Then came the scallops, seared to that perfect crusty-on-the-outside, butter-soft-inside finish, sitting in risotto with bacon and crisp green apple for a sweet-tart snap. Genuinely one of the best scallop dishes I've had on-island. The cocktail program deserves a shoutout too, mine came dark, moody, and dressed with a little flower garnish from Bridget's garden that made it look like it belonged in a much more expensive bar tab. The tasting menu ($115, four courses, MV-sourced ingredients) is a commitment but if you want a proper date-night splurge, this is the move. Only knock: it's a destination, not a walk-by, so plan the drive and maybe a reservation. Would go back just for the scallops and oysters alone. I am lucky enough to be able to ride my bike here!!

Without hesitation I would recommend Lambert's Cove Inn for your special event!

Dozens of people at the wedding came up to us and told us that the food was the best wedding food they had ever had. Shawn provided passed appetizers, a stationary appetizer table, and drinks in addition to the main meal, which we did buffet style. The main course included an incredible roasted vegetable lasagna, baked salmon with sorrel aioli, roasted broccolini with red onion, parsley, olive oil and tamari, a kale salad, a light brown rice with toasted pistachios currants, dill, chives and a vinaigrette. We bought our own wine and beer, which Shawn's crew poured for guests. Shawn is also much more affordable than many of the other Island caterers. We could not have asked for, or found, a more wonderful caterer.

Counter service was friendly. Cons: The bulk of the seating is basically one long table with one side against the wall. Love the idea of shared seating but it's awkward to sit down when you have to scootch behind other diners chairs. Feels very boxed in on that side. My biggest complaint, though, was the wait for the food. They do have a sign on the register asking for patience, but we waited almost 45 minutes for a couple of sandwiches and a Caesar salad. There were only a few other patrons there when we arrived so it wasn't slammed. I would definitely go back if they can fix the speed of orders coming out. If you want to hang out and not in a hurry, it's a nice vibe.

The only issue my wife and I had staying in the Roxanne is that we could hear guests above us from time to time and when guests went up and down stairs. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. If you…read moreare disabled or have mobility issues, you also won't be welcome or have an easy time with basic tasks like the restroom. We won't be returning until the attitude and staff are changed. No meal is worth a bad cultural experience. My wife and I tried to eat here. My wife and I had disembarked the ferry in OB and heard about the Wave was new so we were excited and called. The woman on the phone said, yes we have availability come on over - we said we were in our way and would be there in 15 minutes. We arrive in VH 15 minutes later. My very pregnant wife waddles over to the hostess and it seems it's a different lady that tells her "do you have a reservation?!" With an attitude. We say "we just spoke with someone." The woman we spoke to then appears and says "yes" I told them it was ok. Then the other woman scolds her and says, well I just "reallocated" all the tables. Not possible anymore. So then they both point to the upstairs deck area across the way and say it's the bar area, go sit up there. My pregnant wife wasn't thrilled with all the distance and steps but said "ok" reluctantly but she had to use the restroom first. For any disabled person - my pregnant wife also has permanent mobility issues - the restroom is down a step and outside in another section. We finally get upstairs and the guys up there said they had reservations starting soon so we had to check with the hostess. Maybe we got profiled in my T-shirt and shorts, but I can guarantee we would have tipped better than the old stodgy people walking in. We probably would have just stayed the but attitude of the staff was just a massive turn off. If an establishment can't put out a welcoming culture, what else aren't they paying attention to with the meal. Off to Beach Road or to try out The Jetty on our Tuesday evening arrival.

The spa is embedded right in the hotel, and when you're a guest using the amenities is seamless. You can easily get into an exercise class, like Zumba or yoga, or use the pool and the saunas- there's one with hot dry heat and another with steam. When you get up to your hotel room it feels more like you're in some kind of time capsule. They have kind of an exhibit of historical objects from the area. Then the room is kind of effortlessly elegant, in that unique New England-y way- just nice furniture, great materials in the bed sheets and whatnot, and some spiffy flair- like a luxurious tub with a huge tabletop for putting bubble bath, salts, spa essentials, maybe a bottle of wine?, and an outdoor terrace for having a light breakfast in the morning (put some fruit in your mini fridge, from the morning or from a market nearby). Five out of five experience.
