Pretty good overall. The Teak House Noodles (wide noodles) are good but could use something else in the sauce. I added some chile crisip and that helped. The Pad Prik King and Yakisoba were great. The only thing a bit weird is having a cold lettuce salad in the same box under hot noodles. Will visit again. read more

First time came in Teak house at Sun night around 6pm with my hubby. There were no customers in the restaurant, but a woman showed us to a table. First I ordered hot tea. The tea came in a pot, so I was able to drink plenty of it. After that we ordered Teak house noodle and Crispy garlic chicken. Another group of customers took their seats. Several customers came for takeout. The Crispy garlic chicken we ordered was well seasoned and delicious. I also liked the Teak house noodle because it tasted good. It's basically a bunch of rice noodles, flat and broad, over a bed of lettuce like salad with the meat mixed in. All you need a nice hot sauce ... Prices are whatever they want without a disclaimer it seems like. When I ordered off the lunch menu for take out, at $10.50 a dish, it came out to $13.15 (after taxes) for each dish. When I questioned about it, the lady said prices are subject to change. Everything is $1.00 more. Well, that should be written on the menu if you're falsely advertising your lunch prices or at least verbally mention it. Lady wasn't friendly either. Food: do not order the phad thai. Unless you like your noodles more on the bland side because maybe you're sensitive to sugar. The phad thai is very bland (like someone mentioned that they made it with ketchup). Their phad thai does not have the tamarind and peanut flavors that it should have. So why 3 stars? The phad kee mao is actually decent. Not the best but its decent. Also the portions for the dishes are pretty generous for lunch sizes even with the sneaky price adjustments. Ordered at 5 stars spicy and I dont know where the spice went. Maybe they snuck the spices away too. Interior is pretty nice. Kinda cozy. Seems clean. You know what ? I wonder why I didn't want to try this little Thai restaurant when I've been in Burien for years now. The hostess/waitress asked me the same question. Haha! I usually go to another restaurant in Tukwila, but I honestly wanted to see how this nearby Teak House Restaurant would be since it's like 1 minute from my place. I ordered Thai basil fried rice and Pad-See-Eww [SP]. The portions are great, and the taste is awesome! Now, I have a go-to Thai restaurant for take-out food. I am not so sure about the restaurant interior as it is outdated with furnitures and small. I would prefer this place to be a take-out option rather than actually sit there and have food. The interior reminds me of a Teriyaki restaurant, which is typically bland, old, and simple. Anyway, don't let the restaurant interior discouraging you from entering the premise. If the food was exceptional then the price would have been worth it. The food was not good though. The yellow curry and Tom Kah tasted like concentrated chicken broth and the phad thai only tasted like sugar. There was a definite lack of fresh herbs and veggies in the phad thai. We came in 30mins before they close but they are really nice. I ordered papaya salad which they put so much garlic. Taste garlicky and not enough flavors. The other dish I ordered is phad kee mao. My coworker and I come here at least once a week. I like their Pad See Ew, which is what I usually get when I'm trying out any thai restaurant. However, what is a great deal is their lunch specials, which there are five. For about $9, you get an entree, small bowl of rice, one fried spring roll, and salad. The salad dressing is really yummy and unlike any other dressing I've had before. What I always get is either the Red Curry or Pad Kee Mao lunch special. Both are equally yummy. I am so confused why this place only had 3 1/2 stars. Every time I've came the portions are generous, authentic, and fresh. I walked in today and it may have took a little but for the host/waitress to come back to take my order but it was well worth it. She may have got held up, patience for good food is key! I ordered the Phad Thai, it was delicious, the spring rolls, and soup. By far all was hot, fresh, and amazing. Let's no forget the portion size to boot! Drove by this place and thought we give it a try. The sign is very small so it's easy to pass up. Inside itself is small also but it's not too bad. Customer service was ok. The food was ok also, to me there wasn't enough seasoning. Oh I almost forgot they have other items written on paper stuck to their wall instead of being on their menu, so make sure to look at their walls incase you see something else you like. My wife wanted crispy garlic chicken but it wasn't on their menu, not until later when we were going to leave that we saw, "crispy garlic chicken" on the wall in the corner. Take this place with a grain. They are understaffed. Food was fresh and delicious, the two items I ordered anyway. You can substitute tofu for meat in the dishes. My wine was turning to vinegar so I asked for a fresh glass; the server didn't hesitate to open a new bottle. Restroom was clean, good sign. Service was okay; they are nice but rushed. They didn't rush me, I mean the waitperson was rushed, very busy. Someone wrote in their review that "Customers inside the restaurant gets ignored because they keep taking phone orders." It's true that the waitress is taking phone orders, and that gets in the way of table service a bit, but I can not say I was ignored, more...I was less noticed than most restaurants. I was not in a hurry, so this was no problem for me at all. Lots of people coming by to pick up to-go orders. Small place, you hear everything said between the two people working there, the server and the cook. And they speak loudly. But because they were not speaking in English it was not distracting to me. Whle the portion sizes are slightly smaller than usual for lunch, we both skarfed down our meals and felt full and satisfied when we were finished. I - as always - ordered mine "Thai spicy" and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Thai peppers were cooked into the disk in the proper way, instead of finding a pile of dried chili flakes sprinkled on my otherwise finished curry. Parking is pretty tight - this is a busy little strip mall, but there's a space if you orbit for a while. The staff is nice, the room is simple, and the food definitely is worth the trip. This is not Typhoon - not tablecloth Thai - it's casual lunch atmosphere. However do keep your voice down as everything carries in this accoustically bright square room. read more

I do have trouble getting the level of spiciness that I want (usually more than I can handle), but some people like that! Their food is always excellent, though. Another time I wish we could do half stars here. 3 and a half stars. A friend took me here because she has to be careful about what she eats. It's a small place in an even smaller strip mall but it's surprisingly close to work so I'm all over that! We stepped in and a man told us to sit anywhere. The friend told me he's usually a little happier, but I imagine it gets a little mindless seating and serving people for long hours and he seemed responsive depending on how friendly you were. I ordered the garlic supreme with tofu. They have an interesting way of piling crisp coated pieces on 2 inch slices of cooked tofu over the vegetables but it's tasty stuff. We stopped by this little place the other day just to grab some take-out on the way home. We ordered the fresh spring rolls with tofu and peanut sauce, the red curry with chicken, and the swimming rama. The people working were friendly and the gal cooking came out to discuss the menu with us. Let me just say that the peanut sauce was the absolute worst I have ever had in my entire life. It was lumpy, very dark brown, and actually had burned gelatinized clumps of sauce that they must have scraped off the bottom of the pan. Considering that I was going to eat that with my spring rolls and curry, I was extremely disappointed. How can you serve burned sauce when its a dipping sauce?! So its three stars because the rama (minus the peanut sauce) was ok and the curry was wonderfully spicy-hot. If the peanut sauce was at least edible, they'd get more stars. Plus they are closed on sunday- the Japanese places are closed on sunday, so now how am I supposed to eat on sunday? :-) read more
