The rolls seem small but are filling! Good rice to filling ratio and fresh avocado (the worst for me is when sushi is too rice heavy!). I don't know whether I just haven't had sushi in a while but I loved it Food took some time to come but we were also a large group and they were probably fulfilling many other orders so makes sense. We tried the gyoza and the yakisoba and the bulgogi. All of it was very good and reasonably priced. Restaurant was clean as were the restrooms. I got the spicy tuna and three different nigiri and my wife got the pork ramen bowl with beef broth. The first two nigiri were okay but the last one had a sour/ sweet smell and tasted awful. This place is unassuming and from the outside I wasn't even sure I'd venture in. After reading other reviews, I stuck out my chest and went inside with the intention of getting a menu and maybe trying some sushi to go. The place was clean and the employees were so welcoming I decided to sit down and order give it a try. The Island Cream Tea and Shoyu Ramen with chicken caught my attention. For $14 the ramen came with an order of California rolls. The servers were attentive and the food came out quickly. I enjoy Thai tea but this was exactly as described, black tea with a splash of cream. Can't be mad that it wasn't rich in flavor...it was sweet and true to it's name. Not my favorite but true to description. The highlight of the meal was the California rolls. Fresh ingredients, creamy avocado, crunchy cake with a balanced piece of crab. The finer was fresh and the wasabi nice but not spicy enough for my taste buds...still I loved the freshness and look forward to ordering sushi from here again. The chicken shoyu ramen was extremely basic and didn't have the rich flavor I'm accustomed to. While I didn't eat but a few bites, it wasn't horrible. Noodles were properly cooked and it had lots of chicken. If I'm brave enough to try ramen next time, it will be their spicy (beef bone broth) dish. All in all, I rate this establishment a 4 for solid service, cleanliness and fresh sushi. First of all, my friends said the sushi was great - high quality and well presented. Service was on the slow side, but considering we ordered 7 rolls and there was only 1 chef making the sushi, we understood. (And it was a Saturday night). But I think they should've brought out the orders together though. I got my fried rice with ton katsu about 30 minutes before my friends got their sushi. The ton katsu was pretty good, well fried and chewy. Paired well with the sauce and fried rice. Fried rice was on the bland side when eaten alone, could use a few more ingredients like green peas or corn. Advice from my friends: ask for spicy mayo on the side when you order the sushi! The Ramen meat could be more seasoned but that is honestly my only complaint. Love the sushi, hibachi, and everything else that I've tried. I even love the ramen although the meat is bland. Of the three options chicken is the best as far as seasoning is concerned... the shrimp was the worse. I don't know why I'm harping on this though because everything else is sooooo good. I highly recommend the Tiki Torch Roll. It was so good. Seeing as sushi is in the name I think that's what is important. read more

I normally get Asahi, but wanted to try something different. The sushi was delicious, but the star is the chicken tonkatsu -- I've ordered it a few different times and it's consistently been delicious: crispy outside with the breading, and tender inside and NOT DRY. They're also accommodating with add'l sauce if you ask for it. I haven't eaten in the restaurant (is that even an option?), but I've ordered delivery from DoorDash and every time they've exceeded my expectations the whole way -- from taste to the quality of the ingredients and packaging presentation (hard to do!) and even delivery time (I know that's partially thanks to my DD drivers but still), this is a great option for Southern Maryland. read more

This is the best place for sushi in Southern Maryland. The sushi is always fresh, and they charge less than other restaurants in the area. I love their Tiki Torch Roll and Waikiki Roll. Their rolls are never overpowered with too much rice. My husband enjoys their steak habachi. We usually order carryout but have dined in a few times. But Island has a variety of menu options and gets specialty tunas and rolls that are not on the menu. The servers and sushi chefs are observant, informative and friendly. I went from impressed to disappointed really fast with my order from here. I had ordered spicy tuna poke, chicken katsu and spicy pork ramen. I thoroughly enjoyed my poke and I thought they gave a generous portion of tuna. It would have been a solid 5 star for me but it wasn't meant to be. I tried the ramen next and it was the biggest ripoff ever. They are selling Korean packet ramen as Japanese ramen. Just why? I guess it's my fault for ordering ramen from a sushi place but they should seriously consider removing this blasphemy of a "ramen" from their menu. They are selling $2 packet ramen for $14.
