Teapioca has unfortunately gone downhill from my last visit here a while back. We came on a Wednesday evening to an empty shop. We ordered the oolong cream milk with no sugar and grass jelly. I've got to say, this is probably the worst milk tea I've ever had. It was watered down, I tasted no oolong. The flavor was essentially melted ice with milk. The only saving grace was the grass jelly, which they barely gave us a small scoop of. Definitely not worth the $6. read more

Teapioca has been one of our favorite drink spots for over two years now. The location is great, there's tons of drink options & they price their items very well. (My favorite is the brown sugar one with egg pudding instead of tapioca bc if I don't finish it, it's still great the next day. The egg pudding doesn't get hard & chewy like all boba tends to do after a day in the fridge.) The staff is always polite & it's never too crowded & busy. It's a nice place to sit & scroll for a bit - and they have sofas if you don't like wooden chairs. I love the light and fluffy mountains of flavored shaved ice. The ice is shaved so thinly that it resembles a snow dusting in the Colorado Rockies. There is a flavor for every mood. I love honey dew, but some other examples are coconut, mango, and taro. They even have durian, but I would never try it. You can top your mountain of goodness with a variety of toppings. I like the jellies, popping boba, and fresh fruit. Indulge yourself and add a drizzle of condensed milk or chocolate. Service was wonderful on our visit. The young people working were friendly and helpful. Ambiance was nice, not crowded and so we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon treat. I've enjoyed Teapioca Lounge since the first location in Austin area first opened many years ago. I really like the focus on the tea flavors - something that many boba places kinda wash out with milk. Disclaimer: owners have since changed. When this location in Sugar Land first had their grand opening, I was pretty taken aback by the owner who was there for opening day who shared that they were going into this because they thought boba was very profitable. I just didn't like that it wasn't an exclamation of love for boba and stuff. They also dismissed the boba competition in Sugar Land. This location really struggled with consistency (too watery, too sugary) and the drinks weren't what the first location was like. So I stopped going. Flash forward to now there was a change in ownership - I don't believe I've met the new owners - but the drinks are consistent and taste just like the original location. The guy at the counter all the reviews complain about - he's fine and been there forever. I think all the employees are pretty nice. Maybe some customers are expecting super bubbly, boba consultants to advise you on the drink in impeccable English...but I mean it's just one boba drink of your life and the employees are already very patient with the customers that take forever to decide what they want. My favorite to get is the oolong cream blastea with 50/50 sugar and ice, with boba of course. You will have to wait for them to steep it fresh - and it's SO GOOD and worth it. I also enjoy the black cream blastea for something basic. I regularly get the large size to sometimes split or finish all by myself. It's a hilariously large size - literally double of the regular size. Oh also if you have a bad habit of chewing straws...the straws do crack and break...so try not to chew on it. Parking is plentiful and so is the seating inside. Like the original location, I think this place is well suited to study in with plenty of plug outlets and not much noise/chatter. I came here not knowing what I wanted, and the cashier attendant's attitude didn't help the situation either. I ultimately ordered the Light Vietnamese Iced Coffee with boba and when I mentioned that I wanted less ice, the attendant sternly mentioned that they couldn't adjust the ice level (which is fine, but again, it was the attitude for me). Overall, drink did meet expectations and the boba had just the right amount of chewiness, but with the negative interaction I had, I think I'll just stick with Feng Cha in the future. read more

My diet consists of 60% food, 40% boba drinks... so please know that it pains me to give Teapioca Lounge such a low review. I've tried a drink from almost every section of their menu to give them a fair assessment. Most were under par, and some were so bad I had to throw them out. - The boba isn't sweetened at all. No brown sugar taste. - Slushy drinks have large chunks of ice in them. I had to reblend my watermelon slushy at home. Once I blended it, however, the watermelon tasted good. - The fruit tea tasted so offensive, I had to throw the whole thing away. Tasted mostly of cheap orange juice. The "fresh" fruit were not sweet or ripe. - Strawberry milk tea was super sweet. I couldn't drink it, but my sugar-holic daughter liked it. Their menu is pretty intense... kind of reminds me of Sonic drive-thru... except I like the drinks at Sonic. I feel like they're trying to do too much, making every teahouse drink possible but ultimately sacrificing quality. The last time I was there, it took forever for our 2 drinks to come out. There were at least 4 employees behind the counter. When our drinks were finally ready, I watched them just sit there on the counter for over 5 minutes while a couple of employees were packing straws. After about a 20 minute wait, it turned out that neither of our drinks were very good. The one good thing they have is their Snowyn (Taiwanese shaved ice). It's nice and fluffy and about 10 minutes closer to me than Chinatown. But with teahouses becoming more prevalent than Starbucks in the Sugar Land area, a decent shaved ice alone is not enough to keep me coming back. read more

Should have gone to Tampa-OK Lounge. But when it comes to the drinks, it's just that the best that ever happens is, I'm like, it's okay, and more often I'm like, I can't drink this. Came here to assess the safety of a bridge upstate from NYC. Should have gone to Tappan-Zee-OK? Lounge. And that goes for both the odd tasting milk teas (Viet style perhaps) and also their hyper sweet Teahouse-but-not-as-good-as-Teahouse fruit teas. So definitely not my favorite chain, and while the Austin and San Marcos locations were worse, my favourite location by far was the one in Oklahoma City, which I actually used to enjoy hanging out at. As for the name, here's how it happened. I asked the Native Americans what sort of lodging they had available, and they said "is a Teepee ok?" I was like, "Teepee OK!" And thus, this place was named the Teepee OK Lounge. Houston has the best boba, and Sugar Land has a good selection of good stuff, and teapioca just doesn't come close by comparison, but I will say that service is nice and that decor is really great, and there's plenty of space in here. So I give it a positive rating for those reasons but I don't like the drinks here. Bumped up to 4 for nice decor, service was okay. Not to be confused with Peepee-ocho Lounge. A good friend introduced me to this spot. After perusing their menu, I ordered the Thai Blastea without boba and at 50% sweetness. But, you can order your drink at 25, 50, 75, or 100% sweetness. My drink was surprisingly not sweet enough for me. Next time, I come here, I'll order it at 75% sweetness. The Thai tea was quite strong, I have to say. Don't get this drink if you've already had a hefty amount of caffeine prior to coming here. I do appreciate the cute panda wall art and their shelf of board games. I also enjoyed relaxing on the couches in the middle of the cafe. My suggestion would be to maybe have more of these couches as opposed to the tables with the hard seats. This will create a more cozy space for patrons. Also, some tea spots do provide a few snacks to munch on while drinking their beverages. Maybe have a small snack menu? I was curious whether sugar land has shaved ice so looked it up on yelp and came up with this place. The decor is nice, clean and inviting. My dad really like the fact basketball game was on and there are sofas to sit and watch. We also noticed there are a few board games for public use. I was going to order the traditional Asian shaved ice and then realized $4.50 only buys you the ice and condensed milk and one wafer cookie. All toppings are extra. I was put off by the misleading picture but the staff were friendly and were eager to help. They suggested I tried the milky shaved ice instead so I went for mango milk shaved ice with fresh mango fresh strawberry and mochi plus asking for condensed milk on the side. It's usually too sweet for me. It was a large portion and surprisingly tasty. The fresh fruit were delicious. Mochi was just okay. The milky shaved ice was yummy. It cost $7.84 which is a bit steep and more like San Francisco prices. My parents definitely thought it was overpriced. Honestly our favorite boba spot! And so happy that it's so close to home and we don't need to go to bellaire for a fix. We've been coming here for years and the staff regularly changes but we've always had very positive experiences. They have big tables here so it's a good weekday study spot. Right across the street from Costco. We noticed this place right away as my son loves Teahouses! Of course we had to try it out. They are currently in their soft opening but will be having their grand opening on Dec 29th. The staff is very friendly and the inside is cozy and nice. A good place to hang out with friends or enjoy a smoothie after dinner etc. I like the layout and the strawberry banana smoothie I ordered is outstanding! Much better than what I'm used to. Right now during their soft opening drinks are 25% off but they will be having 2 for one drinks starting on the 29th through the 6th. Grab the postcard at the front counter. My son gave it two thumbs up and he's picky. It's nice having a place close to us for a change. We often to go to Chinatown as the best places are there in my opinion. First time I ordered the coffee with ice cream (vanilla) with boba for hubby. He really liked it. I got cookies & cream for my 3 yo. She loved it. It wasn't too sweet and they made sure to grind the cookie pieces small so she wouldn't choke. I had the mangonada and fruit tea with fruit chunks. Both really good. The fruit tea was a tad too sweet although I requested 1/4 sweetness. They don't have Splenda. The guy at the register was great at introducing and explaining. The second time I came I ordered a mocha frap for hubby and an unsweetened coconut green cream tea. Very good. They also sell soft shaved ice with toppings. I was pretty tempted to go for their 44 oz option but decided against it since I I haven't tried their Thai BlasTea before, so it would be a waste if I didn't like it. When asked if we wanted any sinkers with our drink, my boyfriend stated he wanted boba and I ordered egg pudding for my Thai BlasTea. We got our orders pretty quickly but my order had boba instead of egg pudding. Since I don't really mind having boba and felt like it was too much of a hassle to ask them to fix it, I decided to just leave with our orders. When I got a chance to try my drink in the car, I felt as though the Thai BlasTea was just okay. It wasn't sweet enough and we weren't asked for a sweetness preference when we ordered so I'm assuming my drink was at 100% sweet. If I was to order it again, I might have to see whether or not they can make it sweeter than 100% if this is the case. Creativity score: 9/10. The menu is extensive, and I especially like their fresh brewed teas. I always get the berry sage green tea when I go, it's worth the extra few minutes it takes to steep. There are tons of toppings, too! Quality score: 9/10. I'm not a tea expert, but everything I've gotten has been delicious in my opinion. Vibes score: 8/10. A standard, clean, modern cafe. Occasionally, someone on the staff will have a hard time understanding some of my more complicated questions, but there's always someone there who can help out, and the menu advice I get is always impeccable.
