The in is so cute and quiet I think I met the owners w few times during my stay; they were very nice and kind. Every staff member was pleasant The newly painted in with spring colors were also inviting at the entry. I later discovered the private courtyard which was perfect to have a quick bite. Our two bedroom was clean and nicely furnished. There were small fruit flies on my side of the room; not consistent but enough to notice. Room service is offered dial however we didn't use this service. Upon booking last year the website mentioned two beach chairs and towels; this is a great service however there was only ONE chair available during our stay; I was a little disappointed. I planned to spend my mornings and some evenings sitting on the beach. Overall our stay was wonderful and I would give 5 if not for the frui flies & missing beach chairs. I'd definitely recommend and would stay again.

The location is on a very quiet little side street that feels isolated even in the midst of the summer chaos. The great part is that the Carriage House is still only a short walk to the center of Nantucket. The rooms aren't large but extremely nice and furnished in period style. They serve a pleasant breakfast in the morning and we had some of the best blueberry muffins ever. Perhaps the nicest part of our stay was getting to met the proprietors Haziel and his wife Tomomi. They were incredibly gracious and friendly and not only willing to take the time to give us directions to anything we wanted but also seemed to enjoy discussing environmental issues on the island or aspects of Nantucket history, politics, or just about anything else. This is an absolutely gorgeous place to stay but it was the hospitality of Haziel and Tomomi that made it very special.

The location couldn't be better - a block from the head of Main Street, near Murray's, yet off on a secluded and quiet side street. The bedroom was comfortable and cozy - bonus that the view from my window was of the gold dome of the Unitarian Church. As others have said, this is a great value when compared to other B&B's in the area, which are much more expensive. At Carriage, I stayed in a queen room with a private bath for approximately $50-$75 less than what a single bed with shared bath would have cost me elsewhere. One very small additional convenience that would be nice would be air conditioning, as it can get pretty hot and humid at times on the island. The lack of A/C is actually common on the island however, and I slept comfortably with the ceiling fan.

There were so many adorable details, I wish I had taken more photos. Inside, there's tea available all day, and free breakfast in the mornings. The spa is embedded right in the hotel, and when you're a guest using the amenities is seamless. You can easily get into an exercise class, like Zumba or yoga, or use the pool and the saunas- there's one with hot dry heat and another with steam. When you get up to your hotel room it feels more like you're in some kind of time capsule. They have kind of an exhibit of historical objects from the area. Then the room is kind of effortlessly elegant, in that unique New England-y way- just nice furniture, great materials in the bed sheets and whatnot, and some spiffy flair- like a luxurious tub with a huge tabletop for putting bubble bath, salts, spa essentials, maybe a bottle of wine?, and an outdoor terrace for having a light breakfast in the morning (put some fruit in your mini fridge, from the morning or from a market nearby). Five out of five experience.

We happened to be on island during a huge rainstorm and the forecast was bad when we took the ferry over and went to worse after we arrived and there were no ferries leaving with wind gusts at 40-50 mph. We would have preferred to postpone our trip but would have lost a significant amount of money. We tried to make the best of it but we were quite miserable and drenched much of the time. They even took care to change the King size bed to two twins for my sister and I. We didn't even ask for this and it made for a great night of sleep! Peace, quiet, and extreme cleanliness really helped as well. The inn has super site spaces like a rooftop deck, an outside patio with BBQ grills with seating, and a common area with a TV. Kathleen and Frank are amazing hosts - you'll instantly take to them as they are so cordial and easy to get along with.
