Upon pickup, they insisted on cash-only payment, despite the price change and my willingness to pay by card. I explained I didn't have sufficient cash due to the unexpected increase. They refused to RELEASE my boat or accept a card payment. I was forced to involve local law enforcement. When the sheriffs arrived, they confirmed that the business could not legally refuse card payment under these circumstances. Despite this, the staff and ownership were hostile, unprofessional. They have no transparency and raises legality of their billing practices. I would caution others before doing business here. Document everything.

While the restrooms were not in perfect condition, they were functional and the staff seemed to be working hard to keep things tidy. This minor detail didn't detract from the overall enjoyment of the visit. Campsite was very well fitted and was on the drier side. Not much shade from the sun so bring some cover. Staff comes around selling wood and ice which can come in handy if you run out, but plenty areas to go find wood The picnic areas and the rest of the park were well-kept, making for a pleasant and relaxing day. I'm looking forward to returning and experiencing more of what Lake Piru has to offer!

I bought beach seating for both years as it's the most affordable option while still being a vibe. Everything is on the pricey end here; the food and drinks are on the more expensive side and you're charged if you bring in your own drinks and snacks. Unfortunately, the experience this year wasn't as great as last year but that was due to the amount of bugs that were out. It wasn't anything that they could've controlled, but there was so many that it took away from the experience. We left before the movie even started because of how uncomfortable we were, and this is even with bug spray on. Overall, I'm not sure if I'd recommend coming here anymore. If it wasn't for the bugs, it could be a really fun experience, however, they're probably unpredictable and when they're out, there's A LOT out.

They showed the kids how the life jackets fit and then got 'em in the water to confirm to the kids that they were safe and comfortable. Then they let them loose on the boats. They had canoes and kayaks and stand up paddle boards and even has a dragon boat. They have a have a specific section of the lake designated for paddling but on the day we were there the guides let the kids loose on the entire lower lake. They loved it. The kids got some exercise and had a ton of fun and walked away happy and sore and a bit more confident in their watercraft skills. I've heard that the same options are available for adults but we had the misfortune of catching their very last session of the 2017 season so it looks like I'll have to sit on my hands and wait another 9 months to take a spin on that dragon boat. Too bad.

They also have a key to the bathroom, which is around the corner. Even though we were 20 minutes early, they let us get on the water bike after a quick instruction. Riding on the water bikes was really fun! We rode around the bay and the water was choppy sometimes but as you get inside the bay, the water is calmer. A trick is that if you feel the water is too choppy, start paddling - the water will calm down with the pedaling. There are several boats around which provided live music for us. The bike has two cup holders and a front container to put your phones and small stuff in. We had a great time. They share a parking lot with nearby restaurants which offer 3 hours of free parking. That is a huge plus for something near the beach! We will be back next time to try a glow ride.

Took my boat to Al two years ago. He redid my upholstery and carpet. He also did a service on the…read moreengine. Which included replacing the spark plugs. Recently, I took my boat to a mechanic who serviced the boat and said that Al had put in the wrong spark plugs. One of the cylinders came up below compression when it was checked. Also, when I initially picked up my boat, some of the seams on the upholstery did not match. I had to leave it with him to fix. Also, they broke the ice chest that was part of the original equipment of the boat. He tried to tell me that it was not him. I told him he was the only person that ever touched my boat. If you want your boat repaired with Al, be prepared to go back multiple times for touchups. I will never go back to him.
