Pretty slow for a Saturday night, only 2 tables were occupied but we waited to be seated. The floor was sticky all over, so that was kind of gross. The food in general was pretty good. We had our 2 young kids with us and because of that they assumed we wouldn't want anything spicy, which was not cool. We eat food with a little heat all the time. I came here a few times since 2005. Never left a review until Now. I maybe would get take out every five to six years. Not consistently. My first experience 17 years ago wasn't bad. Everything reminded me of when I lived in Thailand. A few times is stated dwindling in quality. But today was just ok. First I was not happy that when I orders moo yang I asked for Sirloin steak, instead I got pork. The mixed veggies the green beans were raw so difficult to chew. The egg plant is also hard to chew becuse it's not fully cooked, and the flavor seems off. It was never this bad before. I like supporting local mom and pop businesses, but I think I'm pretty much done coming here! When there are so many other Thai places I'm willing to even drive to Canada for. The last photo I posted was the food I ordered. I didn't show the yellow curry because too spicy for me because my hubby likes it 5 star spicy. So far most of our veggies are inedible. So not happy! If possible I would give 2.5 stars but will round up to 3 because they are better than 2. Met a friend here for lunch last Friday at 11:30a. We were the only ones other than one other couple. My friend ordered one of the lunch combo specials. Swimming Rama served with a spring roll, jasmine rice & Phad Thai. Definitely the best deal to go for a lunch combo I ordered an entree ginger chicken served only with jasmine rice for the same cost of my friends combo lunch. You might think my entree portion would be larger because I didn't get a spring roll & Phad Thai like she did but you'd be wrong. My entree portion size was disappointing. My favorite Thai place wasn't on DoorDash, and I didn't want to drive. So, we tried this place due to good reviews, and it was not good. It was awful! I took one bite of the pad Thai, which was slimy and tasted fishy. The spring roll was also slimy and very doughy and soft. I tossed this meal right into the trash- that was $60.00 wasted. They explained Covington store does not take online orders and only the Maple Valley store does. All verifications through grubhub showed order was through and being prepared by Covington store. This restaurant charged me more than what I wrote on the receipt. We orderrd 2 dishes and 1 rice. The total was $31ish. I usually tip with cash but I only had $5 with me so I tipped them $5 cash plus $2 on my credit card. That was more than 20%. Guess what? They changed my $2 tip to $6 tip. How is that legal? My suggestion for you is don't tip them at all!!! They don't deserve it after what they did. I'm sure they do that to othet custumers too. It's just a few bucks but it was STEALING! Before I get to the negative, I'll stress the positive. The food was good. Shrimp were a little small on the fresh rolls, and a lot of lettuce. Wings were crisp and tasty. The pork Pad Thai, my go to, was great. Now for the negative. I ordered from the link in Yelp using the Grubhub Checkout for a scheduled pick up. To my surprise I was questioned if I had placed my order. When I said I had placed it online, they went over to a tablet and said it was there and would be ready in 15 minutes. I hadn't been to Benjarong in a while since 2020. It had been looking tired inside and there was a chef change a few years ago so I stopped coming. But today, wow. Good stuff to report! They recently touched things up inside and did some revamping of the restaurant (new tables, pillows on chairs, corner seating, changed out some of their textiles). Very snazzy! They offered a thicker paper napkin and redid their menus. Nice jazz was playing in the background and the service was excellent. I ordered my usual and it was quite tasty. Ordered take out from this Thai place a week ago after my work shift. I was a bit confused where to go when I came in but went straight to the bar area to find a lady in the kitchen come out. She was kind and friendly. I ordered chicken pad thai with added mushrooms and it looked really yummy. After trying, I'd say it was okay tasting. I wasn't fan of how the chicken was very chewy. It can be confusing when looking this location or Maple Valley up, but there is a definite clear distinction between this one verse the one in Maple Valley. Besides the coziness and warm toned interior; this location boasts the best of dining between the two. We recently came here for dinner and I was blown away by the completely different quality in food. The server was very friendly and so polite when she sat us. We added four additional family members and they were quick to seat them when they arrived. The curry was so incredibly balanced! The burst of coconut milk that adds a delicious flavor when I began to get our order. The flavors are so distinct and they literally are the absolute best. I was so pleased with the quality of the meats as well. The cute mason jar cups with our soda added such a punch of flair to the table. Over all, this location is the best. Saturday 8/2/2014 I came in during lunch hour, was the only one, this place is dead as a door knob! The server did not greet. She just handed me the menu and pour my water, quite odd. She came back, took my order and was a little bit more chatty. I hope she doesn't mess up my order, otherwise I will be a sad panda =( Hmmmm...it's a Saturday afternoon and no one is coming. Thai food has a special place in my heart. I'm already bummed out that one Thai place already closed down, but it was also a blessing in disguises to find this place. I found this place on a meal delivery service. I ordered phad Thai and it was amazing. I am very picky about the sauce. I know a fraud when I see and taste one & this ain't it. My phad Thai needs to be hot and fresh off that wok, noodles needs to be Ooey gooey, the sauce needs to be that tamarind saucy not KETCHUP saucy ok? This checked off every box. kind of disappointed by my experience, I asked for a to go order of Tofu Pad Thai and after my wait I received Chicken Pad Thai.. the noodles looked so delicious and brown, it was just the chicken in it that was the problem. so when i got it swapped out for tofu, the noodles didn't look nearly as good as before. i don't know if the chicken makes noodles better, or they rushed on the redo, i just really wanted those flavorful brown noodles. my noodles now are kind of sticking together and more bland. also they wouldn't take my visa gift card, or whatever was left of my gift card for some tech reason. We went in to have dinner a few minutes ago and was ignored for a long time, standing by the bench at the entrance! We walked out after we couldn't stand it anymore! The waitress has seen us and the correct way was to say, " I will be with you in a few minutes ", instead of totally ignoring us! The Employees and Owner are extremely polite and service is quick. Inside is always clean and welcoming. The Keemao noodles tasted of charcoal, the eggplant pad prik was unevenly cooked. Sweet the sweet black rice pudding was closer to a rice soup than a pudding. The pad thai was delicious and so was the soup. The chicken on the other hand, was salty, not crispy, and tasted primarily of fish sauce. I was so offput by the flavor I cod only take a few bites. Best Thai food in Covington..... I've been eating at this restaurant for several years and been very happy with their food. Lately I've been having Crab fried rice. They have very good curry. Great Thai! Had pineapple fried rice with no onions and it was super good. Also, I went there on a date where we ended up talking for 2.5 hours, so they were very gracious to let us sit and talk. Staff was wearing masks, lots of take out orders going out with a good system, and staff made sure to seat us socially distant from one another which was cool. I will go back!! read more
