Fresh young coconut

This is one of my absolute favorite place in Des Moines. I have been at Dee Des Moines multiple times and it just keeps getting better! They have made many changes inside the dining area. It is neat to be able to see the changes and growth of small businesses such as this one. The place is clean and organized and quaint. The staff are warm and welcoming. I do enjoy dining in and there are plenty of tables to choose from to eat at. I do love the way they make their Phad Thai. It has plenty of vegetables in it. That is one thing I appreciate is that they do not skimp on the vegetables. Sometimes I prefer not having my phad Thai with meat so I opt for tofu. They give you a choice of fried or not, which I like that. Very Vegetarian friendly. If you love curry you will have to try theirs. So They have a great selection on their menu! Many popular choices. My go to is the massaman curry. I recently tried their Chiangmai curry noodles. At first I was shocked to see the crunchies on top. I thought that it would be crunchy style but it was just the toppings. The chef came out and showed me how to add the onions, lime and bean sprout. There was also pickled mustard. I wasn't sure about the mustard until I had that first bite! Wow! So good and perfectly fused together with a hint of the lime sour and savory taste, yum!!! I really needed that soup since the weather was so doom and gloom and cold. It helped me warm up. To top it off, I had to have their young coconut. I drank the juice and ate the coconut meat after, I just couldn't get enough. Felt like I was in the tropics. The window seat is the best. It is relaxing to look outside and just check out. The view faces the corner of 216th and Marine View Dr. The music is calming and I enjoy listening to Thai music. It fits the esthetic. I really like when they play the Thai country music sometimes. Definitely a place to go back and bring friends. Or eat alone and do a little office work. I get their Thai tea for that occasion. Overall experience has been great every time I go in. Food is amazing. Great options available. Chefs are very caring and is sweet to explain her dishes when I was not sure about what to order. And I appreciate the suggestions to try something new to prevent me from eating the same thing every time. The wait staff are family but I do not mind. I enjoyed their service. One thing I do see that could really help make a drastic change for them are the floors. Which I understand, they plan to get that done in the future. Oh and I almost forgot! Although they are a Thai restaurant, I love that they offer Laos papaya salad, if you love papaya salad Laos style, you definitely will love theirs!!! I always slurp when it is this good!!! Best Laos papaya salad in town!!!!

Classical Pad Thai Noodle with Chicken

Note that Dee Des Moines Thai Cuisine IS OPEN during Covid for TAKEOUT and DELIVERY ONLY!! My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for dinner while exploring the Des Moines area. He had eaten here before, but this was my first time. Dee Des Moines is a small, stand alone restaurant that takes up the lower floor of a house. The exterior is cute with lots of greenery and square cut hedges. I ordered a chicken pad Thai (4 star) and my boyfriend ordered a chicken pad see ew (3 star) to go. We also were going to order mango iced tea, but they were out, and so we both ended up getting Thai iced teas instead. Our total came to about $34 including tax. The staff is very nice and were all wearing masks. They had our food ready within 15 minutes. They have a parking lot and so we just waited there until our food was ready. Both dishes had lots of noodles (maybe a little less protein than other places), but was more than enough to fill our hungry stomachs. The four star pad Thai definitely had a kick to it, but nothing unbearable and definitely nothing the Thai iced tea couldn't fix! I wish the noodles were slightly sweeter, but the overall taste was good! My boyfriend also enjoyed his noodles. Overall: 4/5 for food, 5/5 for service

We ordered to eat everything family style.

Funny story, almost 5 years ago my uncles brought me to this restaurant to eat 3.5 star everything in order to induce my labor. Literally hours later in the middle of the night, my water broke! We ate here again today (takeout only), and everything was so good! We ordered pad thai, pad see ew, crispy garlic chicken, panang curry, fried rice, pot stickers and fresh rolls. Everything was so fresh, so full of flavor, and it just got better and better as the day continued on and I was able to keep picking at what was left. That panang curry though!!!! I am still drooling thinking about it. I ordered pick up and it was ready on time, the woman was thoughtful and considerate (she asked if we needed utensils before I left). It's more of a hole in the wall type vibe since they don't allow dining in anymore. It's kind of like a house, so you see the busyness of life as you enter. I didn't mind it. Can't wait to order again soon!

Placed an order on a Monday via the Too Good To Go app for the next day, Tuesday. Drove 25 minutes to get the food within the hour time frame given. When I arrived, the parking lot was almost empty. I approached the door and set off the motion sensor, but the door was locked. After a minute, I saw somebody walking behind the glass door a knocked. They opened and explained I was there to pick up an order. Lady said they were closed. I inquired why then would there have been an order placed yesterday for today's pick up and lady said she would go and check back. After waiting 10+- minutes, nobody came back out. Wasted almost an hour travel time with the wait. Glad I avoided this place anyway, as it looked dingy and run down, plus the health inspector tag showed "okay", which is second lowest rating you can receive. Will definitely avoid this location in the future.

Mango Sticky Rice

This is the best Thai food we've had in town, I highly recommend it! Service was friendly, personable & so fast. The restaurant being in a house made it feel like a cute date night spot. We had the Penang curry (to die for), spicy pineapple curry (also delicious), mango sticky rice (perfect) & the best Thai iced tea. We will be back!

Menu

The food was amazing, the place is so cute, was even better is the service, so friendly I will definitely back thank you for everything!!

visited restaurant for a dine in meal.. was greeted by a friendly employee, and promptly seated.. my mom was my date... and we both were treated perfectly.. Food was very good.. and while eating between 3 different employees were checked on multiple times.. offering water as well as extra napkins and asked if we needed anything in addition.. most important food is one of the best i have had in the greater Seattle Tacoma as well as the East Side Bellevue and Issaquah areas.. I WILL GO BACK..

Young Coconut

Best Tom Kha I've ever had, best fried tofu pad see ew! And they have fresh young coconuts to drink/eat!

Delicious!

I've been coming here for the past three years and have never gotten a bad meal. What I love about their Pad Thai is it's never gummy or over-sauced. I've ordered the tofu and the chicken Pad Thai and they're both great. They also make an awesome Tom Kha. On a scale of 1 to 5, I usually order my food a 3. That said, one time it had to be close to a five and a half. The owners made it right and the next time my meal was on the house. I always get carry-out but the inside of the restaurant could use some sprucing up.

This is my go to Thai place when staying in SeaTac. They are super vegetarian friendly! I ordered the Tofu Cashew Nut, jasmine rice, and tofu fresh rolls. Everything was delicious!

They pre cook their tofu and it is hard as a brick! Very disappointing! I expect freshly prepared food items, not tofu bricks!

We got the usual Thai Fried Rice (chicken) and fried pork! Both was still as good as the first time we got it. We also wanted to try the tom yum and the combo chicken. It was the Hainanese chicken rice and the fried chicken (I forgot what it was called)... 1) the SAUCE that was added for the hainanese chicken was like crack. It was so good, and I forgot to ask him what it was! The rice was really soft and favorable. The fried chile. Was one the breadier side but was still amazing. We also tried the tom yum (with pork), which my partner really enjoyed. I thought it was on the sweeter side but he really loved it. I thought it was still really really good, and they didn't skimp out on the protein or Mushroom either. We'll definitely be back, and hopefully the mangos will be in season for mango sticky rice!

The Pad Thai was decent, felt like it was a little dry especially the chicken. I visited on Valentine's Day, and the vibe was lovely--they had vases with red roses on every table, which was a very sweet touch. Tips for your visit: Parking & Wait Times: The Southcenter area gets very crowded on weekends. I highly recommend coming for an early lunch or dinner. If you arrive before 6:00 PM, you can usually be seated right away without the long wait. Service: The staff is incredibly friendly, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and pleasant. What we ordered: Green Curry (with Tofu): We added a side of rice, and it was perfectly creamy. Special Ba Mee (with Chicken): Great texture and flavor. Phad Kee Mao (with Beef): Savory and satisfying. Spice Level: We chose a 3 out of 5, and it definitely has a nice kick! It's "properly spicy," so be prepared if you aren't a fan of heat. The portions were generous, and the taste was spot on. Highly recommended for anyone in the Tukwila area!

This was during a Saturday evening close to 6pm and I got in to a fine-dining and casual mashup of an interior, where lights hang above the booths. Service here was on point, and food came out within 10 or so minutes of ordering despite the place filling up fast sometime after placing our order. Overall, food quality was just okay. Breaking each one down: - Tom yum: the soup was far more sweet than it was salty or even sour. The balance among all three of these was uneven, and the condiments inside didn't help. - Papaya salad: overall dish didn't taste too fresh and was oddly sour. There wasn't any sort of flavor kick in it and just tasted like regular salad at times. - Thai basil fried rice: the dish oddly didn't come in as hot as the other two. Flavor profile was bland, and rice was dry and a little hard. From previous visits I would recommend their pad see ew, since I don't remember any other dishes I've gotten from here besides that. One of my friends also recommended their duck curry, so I'll give that a try on my next visit here when I can.
