Family favorite and have been enjoying the friendly staff and great comfort food for years.

Last night we ate here and it was good. Not the best I have had but good. The wonton soup was horrible though the noodle was not cooked at all. There is nothing worse than hard pasta in a soup. But I have to say the magolian beef was so so good. I give that a 5 star rating. I would go back for that any day. My husband had the chicken chow mein and he said it was really good. The service was ok but they were so nice it didn't bother me. I would go back when I am in the area but not worth driving from spanaway for. I am just so dissapointed in the soup that is half the reason I want chinese food. read more

We went on a Friday evening and there were maybe 4 other people. We hadn't even finished our bbq pork and all but one other dish was put on the table. Wow, inexperienced wait staff right there. The chow mein was a stir fried mess with very little vegetables. It was done in a stir fry sauce and most of it was uncooked noodles. We couldn't even eat that. Thank goodness at least the sweet and sour pork resembled something we recognized. The chicken and broccoli, meh. And the tea! You would think that a restaurant that is named Tea Leaf would at least brew the tea right. It was mostly water. Seriously, it was barely a change in color. We paid nearly 40 dollars and were there maybe 20 minutes. Not a good experience dining out for that price. If you are looking for a nice dinner out it is not here. read more

I eat Mongolian beaf at every single Chinese food place I stop at, I guess I like the sfuff. I am always surprised at each cooks intepretation of what Mongolian beaf should taste like. The Tea Leaf is my favorite by far and I have come to measure all other eateries by their recipe. I ate here as a kid, during college and now I take my family. The owners are the nicest folks, they take time to get to know my kids and are really honest, decent people. I have never been more satisfied that when I eat here, they are not cheap but the food is good and the service is pretty fast. I am in love with their egg drop soup and suck it down in about 10 seconds. I am moving and I pray I find a place half as good as this in my new hometown. I do agree with some of the other reviewers, I never have quite figured out why the tables are so sticky but I don't really care and neither do the dozens of people I see in there every single day. read more

First time visiting and so not impressed. Busy but not overwhelming so, however looked like only two workers in the place. Stood at the register area for ten minutes before being seated (actually before being acknowledged), and then my family of 3 was taken to the large party room area with long tables and it had a couple large and loud groups right next to us. There were plenty of booths/tables in the other seating area but none were bussed yet. We sat waiting for drinks, food, or anything really for 20 minutes. Yes, 20 minutes. Nothing. Nothing but a bunch of kids running around crazy and lazy parents letting them. Got up and left and staff gave a weak " sorry " as we left. Went across the street to happy teriyaki which was much quieter, fast service, plenty of good food and some espn to boot. Must have hit this place when the flu bug took out all their staff i guess. This was some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had -- worse than mall food courts, worse than Safeway, worse than all you can eat buffets. We got General Tso's chicken, which was rubbery and strangely flavored. Pork fried rice was bland. The vegetable dish tasted like pure oyster sauce. Bleh. read more

Went there last night for dinner and it was AMAZING. We had the Mongolian beef, the sweet and sour chicken and the chow mien. It was really fantastic. It's a little bit dated on the inside with red vinyl booths but it was quiet. Staff was friendly and courteous to us the entire time. Cannot wait to go back! read more

My husband's family are regulars at the Tea Leaf, and I'm so glad they introduced it to me! I have brought friends and my own family. The waitress is always very kind and service is quick. My very favorites are their Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken, and the pork fried rice. I'm also in love with their egg rolls, and I am particular about my egg rolls! Thanks Tea Leaf! read more

Minus two stars for $13 selling me what they call Mu Shu Pork, which had almost no pork, and almost nothing else that it should have had. I paid for peas/bean sprouts/egg and what was either very poor commercial Mandarin pancakes or tortillas. read more

I had gone to Tea Leaf a few years ago, but thought I'd give it another try this evening. The parking lot was full, which is a good sign: lots of people, therefore the food must be good. The three of us ordered the Mongolian beef, fried rice, chicken and noodles and orange chicken. I have had Chinese food in Seattle, Vancouver, Hawaii and San Francisco, which I have enjoyed immensely and perhaps spoiled me with the savory tastes of Chinese cuisine. Tea Leaf was a huge disappointment: the food was extremely salty (I'm hoping it was not MSG), the orange chicken not tasty at all. And to top it off the hot tea was not even hot. I should have asked if the cooks were Chinese. One star is being generous. read more

My kids, ages 3 and 6, love this place as do my husband and I. And now they deliver in our area! I have tried several Chinese American restaurants in the area and none have been as good as Tea Leaf. The customer service is always exceptional. I believe the owner serves us every time and began remembering us after the first visit. The sweet and sour chicken/pork is my favorite and I'm pretty picky about what kind of sauce I like. It's not the runny, watery bright red kind which I can't stand. The restaurant is clean and the menu has a wide array of foods to choose from. We really enjoy the soups and have yet to find a food we don't like. read more

This place is the best chinese food in lacey/olympia. It's been owned and operated by the same family since i was a little kid. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's worth checking out. The flavors are great and portions will fill you up. read more

I NEVER write bad reviews, for anyone. I'm a very forgiving person. Paying $60 for the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life is where I draw the line. I am not a wealthy person, but wanted to treat me and my boyfriend on this snow day--so we got delivery. Sixty dollars of Chinese delivery that I had to talk myself into ordering. It was going to be our one splurge. The food arrived in a timely manner...and it went downhill from there. The "Mandarin Chicken" tasted only like salt. So did the "crunchy" Chow Mein. The Sweet and Sour Pork ALMOST tasted like sweet and sour....almost. Also there were peas in the S&S Pork, so that was fucking weird. I am just so upset because I blew $60 on something that was supposed to feel like a special treat, and now I can't afford to do anything out of the ordinary for a couple weeks. After looking long and hard for a good Chinese restaurant in Oly/Lacey, I think this one is my favorite. The service is friendly, the food comes out quickly, and the flavors are really good. The first time I went here, I got the General Tso's chicken. Good flavor and not as breaded as many places have it. Excellent. Last time I got the Combination Meal B - it had cashew chicken, sweet and sour pork, rice, chow mein, and egg roll. I would not do the combination meals again. The plate was mainly rice and chow mein. I felt it was rather skimpy on the cashew chicken and sweet and sour pork. But I did enjoy all the flavors. I'll be back, but I'll skip on the Combo Meals. My husband and I decided we needed to find ourselves a good Chinese restaurant to satisfy our cravings after moving to the area just over a year ago. I searched Yelp and was counting on the good reviews to guide us. It's our anniversary today and we wanted to enjoy a good meal...nothing fancy (after 37 years we are not needing anything fancy in order to celebrate our years together). The restaurant is very clean and presentable, nothing fancy, but very comfortable. We were greeted & seated right away...our tea arrived to us soon after. Our order included Sweet & Sour Pork, and Broccolli beef in Black Bean sauce. Both came with rice and Egg Flower Soup. The soup was WONDERFUL...not your basic broth with a junk of Tofu...SO many veggies. It was so yummy. Then our meals...each was fantastic. Not too much, but enough. Nothing swimming is sauce...just the right amount. We ate it ALL and couldn't stop commenting on how delicious it all was! The wait staff were extremely accommodating. I've been eating at Tea Leaf since they were located in downtown Olympia, a long time ago--25 years? Maybe 30?? I always order Pea Pod Chicken, which I consider delicious. I also love their appetizer soup with the bean sprouts, spinach and chicken. Prices are definitely higher than they used to be, but they are everywhere, even McDonald's. Like another reviewer, I would welcome more Chinese restaurants in the community. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the huge platter brought out just for my meal. It was very satisfying. The service was so quick, the food hot and looked like it had just come right off the grill. I love this place! I've been going there since I was a teenager. I always go for their lunch special. Reasonable price, great variety--soup for starters (you'll wanna lick the bowl) followed by rice, potsticker/egg roll, two meat dishes, and their amazing chow mein. When my whole family comes into town for the holidays we reserve their large room and have a feast. It's the best. Bring your kids, they'll treat them like royalty. The owner/waitress would even hold my babies. Now their all grown up and every time we pass the place they scream to stop. Don't judge your experience on orange chicken or fried rice. Our "go-to" place for Chinese food. Warm, family run atmosphere. You can tell the soup broth is made from the real chickens they use for the food. Good Mongolian beef and almond chicken.
