Chi Cha San Chen is a Taiwanese boba chain that utilizes a patented "teapresso" machine to freshly…read morebrew premium teas for their drinks. I've visited many times and have been impressed with the consistency of both the tea and boba. My go-tos are the Cassia Black Tea, Dong Ding Oolong Tea, and Green Tea, all with Cream and Bubble. I typically order their drinks with less lce and light sugar, which have been perfect for me. Their fruit teas are also delicious, although I would definitely recommend reducing the sugar level to allow the tea flavor to shine through. The size of their drinks is also perfect for me; large enough to enjoy but small enough to not be overwhelming. At this location you can order at the kiosk or at the cashier, which helps to expedite the line especially when it gets busy. You could consider studying here, especially with its notably large tables, however seating is limited and it can get loud during rush hour. I would highly recommend Chi Cha San Chen, especially if you've never tried a high-quality, tea-forward milk or fruit tea.

I'm happy to say that the quality did not disappoint! What I love about CHICHA San Chen is that each drink is freshly brewed to order. Rather than preparing large batches of tea ahead of time, the tea is brewed individually when you place your order using their signature tea-press technology. You can really taste the difference--the tea is fragrant, fresh, and flavorful. My absolute favorite is the King Bubble Black Tea with Cream. The combination of the rich black tea, creamy topping, and chewy king pearls is just SO good! I was also pleasantly surprised that the Houston location still offers the Taro Series. The taro drinks are another favorite of mine, and it's wonderful to see that Houston has kept this part of the menu. After visiting CHICHA San Chen in different places, I can honestly say that Houston holds up beautifully. The tea quality, fresh preparation, and overall experience are exactly what I have come to expect from the brand. CHICHA San Chen never fails to deliver! If you're a serious tea or boba lover, this is definitely worth a visit.

Parking situation is subpar in their large parking lot, one of the downsides of this plaza. It's always a pain parking to visit any restaurants in between Yale and Heights. Anyways, the interior is fairly clean and modern, the menu is small and concise and the staff of two worked hard to get drinks made quickly. I enjoyed my matcha brown sugar drink (with boba and matcha pudding). The boba had really nice texture and the matcha was also fairly heavy. I got oat milk with mine, which is nice that they're not using whole milk or milk powder. Most of the drinks are in the $6-7 range, which again is fairly standard for the nicer boba spots. It's a nice boba tea option for the Heights!

I got the brown sugar boba creme burlee milk, which was pretty tasty, it comes with boba and creme brulee, which is a nice custard. Big fan of the boba, just the right level of chewiness. Bonus is the option of oat and soy milk in addition to organic milk. I can attest to them handwhisking the matcha, and they measure out the proportions to get it right each time. Definitely worth giving them a shot and supporting local, plus for the next 1-2 months they're doing 50% off (physical coupon needed for December, just pick one up!)

Nut allergy friendly, no issues here…read more Recommend to check the Order Online to get a full sense of their menu and what they can do. Plenty of parking, huge strip mall. Arrived at 9:18PM. Ordered a large double coconut with mango pearls and Oreo foam (friend's order) and a large oolong milk tea with 30% sweetness and boba (my order). Drinks out in four minutes or so and I was the only one there. The large Oolong tea was okay. Decent tea flavor (3/5). Boba was a little too stiff for my liking (2.5/5). Friend thought the double coconut was okay. The Oreo foam is actually just Oreo crumbles on top of foam, I think, so that was a bit disappointing. Overall, happy that there are finally some boba options in the Heights but it's an average spot that doesn't stand out from other independent boba spots.

The drink itself was incredibly mediocre honestly, it tasted like something I could have made at home. For nearly $8 (adding boba is extra ), I expected a lot more depth of flavor and quality. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't worth the price point. What really threw me off, though, was the smell inside the store. I had planned to sit down and get some work done, but I couldn't stay. There was a very odd, funky odor -- almost like when clothes sit in the washing machine too long and start to sour. I'm not sure what it was, but it was strong enough to be distracting and pretty off-putting. Overall, between the bland drink and the unpleasant atmosphere, this location missed the mark. I hope they address the cleanliness issue because the experience just didn't justify the cost.
