    Sitting Area

We loved our stay at 76 Main! Upon checking, we were told that they upgraded our room without a charge. This was a nice surprise as we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday. Everything is lovely beginning with the outside to the foyer to the sitting room to our room. You will find fresh baked goodies throughout the day and evening in the foyer. The sitting room was a great area to sit and read or just have a chat. There was a mixer that evening. Everything you would want to have in your favorite cocktail is beautiful displayed in the kitchen to add in your own spirits. (BYOB) We stopped at the package store just down the way and purchased Rose and whiskey. Our room was spacious with a king bed, chair, dresser, and side tables. Soft robes are provided as well as high end toiletries. Hangers and wall hooks are provided for hanging your clothes as there is not a closet. The bathroom was small with not much counter space. However, this was not a problem for us. We hope to return soon!

My husband and I decided to stay at 76 Main the week after labor day for a little "babymoon". We booked about three weeks prior to our stay and had to move rooms which was not a big deal at all and the housekeeping made it as painless as possible by allowing us to leave our luggage in the current room and then moved it to the new one while we were out for the day. The location of the inn is perfect - it is just steps from town but still far enough away to ensure a quiet nights rest. We were told that there was limited parking, which was the case - but that it was not a big deal as busses ran cheap to all of the beaches and they would provide us with beach chairs and towels. Sounded like a plan to us! However when we arrived (as I mentioned the week after labor day) we found out that the busses had stopped running to all but one beach... felt mislead by inn management who obviously did not know what they were talking about. They did follow through with great beach chairs, towels, and an umbrella though which was appreciated. Not wanting to take cabs back and forth every day - we took the bus to the same beach every day. The inn was beautiful - you could tell recently tastefully renovated. I loved the back patio area where you could enjoy coffee , a nice book, or drink in the afternoon. Our first room was a deluxe king at the bottom of the stairs. This room had AC which made it very comfortable, and faced bushes which made it nice and quiet. The linen on the bed was incredible! I need to find out where it is from so I can also buy it. The inn is kind enough to provide water in the rooms and i pads to help you with your trip - nice touch. One piece of advice as to be expected in almost all Nantucket Inn's is that the bathrooms are tiny. Not just small but uber tiny. The stall shower we had in our deluxe king room was not pregnant friendly. I was uncomfortable showering every day and I think more water ended up out of the stall than in... Other gripes about the room include a very hard knotted rug under the bed. It hurt our feet just to step on it - rude awakening for a preggo who is up frequently through the night. A nice pair of slippers would have been appreciated to help ease the pain. The main light in our room would not turn on. When we asked management they told us it did not work due to an upstairs leak... The room was beautiful though, with a comfy bed, and actually quite spacious for Nantucket standards. The second half of the week we were upstairs in a queen room, number 8 which was lovely as well with the exception of the temp. There was no AC in this room and the windows were forced shut so that we could not open them... strange. There was no way to manage the temperature in the room and it became very hot overnight. Not wanting to wake anyone up I told Katie the next day - she fixed it as best she could. Family tip - they have guest houses removed from the main inn, which are great for families and come with a mini fridge. Breakfast was ok each morning - they had the same types of muffins, scones, cereal, and juice - which were tasty. Some mornings the breakfast was not out in time for when they advertised, which was annoying as we paid for it, and had some early morning tours - lighthouse and boat trip that we were counting on a quick breakfast for. For coffee they had k-cups... huge disappointment - this is what we have at home. I would much prefer a fresh brewed cup then out of a cup that I get at home on a weekday. Also disappointing was there was not the standard afternoon coffee, tea, and snack that every other inn I have ever stayed at offers. Overall the management seemed tired and over the summer season, which was quite a disappointment for our only trip this year. Katie was ok, and was really trying. But the male manager seemed awkward and non-chalant about everything. Based on our experience and number of choices on the island we will most likely not be back.

stayed in this well designed boutique hotel at the top of main street while some other friends stayed at the sister location, 21 broad (a little closer to town + offers more rooms). we actually preferred being a bit off. was quiet vs. other which was next door to a popular late night bar. we were able to visit each location which was nice. just a quick five minute walk from one to the other. both have common areas with stuff like games, a record player, outdoor courtyards with lounges + modern fire-pits. our location offered beach chairs + towels that they let us share with our friends. the staff flip-flopped from each location too so wherever we were they new us. the managers, daniel + corrine were spectacular along with everyone else. always friendly, offered suggestions for restaurants, assisted with transportation, and/or whatever we needed (even before we booked). would recommend suite 15 on the third floor. because it is a renovated house, you can hear everything going on. didn't bother us though. small reading room off the bathroom was cute + sunny in the afternoons along with a cushioned window bench that over looked main street. only a few sugfestions to make the stay even better... #1 change plastic curtain on already xsmall shower to glass door (although skylight was another nice touch, extremely needed), add a soap dish for the sink counter, fox ice machine on second floor (was fine going to the kitchen, but closed at 10pm). other then that, a wonderful place to stay. would highly recommend it!

They let me take a seat while they finished setting up. They have whatever you are looking for on their menu. No one leaves hungry. I had the the three egg omelette with peppers, spinach and mushrooms substituting fruit for the hash browns. They brought me my bill without asking. The waiter checked several times to see if I needed anything. He had definitely had some coaching because everything was perfect. A tad bit pricey but that is Nantucket from you. Well this "tent" ended up being a convention hall. The main building wasn't as grandiose as I thought it would be but nonetheless the hotel has been renovated to contemporary luxury. The hotels and rooms are spread out in the town and separate complexes. The room was comfortable but I wasn't overly wowed because it wasn't luxury. It was very basic for the price on or off season. No wow effect whatsoever. The service was fine and everybody seems to be professional and polite. They have pastries and coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon In the lobby area. When you walk through the hallways to your room they call the art gallery. My husband won a use of a BMW for 4 hours to see the sites of Nantucket which was nice. The hotel holds your stuff at checkout if you want to go into town and your ferry leaves late. The hotel is near children's Beach and you can walk to the Brant Point lighthouse and Beach. There is a shuttle bus that picks you up from the dock to the hotel. There is a restaurant in the hotel Grant Point grill which is very good but again the ambience was underwhelming inside. There is a pool but it was closed for the season. Elevator was broken too. I would like to experience this hotel without a mammoth structure on the grounds of the hotel. I can't say I was impressed but I don't believe it was worth the price I paid for even off-season. I think that's great that people want to pay a lot of money per night and I don't have a problem with that if I can justify it. The room didn't even come with a full breakfast.

We had tea in the common room in the afternoon; able to chat with other visitors - relaxing and quite pleasant. The restaurant was to die for. We made our reservation on Resy a week before. Everything was just incredible, starting with a mussel appetizer, cod and polenta/spinach dish, to the chocolate soufflé. The next morning we crossed the street to attend services at Saint Paul's Episcopal. Came back for a quick breakfast down stairs; the coffee was top-shelf, eggs perfectly made, and fresh fruit - can't beat any of that. We left our bag at the Inn, and went in town to shop, sip coffee, and take it all in. Picked up our bag and dropped it off at the Hyline building. Had lunch with local friends at Brant Point. We also changed rooms. The first room had part of the window covering falling off amongst other issues. lol the manager said they had someone coming to fix the window covering (a corner) but c'mon. He could have easily double taped it or done anything to make it look decent. After we left it the next girls in that room said there was no dryer only the attachments and came back out again after the plugs breaker was killed several times. Unfortunately the manager left a young female employee with only a single days training alone. We know this because we helped her find the breaker for the this room that we vacated that the new occupants kept blowing the breaker using the steamer and a curling iron at the same time. The employees are lovely but with management like they have they will never stay. The location is the only redeeming factor. Whomever owns this hotel should be there, train and hire someone who makes this connection with the hotel and their guests. The coffee is terrible and so are the bicycles. They aren't kept up. Also the employees sit at a round table by the door like customers with their laptops and iPads which is as bad as a bar owner sitting at the end of a bar like it's his office. The little room to have a complimentary drink is dark and hot and uncomfortable. Not our kind of place for the price. There was a lively African American woman who help after I fell and soooo gracious. The new girl just two days in also lovely. Work harder to keep them and get rid of your manager who clearly doesn't know or care how to run a hotel.
