My husband had gone a few times to look at boats and compare and get quotes, and met with Matt every time. He said Matt was patient, not pushy at all, and really answered whatever questions my husband had every single time he went in there. My husband would bring all this info back to me. I went for the first time on 5/18 to actually look at the boats my husband had his eyes on. Matt wasn't there, but today we went again, and I met Matt, and he was all my husband said. I had my boat worked on at boat country in Ripon . Absolute horrible experience . 5 weeks to change a tower and the camera didn't work up in the tower . Brought it back for a coolant problem they said there was no problem other than it being low on radiant fluid . They said they burped the system added fluid and charged me $350 . This boat is still under warranty . Should not have been charged . Called them back they said they couldn't get to me till the end of August . Called up Galey's Marine they got me in right away . Jeff the service manager is an awesome person to deal with met their mechanic another great person . Could not brag enough on what a awesome company this place is . Even though I have to drive 6 hours to get to them they will be my go-to people . Couldn't brag enough on how well they took care of us . I had spoken with Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga and a dealer in San Diego. they both had a great price, but I decided to drive an hour and a half to Bakersfield? Let me say that I am sure glad that I did. This is a family run business for over 50 years and I appreciate that. Steve and the crew at Galley's was worth the drive. we dropped off our Tiga for some much needed repairs. Having had the same repair done two years ago by a Fresno Company. Unfortunately it was not completed properly And needed to be done again. The price was much lower than the Fresno company. We opted for the complete boat and trailer detail as well. Being as we saved on the repair. When we first saw our boat, I could not believe how great it looked. For a 8 year old boat that gets a lot of use, it truly looked factory fresh, minus the scratches and dings from normal wear and tear. Next was on the lake... Wow, what a difference. After the steering cables were replaced and properly set up, it is a dream to drive. Having lived in Bakersfield all my life, I missed out by not having them do my boat work. Our boat which sits in a private lake (Pinewood Lake) had a coating of scum on the hull which made it necessary to remove it from the lake and take it for a detail. The scum comes from poor maintenance of the lake but unfortunately our homeowners association doesn't seem to care. Galey's worked on it several hours and finally got most of it removed by using a pressure washer. What I didn't like about the detail job was that they did no polishing or waxing. When I asked why It wasn't shined, I was told that plastic polish does not last so they didn't put it on. I have since been told by other sources that was not true. I didn't make a fuss about it because the $250 they charged me seemed to be fair due to the difficult time they had getting the scum off the hull. read more

We've had nothing but shoddy work from them. Every time we have had it in their shop, it doesn't even make a day on lake buenavista before it breaks down and leaves you stranded. Their service department has yet to give us the boat back and it be fixed right. We have had 4000 in parts and labor in a year. Their service people have been absolutely rude to me and my husband Scott. He's a disabled veteran, no respect shown to him. They have been asked repeatedly to make it sea worthy and they haven't done it yet. One service person told us not to put the plug in and sink it so the insurance would pay for it. No integrity at all in them. After the last so called repair we ended up with a broken fuel filler hose we took it back and was told it didn't happen in their mechanic shop. It wasn't broken before it went in? We also showed Jeff the outdrive was moving back and forth a lot and he said that it was removed when they pulled the engine out. Then told it wasn't taken out when they pulled engine but was told differently by the general manager Their forklift driver gouges outdrive the they defaced in their shop with indelible ink. He followed up and informed us the sale can be completed thru their webpage and vIa email. It was very easy and fast. We tried to list our boat on consignment with Galey's and agreed on an amount to sell it for. After not hearing from Galey's for over a week, we contacted them where they said they were going to sell it for less than agreed upon amount. While we were fine with the new amount, we told them we were unhappy with the changes being made and lack of customer service and communication. We were under the impression the boat was already up for sale at this point. Steve, the man we dealt with was incredibly rude and told us to "just come pick up the boat if we were that unhappy". We told him we were fine with the amount just unsure of the changes. He said he would call back. He did not, so we called back 2 days later where we were told that they do not want to risk upsetting us even more (we were not upset, just confused) so we needed to come get the boat. The customer service with Galey's has been nothing but rude and unprofessional. Upon this incident we have spoken with several people who have also had awful customer service experiences with Galey's employees and would rather travel than to deal with Galey's. Upon Don Galey's son taking over the business it has gone substantially down hill. read more

Service has gone way downhill. We are 20 year customers, but now will go elsewhere. Our boat interior came back FILTHY! Greasy handprints all over the steering wheel, the cream colored vinyl seats, cushions, engine cover and the deck. Greasy footprints on the carpeted floor (we never wear shoes in the boat) which took me an hour to remove with a carpet cleaning machine. We had taken our boat in for prop trim gauge not working and other minor issues. We were shown wires on the right side of prop frayed. The invoice showed "repaired". We discovered they only fixed similar wires on the left side, not touching the right side. Trim gauge still not working. Researched online and fixed the right side wires myself. Trim gauge now working. After talking to the manager today all he said is "sorry, I'll talk to the mechanic." And, nobody was wearing masks inside when I went in to pay. When questioned, they said "We don't believe in it!" Well, we no longer believe in Galey's. read more

So I had a 24' boat there for 3 weeks (mind I say peak season so that expected) but I go to check on it and the boat was not done (they said it was done) and looked horrible. For the price there charging u think it would be a excellent job with a even wax job. I could have done as good as them or better, very dissatisfied with the service they did, they did knock off some of the price (that why there getting 2 stars and not one) but I was so mad that I didn't want them to touch it anymore. This is the second and last time I try the service department there. Customer service is great, parts department is great and show room is great. But behind the doors is horrible. They should have thrown a bottle a wax with the deal so I could finish it. For big jobs I would go somewhere else period. read more

I can't speak highly enough of the extraordinary help we received from Galey's. We were passing through town late in the afternoon on a Saturday and our boat trailer pretty much exploded an outer bearing. We called all over town asking for help and some were just simply rude. I called Galey's and Cheryl was absolutely wonderful and kind. She said "don't worry we'll help you out. Just get here and we'll get you on the road". When I got there Cheryl had folks in the service shop ready to go. George and Mark walked me through the parts and got me what I needed. Carlos spent the time to get me going and also did a little extra service (checked my tires, etc....) and sent me on my way. They simply saved our big boat trip and I can't thank them enough. I went in the first time and the owner greeted me and was very helpful and the floor sales guy assisting him was very nice I was unsure about which boat I wanted so I left and did some research I went back today to finalize the purchase and the floor guy was so rude telling me he couldn't honor the deal the owner had offered me that the owner didn't know what he was talking about and was wrong he stated he's just the owner he doesn't know anything about sales I brought up that another sales guy has also been with us and he followed by saying he also didn't know anything apparently no one that works here knows anything besides the rude guy who was now there. The owner of this place just lost a boat sale due to the rudeness of his employee I am writing this in hopes the owner I spoke with sees this since if this was my business I would want to know.
