Upon pickup, they insisted on cash-only payment, despite the price change and my willingness to pay by card. I explained I didn't have sufficient cash due to the unexpected increase. They refused to RELEASE my boat or accept a card payment. I was forced to involve local law enforcement. When the sheriffs arrived, they confirmed that the business could not legally refuse card payment under these circumstances. Despite this, the staff and ownership were hostile, unprofessional. They have no transparency and raises legality of their billing practices. I would caution others before doing business here. Document everything.

I had a terrible experience with Roberto's Boat Repair. I paid approximately $5,000 for repairs,…read morebut the work was not done properly. Shortly afterward, my boat suffered a serious engine explosion while we were out on the lake. It was a terrifying experience that put both my safety and my family's safety at risk. After having the boat inspected, I was informed that a car starter had been installed instead of the required marine starter. I was also told this damaged the flywheel, resulting in even more costly repairs. When I contacted Roberto about these issues, he refused to correct the work or provide any refund. After spending thousands of dollars, I was left with an unsafe boat and significant additional repair expenses. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Roberto's Boat Repair. I would strongly encourage others to thoroughly verify any repairs and seek a second opinion before trusting this shop with their boat.

Update after the owner's response:…read more Your reply only makes this situation worse. You are now trying to present this as a "misunderstanding" and claim the appointment was for April 28. That is simply not credible. When I called, I clearly asked for the earliest possible appointment. There is absolutely no reason I would agree to wait an entire month for a boat motor issue -- especially in the middle of the fishing season. That makes zero sense, and you know it. For anyone reading this: I was actively looking to get my boat serviced immediately. After leaving your closed shop, I found another marine service nearby that accepted my boat the same day and started work. That alone proves the urgency and completely contradicts your version of events. What actually happened is simple: - You confirmed 8:00 AM - You did not show up - You did not answer calls - And now you are trying to rewrite the situation Instead of taking responsibility, you are attempting to shift blame onto the customer and make it look like this was my mistake. That is not just unprofessional -- it's dishonest. What's even more concerning is that you know exactly what happened, yet you still chose to post a misleading response publicly in an attempt to discredit me and soften the impact of the review. That behavior creates even more distrust than the original issue. This was not a scheduling mix-up. It was a complete failure to show up, communicate, or take accountability -- followed by an attempt to distort the facts.

Recently, I took my boat to a mechanic who serviced the boat and said that Al had put in the wrong spark plugs. One of the cylinders came up below compression when it was checked. Also, they broke the ice chest that was part of the original equipment of the boat. He tried to tell me that it was not him. I told him he was the only person that ever touched my boat.
