WHEN: Mon @10am I was referred by my sis to speak with Erica at Team Up Movers after they did such a great job moving her piano from San Jose to Castro Valley. So when I was moving my entire apt into a new home just 3 miles away, I was communicating via text a couple of weeks before the moving day! Here is the pricing breakdown: Labor Rate- $130/hour 3 Movers Fuel & Trucking Fee - $30 flat rate Double Driving TIme: Waived! (Per CA law, double the driving time is from pick-up to drop-off location) Tip: $10/per hour per person (but I say please give more!) They can provide packing/wardrobe boxes, but Kitchen/mics items for packing/boxing will be extra fees sincde those require packing materials. I did not use this. They charge hourly the first 3 hours, and then in increments of 15 minutes after that. Based on our initial and brief exchange with the items needed to move, she was quickly able to provide an estimate based on the factors listed above: 4-6 hours, which is $670-$990 (before tip) However, because I wanted for the Movers to protect my carpet in my home, I requested they lay down a adhesive plastice along the carpeted pathway, which is on my stairway. I also want the walls and bainsters protected as they carry my furtinure up. I brought this up, and it was an additional $200, which in total still came out to a great deal! All 3 Movers were very professional effecient. Although they didn't speak much English, they utilized thier Google Translator from their phone, so there is was issue communicating with them! I appreciated that after a quick walkthough of our place and the furniture, one of them confidently said: "Easy! We can do this!" We loved hearing this enthusiasm! The items they moved (with some dissembly and assembly) included: - 1 Couch - 1 Coffee Table - 2 Ottomans - 1 Dining Table - 5 Dining Chairs - 4 End Tables - 4 Bookshelves - 1 TV - 1 TV Stand - 1 Bed - 1 Armoire - 4 Desks - 3 Office Chairs - 3 Tall Plants - 2 Large Framed Art Prints - 3 Dressers And they did it all in 4 hours, which is $750 before tip! I also appreciate the honesty when they started the clock. They arrived on time at 10am, and after parking and walking through our place, they started the clock at 10:15am. My one and only feedback is that I wished they wrapped up our Sofa cusions in plastic as well. Since they are handling it with thier hands, after handling the rest. But its no big deal. We hired Team Up Movers to help with loading / carrying our items from a third floor apartment into our own rented UHaul truck. Their skills are impressive and efficient but there are some concerns!!!! -------------------------- PLANNING / SCHEDULING (5/5) Erica was extremely helpful with scheduling and last minute (out of our control) changes. I appreciate her patience and quick responses. EFFICIENCY (5/5) We had two guys help us with wrapping larger furniture and bringing the items down 3 flights of stairs and loading a 20ft UHaul truck. They moved so quickly we were able to get things done in 3hrs. MATERIALS ??? I'm unsure if furniture wrap and rolls of tape was included in this fee... I think it was? Either way we also provided furniture wrap and tape. I know all the materials were used but only one furniture wrap was heavily used and we were left with little to nothing left at the end. (Ofc this didn't matter to me but on top of the payment issue, this added on to some annoyance towards the end) LOADING TRUCK STRATEGY (2.5/5) While they were able to impressively Tetris all the items into the truck after concerns of not being able to fit everything in.... I had labeled explicitly which boxes were fragile in large text "FRAGILE" and I noticed some of the fragile boxes being put at the bottom of the stack. It was a good thing I put alot of effort in packing it so nothing broke, but 4-5 of our boxes collapsed. Some boxes were obviously lighter than others but placed at the bottom of the stack. That was slightly concerning. PAYMENT EXPERIENCE (1/5) Rates were predetermined with Erica: $110/hr for 2 movers $20 flat rate to travel here $10/tip per person per hour ---------------------------- For 3 hours: (110*3hr) + 20 + 2people(10*3hr) = $410 Prior to starting, the main guy wrote down the start time at 11am and I signed off. When we were done, we signed 2pm end time. I had calculated to exactly what was asked of Erica and put all the cash into a ziplock bag and thrown in more cash adding up to ~$440. When I handed it to the guy, he went back to the calculations and continuously insisted that the time it took to finish was 3.25hours? (He literally crossed out 3hrs and changed it to 3.25hrs) Luckily I caught that the other guy spoke Chinese and I was able to point it out to him that 11am-2pm was only 3hrs and that it's messed up... The Chinese speaking man agreed and told the man the math was not adding up. After more silence, it finally registered that he was upset with the tip (him and his partner's cut vs the company's cut) and we were more than willing to give more. We ended up tipping each person $100... however the path getting there --- the lie/gaslighting did not leave a good impression. read more

We were disappointed that during the move the stainless door of our refrigerator suffered damages - see photo. These were impossible to repair and the whole panel had to be replaced. In addition to this major problem, the efficiency of the movers were also not very good. They frequently stop and need instructions for every box instead of just looking at the labels or mapping the layout of the houses. As a result it took much longer to move the house than we used to with other companies. I do want to appreciate the effort they spend to protect the other furnitures. read more

I had the worst experience from Daniel today. My housemate hired Team Up to help move her stuff out and into a new apartment. As Daniel and his partner were moving stuff out they damaged my archway above my stairs. My housemate tried speaking with them about it, and they said they would come paint but that's all they would do. The damage done isn't just paint, they removed the layer of texture that's under the paint as well. So painting it won't fix the problem, it will just keep flaking away around it. I called Daniel to explain this and he was incredibly unprofessional and rude to me. He admitted to knowing he damaged my archway and took pictures but said NOTHING to me or my housemate as they were moving her stuff out. I discovered it because I found flecks of texture and paint all over my floor. I said he was responsible for fixing it to the way it was before the damage. He continued to argue with me saying it's "just paint" I held firm that it was not and it needed to be fixed properly and ultimately he said he wasn't "going to fix shit" and hung up on me. I'm in talks with the owner, Larry, to get this fixed. However, I feel this review still needed to be made in hopes to hold someone accountable. From the conversation I've had with Larry, this isn't the first time Daniel has damaged something and not taken responsibility for it. If you hire them, make sure Daniel isn't the one coming out to your home because he will damage something, not tell you, yell at you for a mistake he did and not take responsibility for the damages. I felt I could trust them to take care of my belongings as they secured each furniture item. They were incredibly efficient, focused, and friendly. I will start by saying the workers moved our things in and out of our home carefully. However, on three separate occasions I described the home we'd be moving out of and I detailed the items that we had. They gave me a price quote and recommended truck size. We agreed. Upon arrival, they did not fit everything into the truck, not even close. They had to come back the next day. There was no discussion of an additional cost. They originally quoted us $1300 for 9 hours of work. The first day took 8.75 hours, and they charged us over $1600. We questioned this, and they insisted the charge was correct, and wouldn't work with us at all. The second day took 6 hours (after they arrived 45 minutes later than the window they gave), and they charged an additional $1200. Again, they would not work with us on the cost, and there was no discussion of an additional charge for the second day. I really do understand that errors with truck space estimations can mean two trips. But there was no communication with us at all about the cost, which in the end was over double what we were quoted. They did not accept card payment. Only took cash, Venmo, or Zelle. I had to pay the workers in Zelle and Venmo directly, I never paid an actual company, which was very confusing and frankly a bit of a red flag. The workers were fast and hustled. At the end of the first day, I gave each of them a generous cash tip. They counted it and then pointed to a line on a document they brought that had a "suggested tip" amount. I was $1 per hour off from the suggested tip they showed me. I ended up giving them each more cash. Immediately afterward, one worker went to my husband without me there and asked him for even more cash. They were tipped again after the second day. We also noted that they were drinking energy drinks (totally fine), but we found the empty cans in the bushes and trees at both the house we were leaving and the house we moved into. In the end, I'm grateful to have had our things moved. But we absolutely did not budget for over double what the quote was, only to have the workers ask for more money and leave garbage on our property. I'm extremely frustrated that even though I described what we had on 3 separate phone calls, our quote stayed the same and we were expected to have an additional $1500+ at our disposal. They would not work with us at all. We went with this company because the quote was significantly lower than another moving company, but now I understand why. We were backed into a corner and had to pay more than the other "more expensive" company - we would have saved money if we had booked with someone else. read more

Solid team for moving! They were quick and efficient. We had to move from our 3 bed/2 bath house; we were probably about 85% packed by the time they arrived and were able to finish packing the remaining 15% with their help. With 3 movers, they were able to get our entire house packed into the van in about 4 hours, get to the location, and unload in about 4 hours as well. One thing I'll add is that the movers work really hard, so if they're doing a job that's going to take more than 4 hours, definitely try to provide lunch and plenty of water throughout the day for them! read more

This is my second time moving in 1 year and this time, it was moving into a 3-story home. I thought I was going to have a difficult time budgeting and managing this move because I was unsure if I needed 2 movers or 3, and what size truck to use. Team Up Movers made it extremely easy. I had compared a few quotes and kinda got the idea, and Team Up Movers was about the same price as the other places, but, the customer service was a lot better of an experience than the other competitors, which is what ultimately led to my decision of selecting them. The movers were so nice. I got them breakfast to begin the day (They arrived at 8:30am) and they worked quietly and efficiently until about 11:30am when we finally loaded the truck and went to the new property. They were able to manuver through the halls and stairs with ease and with care. They put all of my furniture back together and put all of the boxes where they needed to be. The movers finished at about 3:30pm. My estimate was a 6 hour move, but it only took 7 hours even with stairs! I paid them via Zelle after we calculated and agreed on the service fees.​ read more

We moved out of our 2 bedroom apartment into a pod for an out of state move. The movers were on time, parked the truck in the drive way very easily, and got right to work! It's a tough driveway so I knew we were in good hands once they easily made the reverse up a hill to get into the parking spot. Picture attached for proof. This is VERY belated, but I've been meaning to post a review for these guys because they were LIFESAVERS for me and my husband's move last year. They did an amazing and efficient job wrapping furniture, moving furniture (including massive stuff like bookshelves, a U-shaped sectional, a full wooden entertainment center, a king bed frame, and very heavy-duty tables) and boxes into the truck, and moving us from a house (we were renting a bedroom there) to an apartment... Without any elevators (we are on the second floor, up a flight of stairs). I was seriously amazed at their speed of packing, and how one person could lift a heavy couch sectional on his back... And how another one even helped unscrew and rescrew our bedroom (makeshift office) door in order to get a wide desk in! They were also friendly and didn't complain or gripe despite the hard work it all required. They kept asking me if their furniture placement was okay and never complained when I asked them to move something a little to the left or right. AND on top of that, it was a hot day, and they were sweating so much in addition to wearing masks to protect from COVID. And all for such a fair price, too (compared to many other companies I had looked up and gotten quotes from). My ONLY point of constructive feedback is that I'm pretty sure one box of kitchen supplies somehow got lost in the midst of everything. I didn't realize it till afterwards, of course. And it was also my fault for not noticing earlier. It probably got left deep in the truck but I honestly don't even know.
