$9 is not special. It's expensive. That's how much they charge for their lunch special. The small portions are criminal. I ordered the Red Curry with Chicken. The curry flavor was good, but it came in a small cup loaded with bamboo shoot. There was barely any chicken in there. My friend ordered a beef stir fried. Same thing. They have another lunch menu in the $7 range. I'd hate to see what the portions on that looks like. The meal comes in a small plate. And on that plate, they manage to fit some salad, one scoop of rice, one eggroll, and the entree on there. And it does come with a soup; which wasn't bad. I would expect larger portions for $9. The food is pretty good, I've had worse, but the PRICES! I sent my husband to pick up a take-out order of chicken pad thai and shrimp fried rice. Basically noodles and rice. The shrimp dish had a total of 3 or 4 shrimp, and the usual tiny bits of carrot and a few peas. This dish is $16.95 plus tax? You've got to be kidding me. The chicken pad thai was $13.95. Basically a big container of noodles, with some shredded chicken and a little peanut on top, almost no vegetables. And my bill was really high for only getting two items. 32.00? The bill was not itemized, it was like she just made up a number and wrote down some random chicken scratch. We have been enjoying Teak House for years. They do a great job in person or for take out. Try the Tom Kha Soup and/or Green Curry with tofu or with chicken. We also often get the Steak Salad. This is where we take our vegetarian relatives to every time they visit, at their request. read more

This is one of the best thai food places I've ever been. It started with the great service. My order was taken with a great attitude. The food was then served to me with such love and care. I ordered to go and they cut a whole in the plate for my chicken to breathe, stay fresh, and contain the heat. The impeccable service wasnt even the best part. The best part of the experience was when I got home to start my dining experience. The food was spectacular. The noodles were the perfect texture. The chicken was cooked just right. Best peanut sauce evar! We love this place! We order take-out at least every week or two. We live nearby, so it's easy for me to call the order in and my husband to pick it up on his way home from work. They're very quick with the carry-out. Once in a while we eat there, too; it's just a little space in a tiny strip mall, nothing special in terms of atmosphere, but the booth benches are comfy and they're very friendly. Some of our favorites are the deep fried tofu (we ask for peanut sauce rather than the regular thin sweet sauce with that, and the peanut sauce is fantastic; I have no idea why one reviewer had a problem with it, must've been a one-time thing), fresh rolls, fried spring rolls, mussamun curry, yellow curry, ginger, basil, and wide noodle dishes. They can make everything with tofu, great if you're veggie or just don't eat much meat. I haven't tried the lunch specials, since we go for dinner, but I hear they're a great deal. read more

I have only been here two times and both times I have been disappointed. This last time I came in they had lunch specials up, but as I ordered they lady told me that the prices don't apply for lunch specials on the weekend. I asked why do they have lunch specials on the board if they are not honoring those prices? She stated because it was the weekend. Teak House is a small 10 table neighborhood Thai restuarant in a small strip mall. It has wood-type paneling, but it I don't think it is Teak. They have all the usuals, and they can be ordered in 4 levels of spicy heat. A sampling of the menu: Thai Spring Rolls, $5.75; Pad Thai $7.95; Chicken Tom Yum soup, $7.95; Garlic Fish (lightly deep fried Talapia with veggies) $10.95; Panang Curry, $8.50. I had the Red Curry with Tofu, served simply with julienne bell peppers and bamboo shoots in a bowl, with an equal amount of rice, and a small dab of shaved napa cabbage, more like garnish quantity. It is family run, good for the local crowd, and nothing special to drive out of your way too far to find. Prices are very reasonable, flavors are decent. No pretense here, just a Thai family making a living in Seattle. read more

Okay, I have been driving past this place for the past few years and finally got to try it out on a very busy Monday night. Granted it is a small place, but it was packed and with only one waitress (who remained a good sport throughout - good service). We ordered chicken satay, pad thai, and green curry with 3 stars. The pad thai was okay, not the best, but overall what I've come to expect from most thai restaurants. The green curry was on the bland side, and not nearly spicy enough - wouldn't order that again. The satay was actually a surprise. We got atleast five skewers that were larger and tastier than most I've had at other thai places. If their green curry was better I would definitely give them four stars. read more

This little Thai restaurant is snuggled into a strip mall between Burien and Normandy Park and is across from my physical therapist. I always try a curry to test a Thai restaurants' quality. I tried the chicken panang curry 3 star. I wish I could say it was great and had authentic Thai taste but it was more like Chinese food. The curry flavors were sort of bland, the chicken was stringy and the variety of veggies within the curry was limited. I have been eating Thai food since it came to the PNW in the 80s and this just doesn't cut it. Plus I think $10 for a lunch entree ( with brown rice ) without any extras is a little much. Most restaurants offer soup or spring rolls with the lunch but only select entrees listed on the board did that. I won't be back and hope to find my local Thai restaurant soon. read more

This is the best Thai food in burien by a long shot. The food is always right on point and the owners are really friendly. It's a small restaurant so seating can be a challenge during lunch and dinner and being a smaller operation the food can take a bit of time to come out. my mate confused what time sunset was, and when we tried to just pay for the order over the phone so she wouldn't have to expose herself to nocturnal predators, the lady on the phone got super-pushy and we didn't want to be put on some sort of a blacklist because we takes what we can gets down here in south king county. so we flew like the wind and exhorted our most primal of wing feathers only to find when we got home that they had totally made it the wrong level of spicy. it was all i could do not to shred all of the packaging with my beak and claws and spread it all over the neighborhood. read more

I freakin' love the teak house. They single-handedly introduced me to (and taught me to love) a whole new cuisine. I haven't been to the new "thai bistro" in des moines, but the teakhouse was always my favorite local thai. We love this place for the hot and sour soup, deep fried tofu, crab delights and most of all the Lard Nar. The lard nar is wide noodles you can get with veggie, tofu, beef, chicken, or pork topped with some of the best Thai gravy sauce. They are my 4th favorite Thai place in the general area. My two favorite dishes from any thai place are Phad Thai and Yellow Curry. Both of theirs are very good but not my favorites. I have tried probably 10 dishes total from here and none of them stood out as my favorite, but all of them are very well done. My biggest complaint is their hours. They are closed from like 3-5, I am normally coming home at 4:30 so its just not convenient for me coming straight home from work. Otherwise, good food, food, good service, good value. EDIT: They are actually now my 2nd favorite thai place. I found what I had been doing wrong. Previously, I would order something right at 5 when they re-open (weekdays). Seems like they rush to get it out then, and the quality is a bit all over. Push that out to 6 PM, and their phad thai and especially their phad se ew is amazing. the phad thai can still be a little inconsistent, maybe 9/10 times its what you expect and that 10th time its a little off, but its worth the gamble for me! read more

My favorite Thai in the south end of the city. You can taste the quality and pride their chef puts into each bite of food. It presents well too. Small place - we usually get it to go. Favorites include: Teak House Fried Rice, Teak House Salad with Peanut Sauce on the side and THE SOUP! Don't forget the soup. I get Won Ton often and think about it more often than that....
