I had a terrible experience with Roberto's Boat Repair. I paid approximately $5,000 for repairs, but the work was not done properly. Shortly afterward, my boat suffered a serious engine explosion while we were out on the lake. It was a terrifying experience that put both my safety and my family's safety at risk. After having the boat inspected, I was informed that a car starter had been installed instead of the required marine starter. I was also told this damaged the flywheel, resulting in even more costly repairs. When I contacted Roberto about these issues, he refused to correct the work or provide any refund. After spending thousands of dollars, I was left with an unsafe boat and significant additional repair expenses. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Roberto's Boat Repair. I would strongly encourage others to thoroughly verify any repairs and seek a second opinion before trusting this shop with their boat. read more

I recently purchased a used 2012 Bayliner 175 and they had this boat up and running in no time. After 11 days on the lake it ran without any issues and far exceeded my expectations. I have an older runabout with a two stroke outboard. It's not glamorous nor new and shiny. It's basically a fun toy. When I pulled into Roberto's lot, I was almost ashamed when I saw the really nice boats there. But you know what? I was treated just as well as the guy with the $100k+ boat. Their chill vibe belies their honest work ethic. There's no pressure to get unnecessary repairs done. You want to be able to take in the lake for the season, no problem. Well I was launching and noticed I had a bearing issue on my trailer so I went fishing for a couple hours to think about how to get home. I was in the middle of the lake and called "the other boat repair shop" and they said 2 weeks maybe. The problem was I could not put my boat back on the trailer the bearings were that bad. I called Roberto's and he said leave the boat at the dock and come down the hill slowly. So I did. His worker, an older man got right on it. He had to heat the bearings up because they were seized on the spindle but after around 2hr later it was done. $275.00 i was glad to pay this since I was stuck and I thought it was a fair price. The older man that did it knew what he was doing. A big thanks to you Roberto you saved me a major headache and got me home. read more

I needed some fiberglass work done to my Sea Ray. Roberto was extremely helpful and filled me in on all the details on what needed to be done. He has a great relationship with the insurance company (Progressive) and worked with them to get the job done quickly and thoroughly. I also discovered that they have VERY reasonable boat storage prices. I email his son Jose and it's SO easy to pick up and drop off the boat - they'll even park it in the space for you! I believe in second chances, except when I find out I was robbed for work never performed OR improperly performed, that I had redo over again after 3-4 outings with the boat. It cost me close to 6k extra to correct their mistakes and redo what they supposedly did. Bellows were never replaced, took in water, and bye bye u-joint and gimbal bearing. None of the parts seemed recently replaced, after tear down. I never ask for discounts or how much. I ask for honesty, good work, straight forward business, firm handshakes, and words that don't bend. I got none here, and I paid hard earned money. I chose to write this review to warn fellow boaters to avoid the headache, blow their money away on other things rather than handing it to this facility full of unprofessional people, giving mechanics bad reputation with their attitude and bad business ethics, along with carelessness. Terrible service. Couldn't repair a boat correctly. 5 min into the water and $2700 down the drain for over heating. When called to address the issue the man on the other side of the phone was yelling talking over me and being extremely rude. Told him we have a family trip planned and told me that wasn't his problem. Asked us to take the boat back to him which he knows we couldn't do because the bearings they were supposed to replace were not tight enough to drive on the freeway, again same response, not his problem. When we asked if he could send someone out to us he said he couldn't take the time to do that. Started to complain about me not having the money to repair the boat and if I wanted free stuff to just ask him. I run a business as well and management skills are a must. read more

Three times we were at the lake and all three times we never made it past the loading dock!!! I was all set for a day on the lake, but my boat had other plans. Got the thing in the lake, and the engine wouldn't start. Anyone who's experienced this knows the frustration; especially when taking the entire family (wife and kids)! I'm no mechanic, so I'm basically dead in the water (pun intended). As we started our way home, we passed by Roberto's Boat Repair, and my wife suggested we stop in. Best suggestion ever! Roberto was working on another boat as we pulled up, but had no issues stepping away to figure out what was going on with mine. After hearing me gripe for a few minutes, he started to give me his thoughts. Here's what separates Roberto from others (in my opinion): he could have easily provided me with a best-guess diagnosis and sent me on my way, but he didn't. He pulled off the engine cover and tinkered around a little bit. Then, pulled out the battery charger and tinkered some more. Then continued to work on it for the next 15 mins to get a better idea of what was going on. I was floored by his willingness to help, and needless to say, ended up leaving my boat with him to get repaired. Here's where it gets better: he went down the path of solving for one issue, but called me when he discovered it was something less costly (who does that?!?). When I picked up the boat, Roberto ran through everything he did to get it working, and even gave me some tidbits on how to keep it running in tip-top shape. As long as I have a boat, Roberto will be my guy (BTW, his entire staff seems to be as helpful as he is)! read more

I had friends recommend Roberto's Boat Repair after they had positive experiences there. I needed some carpet runners for the boat's pilot house pathway and liked that work so much that I got a bid for a boat cover. My boat is a tall, 25' pilot house with a folding tuna tower. This presented several challenges. The bid came in less than other bids that I had received so I decided to pull the trigger and go for it. I couldn't be happier! The attention to detail and thought that was put in to the cover was amazing! There was extra material added to stress points on the tower and cleats around the transom. The other bids that I had were for a one piece cover that would have made putting the cover on very difficult. This cover is a two piece cover. It took me less than 15 minutes to put the cover on the first time. I would highly recommend Roberto's for any upholstery work. I will probably bring my boat there for routine maintenance as well but I have no track record with them yet regarding that kind of stuff so I'll reserve a review for now on that. read more

If you need your boat repaired or stored... DON'T USE ROBERTO'S BOAT REPAIRS AND STORAGE!!! Roberto agreed to service and tune my boat in two weeks, and it took two months, to the day. If that's not bad enough, my boat was badly scratched in multiple areas, and he said it wasn't done by him... it is obvious that they are new scratches. He has very little room on his lot and the workers are consistently moving boats around on fork lifts, obviously hitting and scratching other boats while doing so. There are new scratches ALL over my boat that were NOT there when I dropped it off. He claimed the boat was in the same location the entire 2 months he had it, which is not true as I drove by the lot multiple times and could see my boat in various locations throughout the duration of my boat being in his possession. He attempted to re-paint his scratches with paint that did not even match the color below and left paint spray all over the boat... didn't even bother cleaning up the paint mess. The boat tie-rod connecting the jet nozzles were badly bent and he said that was supposed to be that way. I insisted that we look at another boat to compare, and found the tie-rod to be straight as an arrow. Roberto's credibility went out the door at this point. It was visibly clear one jet nozzle was pointing one direction and the other was pointing in an opposing direction. Roberto's worker straightened the tie-rod and proceeded to break the jet nozzle reverse bucket (see photo), and claimed "that was the way it was," refusing to fix it. Roberto replaced the boat battery and left out the hold down bracket, and said that I must have left it out. The new battery was only held in by the cables, with the battery left laying unsecured on the engine compartment floor. Roberto attempted to repaint the scratches in the hull and left paint spatter all over the hull, boat trailer, crank, (see photos)... what a mess! He told me he'd clean my boat "to make it look brand new" and I got it back with dirt, spiders, and leaves... see photos. He also told me he put a new filter in my boat... there is no new filter; just the old one that was in there when I gave him my boat to work on...one more promise he made and didn't follow through with. Roberto makes excuses for everything and does not take responsibility for anything! Roberto has more excuses than there are minutes in a day, and you certainly don't have a lifetime to listen to all of them, or money to pay for his substandard and shoddy work! DO NOT BOTHER USING THIS COMPANY OR PERSON... UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR BOAT TO BE THERE FOR MONTHS FOR MINOR REPAIRS, SCRATCHES ALL OVER YOUR BOAT, EXCUSES GALORE, AND BROKEN PARTS THAT THEY WONT ADMIT TO!!!!! read more

Based on the positive reviews on yelp, I chose to take my boat to have fiberglass repair and service. The shop was pretty busy when I met with Roberto the owner. He took the time to go over the repair and suggested the 20 hour service along with replacement of the impeller. When I picked up the boat, you couldn't tell it had been damaged, they showed me the old impeller and the cracks that were forming which eventually would break. I waited to post a review until after I took the boat out and sure enough she ran great. Good service at a reasonable price. read more

I had high hopes for this place but was let down. I pulled my boat out of the water to have it checked out because I suspected a possible fuel leak. I asked Jose to do a complete check on all the other systems too. Jose called me and said the fuel system was pressure tested and no leaks were found. He said the rest of the boat checked out fine...but recommended I change the throttle cable boot at some point. He said it wasn't cracked but it would be a good idea to change it at some point. He made one last comment tho. He said "you might want to change the seawater impeller at some point too". I picked up the boat and drove it home. Just so you know... prior to going to Roberto's I used the boat through the summer and into the fall. I never had any issues with overheating and the temperature was always in the normal level. One weekend I was getting ready to take it out in the ocean so I hooked it up to the outdrive hose adapter and ran water into it. Once I started it a couple minutes later the high engine temperature alarm went off. The engine temperature was too high so I shut off the engine. On my boat there are two ways for water to enter the engine: one is through the outdrive, and the other is a port under the boat. The port under the boat has a ball valve just inside the hull that needs to be in the closed position when you're hooked up with the hose adapter on the outdrive, otherwise the water just drains below the boat since both lines come together inside the hull. If you don't close this ball valve the water never reaches the water pump attached to the engine, thus no water cools the engine. Essentially the water pump runs dry. I felt I should put the boat on the water and see if having both water sources (outdrive and seawater port) would clear the overheating. A couple minutes later after starting the engine it overheated. I looked into the seawater strainer and no water was flowing through it; that told me the impeller was not drawing in water. I brought the boat back home to pull the impeller out. What I found was the impeller was destroyed from being run dry. What upsets me is that I wasn't told they accidentally damaged the impeller and offered to replace it. Instead they told me they recommended having it changed...at my expense. I wouldn't have minded paying them to replace it, but after they damaged it I would have rather they just own up to it and be honest about it. Jose my not have been made aware of it by the mechanic, but if that's the case the mechanic should have been truthful about having damage the impeller. Who knows who was not being honest, but that just makes me question their honesty. The boat runs fine now. read more

If I could give this place NO STARS I would. I took my boat to Roberto's MAY 2nd after they told us it would be about a 2 week turn around. After numerous "I'll call you backs" (its been 3 weeks I'm still waiting for a call back..) we would call and get a difference response every time. "the boat is done with the work just waiting on the upholstery right now" "the upholstery is being delayed" "the upholstery shipment got lost". THREE WEEKS LATER we ended up just showing up, they hadn't even taken one look at my boat. I understand that shipping is delayed due to COVID-19, but for them to BS me every single time we called "the boat will be ready by Thursday at the latest my friend! we finished the boat work we are waiting on the upholstery" All I ask if for them to be straight up and honest. We were hoping this place would be great after reading the reviews, turns out it was just a bunch of BS'rs. I DEF. will never take my boat back to Roberto's BOAT STORAGE. I have been using Jose and Roberto's service on my 94' 481vs ranger for a few years now after a handful of issues that cost me big money with another shop. They helped me out big time when I made a rookie mistake and melted my old power head a few years ago. Now I have been running strong on the water 2-3 days a week ever since going to them and changing my repair shop. It's worth the extra drive even if your not local to the area. They are more reasonable and honest than any other mechanic service I've ever used in my life and I feel like they have become my friends in the process. Nice enough guys but after a few experiences I began to get worry about a lack of attention to detail in their work. My suspicions were confirmed when I was in the office discussing service one day and they let a call roll over to the answering machine, and another customer was livid because they had left the oil plug out after an oil change and the engine overheated, they said he must have been confused but I'd seen enough. After allegedly changing my impeller at the end of last season, my boat overheated, and by this time I had a new (much better and honest) shop, who told me I needed the impeller replaced. I asked how could it fail so soon with no more than 20 hours on it, and they told me based on the appearance of the impeller, there was no way it had been replaced or even refurbished anytime recently. Also, they "replaced" my gas tank sender unit since the gas gauge wasn't reading correctly, although it never fixed the problem. New mechanic diagnosed the problem correctly after actually replacing the sending unit, which was the original one from the factory, that Roberto's had charged me to replace and never actually touched. After calling Roberto's ask for refunds on the service that was never performed and parts that were never installed, I was told they'd check my file and call me back, which to nobody's surprise they never have. If you have tons of money and time to waste and enjoy being lied to, then Roberto's is the shop for you. But if you work for a living like me and appreciate honesty, AVOID ROBERTO's AT ALL COST! read more

I brought my boat there to look for leaks and replace impeller, they said they took on the lake and couldn't find any.. Well they charged me for the lake fee and never took on the water. My prop and rudder were in the same exact place as I left it, I know this cuz I have my shaft marked so my prop has room on trailer guard.. Needless to say I still have a leak and my boat runs hotter than before the impeller change.. Plus it rained while it was there and the drain plug was still in where I left it thinking they would take it out after they put it in the water so my engine compartment was filled to the top with water and now my auto bilge isn't working. Total joke, thought I'd try a new place so the search for a GOOD boat repair place is still ongoing. read more
