As with many of the visitors here, this hotel is a summer tradition for us. While it primarily caters to families with children, it's definitely a great option for younger couples as well. The location is perfect if you prefer a beach hotel that is a little further away from downtown and you drive to the island (I know they have a shuttle but we never used it). If you do bring kids, they have a lot of onsite events and you get a full schedule to sign up upon arrival. They also have adult and family events as well but always make sure you sign up ahead of time as slots fill up quickly. Because you can walk to the beach, all rooms come with beach chairs that you can take with you (they're very light). TIP: The rooms themselves have been recently renovated (around 2024-2025) and they are beautifully decorated. The East Chop Suites are our favorites as the bedroom is next to the patio / facing the ocean while the ones on the West Chop have the living room connected to the patio/balcony and the bedroom is by the entrance door (makes it a little louder with people walking by in the morning). read more

Stayed here during a work trip to the area. The biggest thing about this property is it caters to families with kids. If you're looking for that, this is a great place. Lots of activities spread across the property, a lot of land to roam around, and it's a very short walk to the beach. The rooms are very nice. The one thing they don't really have is a desk. Legit the room has a stove, two TVs, a killer shower and balcony, but no desk to sit and type at. Bed was super comfortable, and the fridge hand actual ice cubes in it. The room also comes with the worlds largest hotel robe (hand to god). My room faced the pool. IF you are in one of these rooms, expect kids playing to wake you up starting at 7:30-8:00 am. It happened both mornings of my stay. The restaurants were decent and they have a convenience store that sells sandwiches that are great. Had a BLT and breakfast sandwich that hit the stop. If you have kids, come here. If you don't, you might want to look elsewhere. read more

Amazing resort! If you have young kids this is the perfect vacation. There is a kids club from 9-12 and some night'a (could be all during season) they have an evening program for kids 5:30-9:30. The shuttle bus comes to pick them up right in front and adults can hop on a winnetu shuttle bus into town. The beach here is beautiful and pool is very relaxing. Can't recommend enough! read more

The Winnetu outdid itself and earned the extra star!! This is a very special resort. The staff is amazing - especially Tim Benoit and his partner Carlos. We contacted Tim several weeks before our arrival to confirm our reservations and spaces in the Kid's Club. He did a phenomenal job. Tim and Carlos also made some great local recommendations for us. When we arrived, everyone came out to greet us (by name). They were super friendly and remembered my girl's names. They gave us the same room that we had last year (very nice touch) and added a white noise machine!!! When we entered our super clean room, we were greeted with a box of chocolates from a local Chocolatier (which we didn't share!) along with a personalized note. The pools are heated and super clean. Plenty of water noodles and life vests for the kids. They also provide towel service. They also have s'mores a few nights a week - a great touch for the adults and kids. The resort also coordinated our travel to Nantucket. It was super easy and convenient. Needless to say, we will be coming back next year!! read more

There are no words to express the experience my partner and I had during our getaway at Winnetu! Everything about the property (the room, the staff, the grounds, the amenities, EVERYTHING) was perfect. When we arrived, we found out we had been upgraded from a queen studio to a king suite with a balcony and an ocean view, which really set the tone for the weekend. Everyone on the front desk team went out of their way to make recommendations for things to do on the island and really made us feel at home. The Dunes, though closed the first two nights of our stay and out of several menu items due to weddings, was great! The only issue I had was the card that was left for my partner and I, addressing us as Mr. and Mrs. Though this may be the "norm", it is 2022 and gay couples exist! I implore you to be mindful of this in the future and maybe include it as a section on the check-in details page. If everything else wouldn't have been perfect, this honestly would have earned the property 4 stars, but even I can look past this slip-up. Winnetu will be our go-to for a getaway on MVY, and we can't wait to go back! I guarantee you won't regret it read more

Beautiful resort but the fun stops at 9pm. We stayed in a garden studio which was absolutely beautiful and in a great location at the Winnetu. We felt like we were in our own exclusive area! The room was very modern with a kitchenette, large bathroom, king bed and outdoor seating area. Also appreciated the comfy robes! All staff members were really friendly and helpful that we encountered. Breakfast is complimentary in the Dunes restaurant but gratuity is expected even though you serve yourself. They do bring you water so I guess that's why they expect tip? The resort is "quiet" after 9pm and getting around seems to be a challenge without a car. As someone who enjoys nightlife and exploring, this was a big downside to me! We didn't encounter any children while there; most likely because kids are back in school during October. Overall the resort was beautiful and accommodating, but best tailored for low key vacationing. read more

Located south of Edgartown, the Winnetu was our lodging choice for two nights on Martha's Vineyard at the end of September. We had a 2 bedroom on the third floor of the main building and it was a great spacious room that could sleep 6 people easily. The guest bathroom was very spacious and was surprisingly smaller than the master bathroom in the master bedroom. The 2 bedroom had a washer/dryer which was great to have! The hotel can offer and arrange shuttle pick up from the ferry dock at Oak Bluff but due to covid and staffing, it was challenging arranging a pick up but they were able to drop us off at the ferry dock. Call ahead of you want to try and arrange something! The staff was super friendly at the hotel itself but calling them prior to our arrival was challenging to talk to someone, hence the 4 star review. Sometimes we never got a message back if we called and left a voicemail, usually they would email back instead. The hotel is really remote so if you want to get around, the hotel does offer shuttle rides to Edgartown. Otherwise you may want to consider a car to see the various parts of the island. You are within walking steps from the beach and about a 15-20 minute bike ride to Edgartown. WiFi for us in the main building was fine. Breakfast is not included here and the restaurant has some overpriced and not as great food. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Winnetu and would choose to stay here if I was looking for a remote and quiet place to relax and unwind on Martha's Vineyard. read more

Not really covering the looks although it is a pretty spot but each cottage gets its own wifi. I am a college student who has online classes and homework, and once logged into my cottage's own wifi, it is short lived. I could be in the middle of a call and the wifi will just drop and disconnect me. This has happened multiple times and I have to quickly reconnect myself to not lose my place. If a place offers you to have wifi at your cottage, it would be nice if every few minutes I wasn't worrying about reconnecting my devices - sincerely disappointed read more

My consulting team had a retreat at the Winnetu Resort at Martha's Vineyard and it was an incredible experience, to say the least. We had 2 bedroom suites lined up for each of us and our significant others that also had full kitchens and living rooms. My room was located on the ground floor, so we also had a yard area with views of the ocean and back patio for lounging. The resort itself was very clean and the staff was amazing. They had a scavenger hunt set up for us as team building exercises during the day, and open bar / restaurants open in the evening. We also had a clam bake on the final evening which was incredible; all you can full on lobsters with other seafood side dishes and appetizers, accompanied by wine pairings and open bar. Visited Martha's Vineyard (Sept 19th - 22nd), with my wife and her family and we decided to stayed at the Winnetu Resort. We were concerned with covid, but the resort was very well prepared for guests. The resort is beautiful and staff were so friendly. We had a 2 bedroom suite that looked out toward the ocean...it was such an incredible time. Rooms were clean and nice, the grounds of the resort were great and goin to sleep hearing the waves crash was the best. Breakfast was included which was a plus (staff have buttons of their faces so guests can see what's behind the mask- great idea). We walked to south beach every morning for sunrise- only a 5 minute walk down the resort path. The pool was open and heated but it was a bit too cold for us outside to enjoy (maybe next time). They have a free shuttle to Edgartown--we didn't go on it but drove (short 5 min ride). Enjoy the sunrise and sunsets! We had a great time, felt safe (resort is covid-cautious) and the location was great! Looking forward to going back to the island in May and will definitely be staying at the Winnetu! If your visiting the Vineyard I HIGHLY recommend you all stay here if you want a clean peaceful place a stone-throw away from the beach! read more

Winnetu Oceanside Resort is the hotel to go to if you are traveling to Martha's Vineyard. The hotel is very spacious and beautiful on both the inside and outside. They have a large green lawn featuring soccer goals, a small pond, chairs, and more. The rooms are also very nice. One of the things that made our trip at Winnetu so memorable was their staff and their willingness to help. We had planned a day trip to Nantucket which they helped us with transportation and making the trip amazing. Allison, one of the ladies in the concierge section was very helpful. Overall, we were incredibly pleased with our experience with the Winnetu. Even through Covid-19 they keep serving others. We will definitely be returning in the future! read more

What a great place to stay in Martha's Vineyard! There is so much to offer and such nice rooms. If you have a house nearby you can also use the things in the resort. So in the resort there is a pool that is pretty big, a large field with things like balls to play with that the guests can use, a life size chess board and pieces, and a shuttle that takes you to the center of Edgartown every hour. The resort is near South Beach and you could bike to Edgartown center. To rent a bike just tell the front desk the night before and the bikes will be waiting for you the next day. The rooms are nice! There is a nice hallway and then rooms that have a sofa bed and tv and kitchen with a connecting room with a king bed, sofa bed, and tv. Also there is an area to go sit outside and there are tables and chairs. I never ran out of things to do and really enjoyed my stay. I am looking forward to coming back soon. I have had friends stay here as well and i have only heard good things about it. read more

This place is overall pretty nice. Scenic. My room was tiny but some of the rooms have living rooms. I think they all have at least a stovetop, microwave, and mini fridge. There are various suites/townhomes/standalone homes as well. They run a free shuttle to and from Edgartown, so you don't have to pay for cabs. Cons: -Everything on this island closes up early. Good luck eating after 10, or getting anything delivered. You have to call in an order, THEN call a cab to pick up your food. So bring your own midnight snacks. -Also BYOB. You have glasses, ice, etc. in your room. If you're taking the ferry or checking a bag, buy booze on the mainland because the markup on the island is insane. -Seems like the showers don't get terribly hot...although I prefer to scald myself. -Seems like you can hear everything going on in/around this hotel. Although they have quiet hours from 9PM-9AM so maybe regular guests follow the rules. My company's corporate retreat...not so much. read more

My family just returned from a weeks stay and it was excellent. I chose the Winnetu because of the children's activities and they did not disappoint. Not only did my husband and I get to spend every morning together (sans kids) but we even had a date night with the children's evening programming. My kids loved the activities--my 11 year old made friends and my 3 year old loved the "green teachers" (because of the color of their shirts). Staff were excellent and helpful. My son's bike pedal fell off while there and Greg, the concierge, connected us with the company that the resort rents bikes from and we had it fixed in 5 minutes with no charge--it made my sons day :) Resort will make dinner recommendations to you and then make reservations. Free shuttle to Edgartown will get you there and back--no hassle. We are already planning our return trip--the island is a great place to vaca! Take advantage of the resort amenities. My husband and I treated ourselves to a couples massage and my son and I took the tour of Chappaquiddick. If you have kids let them do the children's activities-- the kids went to the beach and the bay, went to one of the two swimming pools, rode the Flying Horses in Oak Bluffs and visited the Edgartown lighthouse. Resort also offers afternoon face painting, cookies, fire engine rides, and s'mores. The pools are heated so you feel like you are swimming in bath water--very relaxing. Also, perfect biking location--don't visit the island without a bike! You can work up your appetite biking into Edgartown and burn your calories riding back to Winnetu. Easy 3 miles up and back. Excellent trip and will visit again :) read more

We stayed here during our Fourth of July holiday, and were happy with our choice. I chose this place because it is very accomodating to families with small children. We have a 6 month old and upon our request Winnetu had a pack and play and high chair in our room before our arrival. We stayed in a one bedroom suite in the main building, which had a kitchenette, and living room. The sofa and chair converted to queen and twin size beds. We were located close to the heated outdoor pool, and poolside grill which serves lunch. There are great areas on the grounds for fun photo shoots. There is an Alice-in-Wonderland-esque life size chessboard, lush green lawns, and a path to South Beach. The resort provides beach chairs and beach towels. Activities include a weekly clam bake (Wednesdays), daily fire truck rides, shuttle services to downtown Edgartown. In addition, they had special activities for the kids on the Fourth. Day care is available for a fee if you need it. We didn't use the day care services, but met some of the babysitters, and they seemed really nice. The staff overall are very helpful and accomodating. My husband was upset because he couldn't get a good Wifi signal, so the resort IT guy stopped by. He didn't really solve the Wifi issues, but as a local gave us great recommendations on things to do on the island. It was good to be unplugged for a change anyways! This resort is on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I would stay here again. read more

We were looking so forward to staying at the Winnetu, but have never been so completely disappointed in a high-end resort . We are staying in one of the duplexes connected with the Winnetu and it is just disgusting. It is so run down and old. Everything smells of mildew and feels so dirty- and every piece of furniture is uncomfortable-especially the beds. We spoke with the staff today to share our disappointment and the woman who appeared to be a manager was dismissive, condescending and rude. She even went on to say that the mildew smell is just "the smell of the Vineyard." I highly doubt anyone would want to stay on this beautiful island if that were true-especially at a supposed 5-star resort. We are unfortunately booked for an entire week (to be here to attend a loved ones wedding this coming weekend). We had booked our stay with great excitement several months ago, but now feel completely misled by the description given. Whatever you do, be sure not to EVER book a duplex. The hotel itself looks lovely which makes our accommodations all the more disappointing. We will NEVER stay at the Winnetu again. Not just because the duplex is gross, but because the management handled it so poorly and ungraciously. read more

Sitting here on the way back to New York; I'm in awe of how beautiful of a vacation I just had. My family stayed at the Winnetu Resort for a mini getaway (mid June Fri-Monday). The grounds are gorgeous and staff excellent! Pool is a nice temperature. The man giving out the towels always with a smile on his face. The beach that the resort is on has nice soft sand. I saw kids, couples enjoying romantic bike rides, what looked like a company retreat, my sisters and I are young adults. The resort is for every age group. No need to bring beach chairs, provided. They provide every yard game imaginable. We got by fine without a car, since the resort has frequent shuttle rides to Edgartown. We did yoga classes in the mornings (clean yoga mats provided). (Next time probably bringing our car to be more adventurous). Tim at the concierge office is AMAZING. He helped us plan out our weekend with memorable activities/restaurants. Our trip wouldn't have been half as good without his help. THANK YOU TIM. We worked closer with Tim, but we met Carlos in the same office who gave great recommendations! Another special mention to Kyle who's friendly face we saw frequently over the weekend. He gave us a tour of the resort, helped with our bags, drove the shuttle, Jack of all trades! Only downside, which is out of their control, you can hear people in the hallways and little kids jumping on the floor above from inside the room. read more

I came here with my family- my father and my sister. I will say first that the hotel and rooms are stated to be ocean side / have ocean views. This just is not accurate. The photographs of the winnetu on the website make the property seem much closer to be beach, and we spent many moments talking about how that picture was accomplished. Just know that you'll be walking for five minutes to get there. Not bad but not what is pictured. Second, this is a family hotel. Kids, kids and more kids. Sometimes that doesn't impact your day to day but this will. I agree with the reviews, if you are one who likes an evening cocktail bring that with you- the restaurant closes at nine so you have no other resources if you desire anything. My largest piece of feedback is the staff. The restaurant staff was shocking. They Openly acted like they wanted to be any place else. I even heard one female staff member make a rude comment about my family... In front of me! It was really unprofessional and unwelcoming. If you are going to the vineyard I would recommend a house rental over this hotel because there aren't enough services to make a difference, it's just not a luxury hotel and the staff is a huge detractor. Or I would recommend one of the houses on the property as to bypass those that work at the hotel completely. A positive? Tim the concierge is great. Rooms are clean. Winnetu is a beautiful resort where my family has stayed for years. As a child, my parents took me. Now I take my own kids. The facilities are great, and the location is gorgeous. A major draw for me has been the camp for kids who are guests of the resort. However, in recent years, the counselors they hire who care for the children have become increasingly irresponsible. They show up to work hung over and talk about things like sex and partying in front of the kids. Some of this I know through a personal mutual connection, but some is because my kids have told me directly. When I approached management over this, the main contact was extremely kind. She also said when counselors show up hungover, they are asked to leave for the day. However, I don't feel this is enough. I also feel badly myself that I have not reported this sooner, so I consider reviewing this property part of my atonement. Please think twice about using the camp, especially if your children are on the young side and won't be able to report back to you on their sense of well-being there, as my kids, who are now older, have. On the other hand, if you don't have children or do but don't plan on sending them to the camp, you will have a lovely stay at this property. read more

Amazing place to be! Wonderful views of the ocean (south beach) from are hotel suite (sweet!) which was so cozy, and comfortable. The staff was amazing! every single person I talked to from the front desk to the bell hops to the concierge was magnificent. Very helpful took the time to answer all question in detail and very attentive. Dodi was so awesome thank you for everything! she was the assistant restaurant manager and made mountains move! Tim the manager was awesome too. He made sure I had a wide variety of vendors to pick from for our wedding and a week before we arrived he passed us off to Dodi. Can't say enough about Winnetu! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are recently renovated and clean and QUIET! The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food at the restaurant was great and the all of the activities they have on the property (corn hole, foosball, etc..) were an added bonus. The South beach is a short walk away and they run shuttles to and from Edgartown on a regular basis which eliminates the need to rent a car which is nice. The have fire truck rides in the afternoon on and antique fire truck which my 5 year old son really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend this family friendly resort. We'll be back for sure. read more

I'm a writer and truly have trouble finding the words to describe the splendor of this amazing place. The people are wonderful, but not in a cloying way. There is genuine care. The grounds are beyond scenic, like something out of a dream. And the offerings for adults or those with children are simply amazing. More than anything, I was just blown away at how thoughtful the Winnetu is. From big things to small, there is such care in every detail. My family and I were fortunate enough to spend about five days here and it's so much more than a trip or vacation. It's a life event; and an experience we'll treasure forever. We live on the other side of the country and getting to Martha's Vineyard with two kids isn't the easiest. But it's totally worth it. We'll be back. Over and again, we'll be back! read more

If you want a five-star luxury experience, with room service and a real spa: don't go to Martha's Vineyard. That said, the Winnetu comes as close as anything we've found. We stayed in a large, tasteful room with a separate sitting room, a big bath, and a decent kitchenette, including a small full-size fridge, dishwasher, and two-burner stove. In other words, the accommodations seemed designed for families (there was an additional Murphy Bed built into a cabinet) or at least people who want to prepare some of their own meals. (We didn't, but, hey, nice to be able to keep ice in the room.) Despite the family vibe, we found the place to be very quiet (9pm to 9am are designated "quiet hours"); the view lovely, the walk to the beach pleasant, the staff helpful, and rooms nicely appointed. A few suggestions: much easier to stay here if you have a car. Massages are available if you take a little walk and cross a street, but they're just massages, no locker room or soaking tub. If you go off pavement, do a serious tick-check when you get back to the room...we checked me but not thoroughly enough! read more
