I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when visiting Martha's Vineyard. Like the home you always wanted to live in with quiet and gracious service in a rarified setting. Peaceful elegance without pretentiousness. If you know the difference. Beds and pillows are world class. The rooms appointed with real antique furnishings. Not cheap knockoffs. The gardens are relaxing and you MUST dine in the Terrace Restaurant. Breakfast of course. Dinner is essential. A trip to another place, not too far, yet just far enough. You can fly your jet in. Or motor your yacht. Or just take the car ferry like we do. Just make your reservation well in advance. This hotel is a work of art. It feels like you stepped back in time in the best way. Checking in you as asked to sign into a beautiful guest log branded with the hotel logo. Paintings line the walls of the main house with antiques in every corner. You can get lost in a book while one of the beautiful golden retrievers sits by you. The gardens are a place a serenity you either sit or causally stroll in admiration. The service is wonderful as well. Turn down service every evening and helpful recommendations from the front desk. If you purchase a bottle of champagne in town they will set you up in the green room with a nice fire and glasses. Walking distance to Edgartown is a huge plus also. You can easily pop back and forth from shopping and between meals. read more

I wanted so much to like this! As we were planning our visit to Martha's Vineyard, we researched several places we wanted to dine at. We picked Charlotte Inn because it looked so beautiful, the restaurant was so adorable, and we hoped the food would be just as amazing... unfortunately, not. We had the 3 course dinner, with appetizer, entree, and dessert. Sad to say, all three things were lacking. But it is still a very beautiful place! read more

We recently stayed at The Charlotte for two nights, though we wish we could have stayed much longer. Our room was impeccable and brimming with historical touches everywhere. The shared spaces, inside and out are just lovely, but it's the people at The Charlotte Inn most responsible for your comfort. They are fantastic, especially Lindsay who basically looked after us the entire time. She's warm and welcoming and intent on making sure we had all we needed for a memorable stay. The Inn is just as charming as the town of Edgartown if not more. The owners and staff are accommodating and very attentive. There is a kindness of spirit and generosity that is shared by everyone who is associated with the Inn. I highly recommend anyone looking for special alternative to a traditional getaway to give the The Charlotte Inn a try. There's a word for The Charlotte Inn. PERFECTION. We recently spent a week there (June 2019) and just as it was the previous two stays, it is no less than perfection. As delightful and beautiful as the gardens and grounds are, they are just a hint of the spectacular beauty within. The décor suggests an English country house. The public rooms, filled with beautiful antiques and artwork, are inviting and comfortable. Our king room was in the side building. With a comfortable king bed, two wonderful overstuffed chairs and more of the same décor in the public rooms, it felt like home--actually better than. I wish my bedroom at home looked like this. Nothing has been left to chance. Every need a guest might have has been anticipated and provided for. At the same time, it appears as if it happens effortlessly which adds to the comfortable, quiet charm of the inn. At the helm are Gery and Paula Conover, two of the most gracious hosts possible. Despite their assuredly busy schedules, they pause to chat at length and delight in talking about the inn and their amazing collections of antiques. Breakfast and dinner in the Terrace dining room is a wonderful experience. Served on Limoges porcelain, the food is excellent. They have a new chef this year who we spoke with us at length when we met him in the gardens on afternoon. He's excited about his food and when it is served, his enthusiasm shows. The food is delicious and service was impeccable! The servings are big and tasty. Very historic, lots of history the waiter Oscar was great and new all the history on this place. I will definitely come back next time I'm on vacation. read more

This is a lovely place with really great service, but there is no parking available and it is outrageous for them to charge $800 a night and not provide parking. You can park at a municipal lot but you need to move you car by 8 AM. That ruins everything. read more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights; this place was stunning. The service was truly excellent and the place is simply impeccable. From the moment you pull up out in the front, you are greeted by very elegant young men that carry your belongings inside. The place is very intimate and elegant. The decor is unbelievable, down to every detail, careful and thoughtful array of beautiful antiques all carefully positioned. The room we stayed in was peaceful perfectly arranged and clean. The bed was beautiful and plush, the bathroom was spotless (as was everything else), and all very comfortable. The cleaning and turn-down service couldn't have been any better, and the staff, specifically the young lady at front desk, the cleaning crew and the young porters (bellboys)) were very friendly and helpful the entire time. We didn't get a chance to eat in the Terrace but heard it is amazing, the setting is very pretty. We stayed in the main building but had a chance to ram around a little and the gardens and adjacent buildings are truly stunning. The location is perfect, within a 2 second walking distance to Main Street. The one thing to note is that they do not allow cell phone use inside (common areas), which I understand keeps the peace for everyone. Would like to note that although this was inconvenient at times (my husband was there for a conference) they did help us if we needed to print something and fax something (which we had to upon arrival) and they did help out in providing my husband accommodation to be able to use his laptop when we had already checked out of the room. They also were nice in keeping our belongings for the afternoon post-checkout. So all in all they were helpful and accommodating. Definately not a place to bring children or to stay if you are a large group or loud people, but definately worth the visit. It is a little pricey and I we would have liked if they provided breakfast complimentary (otherwise I would have given 5 stars), but other than that we would highly recommend a visit to the Charlotte Inn. read more
