I went through TeamImpulse for a dance floor and lighting as they are a preferred vendor at our wedding venue (Hangar 21). I reached out to them for pricing and quickly received a response from Raul. It was a little challenging to confirm the pricing for lighting at first since I'm a visual person and I wasn't 100% sure what we were getting. They had a few different options, and I requested to see some photos of their work at the venue. Once I had a better idea I went with the cascading lights that hung behind our sweetheart table. I can with 100% certainty say the lights were beautiful and absolutely elevated the room. Aside from the initial back and forth email communication, I had no interaction with them on the wedding day since my coordinator handled most of it. If I could give zero stars I would. 1. They "forgot" to set the lighting up for my wedding. 2. The lights that were up, are up all the time. They did not show up or set up for my event AT ALL. 3. I was refunded 1/2 of the total paid. While still being charged $350.00 for a "set up fee" keep in mind they never showed up for my event at all. 4. Finally was given the set up fee back but still charged $800.00 for absolutely nothing. He didn't even step foot at the venue for my wedding. This guys shady. We got this venue based on the lighting and how magical it made it look. All my photos didn't turn out like I dreamed. That's the one thing you get to remember your special day. After contacting over 10 different vendors, I decided to go with Impulse lighting for my wedding at the Majestic Downtown! Raul was great to work with. I gave him different photos of the ambiance I was looking for and he explained in detail what I would need to achieve that look. His prices are extremely reasonable and he doesn't try to sell you on things you don't need! I didn't get centerpiece pinspots for all tables for example since I didn't feel like I needed it, and he never pressured me to get more. He worked with my budget & definitely provided the perfect ambiance I wanted for my wedding. I couldn't have asked for a better lighting team! My only complaint would be about the speakers that we rented from his team (we had a friend DJ for our wedding) A whole side of the venue was unable to hear anything the MC was saying and the Bluetooth microphone that was part of the package stopped working. He spoke greatly about this business and with such a high rating, I was eager to find such a great deal and great company for my special day. - 4/19/18 I reached out to Raul for info and paid in full on 5/30/18 for the dance floor and pin spot through Venmo for the amount of $1480. Multiple voicemails, yelp messages and emails was left but no one returns my call or yelp back. - 07/16/18: I finally was able to get a hold of Raul and he said that he was on vacations so he couldn't answers my messages but assure that he will send the invoice and change the dance floor size as well as refund the differences. But he never did. At this point, I felt like I was being scammed. - 07/24/18: I waited over a week, trying to be understanding because he's probably busy catching up after his vacation. I left another email, but he never replied. - 08/14/18: I left a voicemail saying that i would take this legally and Raul called back within couple minutes saying he will send receipt and refund the differences. But he never did. - 08/15/18: I called and emailed again, then finally I received the receipt with the break down of my credit from down sizing the dance floor. (Copy & Paste) REDUCING THE DANCE FLOOR WILL CREATE A $180 Credit The way this is calculated: Your Dancefloor cost was $1400 Minus a $370 Discount applied Real cost $1030 18'x18' is $850 So if downsized then difference in credit is $180 Since reducing size, pricing no discount would apply. Would you like to proceed? (Raul, 8/15/18) This math is totally wronged! $370 discount from $1,400.00 is a 26.43% discount. Raul gave me 20% discount from the total amount of $1,850.00 And why down sizing would have no discount? Regardless I am paying cash. Nowhere on the original invoice nor his policies on his website states that no discount will apply on downsized dance floor. When I confronted the issues, Raul simply said " I applied the discount to the Dancefloor. Since you had mentioned you got a cheaper quote. Reducing the Dancefloor size would change the arranged price.What we could do is offer a full refund if you don't feel the credit is correct." No the discount was applied on both the dance floor and pin spot and I never mentioned I got cheaper quote elsewhere. The emails are proof. Raul leaving me no choice but to ask for a refund because he would not honor the discount or checking his math. Now I am 8 weeks away from having my wedding and no dance floor or lighting. Raul didn't want to venmo back my money but asked to write me a check instead which taking longer time to clear the check. All of my fund are tight up and I need to find and pay another dance floor vendor. I can't trust or wait for the check to come, so I decided to come and pick up the check. I took half a day off from work just to pick up the check but Raul cancelled last minute saying the can't make the appt due to work. So he will Venmo instead. Why not Venmo in the first place? No respect on people time. I am not here to tell any one to book or not to book with this business. They do have great reviews and their works look amazing. I hope they the best. But this is not how a 5 stars business should handle issues like this. I expect more from professionals. Please don't do this again to any brides or grooms. We trusted you and honestly just want to have a great time at our wedding. Wedding planning is already enough stress. You shouldn't be the reason why wedding planning sucks, but you should be the one that help making wedding great. read more

I called and spoke to Raul after booking his services for our wedding. I explained to him that my to-be husband lost his job and we couldn't afford the wedding we had booked Impulse for. Raul was kind and shared with me that he could refund my deposit of $350 after reviewing with his business partner ("which shouldn't be a problem"). After 3 weeks, I still had not heard back from him. I called again and clearly caught him off-guard. He said he was on a job and would prefer I email him a formal request. I obliged. This was back in August. Three months have passed. I have called 3 times since, leaving friendly voicemails requesting a call back. Nothing. If you can't refund, say so. My wedding was on April 27, 2014 and Raul did the fuschia uplighting, centerpiece pinspotting, GOBO, projector slideshow, and white pipe-and-drape for the walls. Everything was gorgeous and exactly the way he had assured me they would be during our meetings and e-mails beforehand. If I ever had a question about anything before the wedding, Raul was quick to reply and super-friendly. He showed up early to our meetings and was very professional. My DJ and other rental vendor had quoted me crazy expensive pricing for lighting and pipe-and-drape, so I decided to shop around and do my research online. I'm glad that I did because I found Impulse Event Lighting that way and we got great pricing- I'm talking like over half or 3/4 savings on what other vendors quoted me. I was a little nervous, to be honest, about the quality of service I was going to get since Raul's prices were so good, but when the day came everything was perfect. Would leave zero stars but it's not an option. I have been consistently trying to contact Raul and his team for a refund of my cancelled event and have yet to get a proper response in regards to my refund check. I'm leaving a review to warn potential patrons of what is happening to me. On November 25th of 2018 I paid in full for a lighting / drapery package for my July 6th wedding that cost $4,383.90. I paid in full early to get in on a discount offer that the company offered which I thought was really nice, in addition I had heard wonderful reviews of Raul and his team from his friends so I fully trusted him as a vendor and was excited to work with him. I sent a floor plan and ideas to Raul and he was encouraging and confident that he could get it done. Fast forward to April 2019 - my engagement and relationship encountered some unfortunate, irreversible issues that resulted in my fiance and I to amicably call of the wedding. On April 12th, I emailed Raul telling him that I needed to cancel my July 6th wedding, and understand that 30% of the total cost would be nonrefundable. I had my wedding coordinator cc'ed on all emails and after not hearing a response, my coordinator finally got in contact with Raul and learned that we had been emailing his old email address. Finally, on May 21, over a month later we got in contact with him on his current email and he responded apologetically, saying he would look into my cancelled event. Still having not heard from him in regards to the cancellation, I sent three follow up emails in June and received no responses. I continued to call both his cell phone listed in his signature as well as the office phone, leaving voicemails to no avail. On June 17th I called again and Raul finally picked up the phone. He said he'd be happy to mail the remainder of the deposit check and told me to email him my address. Immediately after getting off the phone I emailed him my address and asked him to let me know when the check will be mailed out. He responded with "Received and will be processed. Have a great day!" I was starting to feel optimistic. But after checking the mail day after day, nothing arrived. I started another string of emails... with no responses from Raul or his team. I sent follow up emails on July 10, July 15, and August 5th with no word. Just radio silence. I started calling again and Raul finally picked up the phone on September 9th, apologizing and saying that he will send the check out. A week passes and I call again on Sept. 17. He apologizes again, saying he signed the check himself and will look into it, and will send the check off to the post office after getting off the phone, also saying that he will text me with a tracking number that day. I waited 30 min, an hour, 2 hours. Nothing. I texted asking for a tracking number... no response. I sent follow up texts on Sept. 18 and Sept. 25. No response. I sent emails on the 18th and 25th, with no response. I have left voicemails, begging for Impulse to send the check so I can close this chapter of my life. It's been incredibly emotionally painful to endure the traumatic events that resulted in the cancellation of such a major life event. I just wanted to put everything behind me. All of my other vendors were so compliant and compassionate in issuing rightful refunds in a timely manner. For the most part I've been able to close this chapter. But with Impulse it's been such a slow, painful, arduous, unnecessarily exhausting process... I still in complete disbelief. I do want to believe Impulse is a great company and Raul is a good person and I know they're super busy. I do want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard under these circumstances. The refund is something that I'm still waiting for and will be contacting the company about until this issue is resolved. I think it's incredibly unprofessional to be so quick to take a client's money and quick to respond to emails and calls but so cumbersome in returning a rightful refund - suddenly not responding to any emails, calls, texts or voicemails. I'm still waiting for the amount of 3068.73 (full amount minus the non refundable 30%) to be sent me in a check. read more
