Rainy day... but looks directly out to the ocean!

Awesome deal! This Inn is super reasonably priced for what you get. The rooms and spotless and have comfortable beds. Most rooms look out to the ocean and it is located right in the heart of Oak Bluffs. Steps from all the restaurants and bars. We will definitely be back!

While trying to decide where to go for our 7th wedding anniversary, we happened upon The Dockside Inn. We've wanted to go to Martha's Vineyard but didn't want to go during the busiest time of the year. After MUCH research, we settled on Oak Bluffs and The Dockside Inn. Before making my reservation, I called and spoke to John (I believe he is the owner). From the first conversation with him, I knew I picked the right place. When we arrived, we were greeted by Lianne. She is a beautiful and friendly young woman who makes you feel right at home. Her warm smile and cheery attitude are just as nice as the decor. After not even 5 minutes, we were off to a short tour and then to our room. Here is the breakdown: Room: We stayed in Room 29. It has a VERY comfortable queen bed. The room was SPOTLESS and had an amazing view of the harbor across the street. It also had a small fridge and amenities like soap, shampoo and conditioner. There is a tv but we didn't watch it much. There is also a nice area downstairs that offers complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, granola bars, fresh fruit, ice cream, Popsicles, yogurt and pastries. VERY nice touch! No, there is no breakfast or food served there but that is NOT a big deal because of what they offer and because you are within walking distance to many restaurants. Location: We took the ferry and left our car in Woods Hole. The area is truly walkable. We loved walking around and seeing all of the shops and restaurants (some not open for the season yet but when we come back in September, they will be). Food: We ate at the Lookout Tavern and Linda Jeans. The food was good at both places. We had a photo shoot to commemorate our anniversary and first time in MV. Our last shots were in the lobby of The Dockside Inn and Lianne bought out a bottle of champagne for us! So thoughtful! John also came out and wished us well. He even commented that we had an amazing sunset just as I requested (when I made the reservation). Remembering your customers and providing such outstanding customer service is what makes this 5 stars in my book! The clean room, great location and complimentary goodies exceed well over 5 stars. I can't say enough about this place! I can't wait to go back and my husband feels the same way. Thank you for a fantastic anniversary!!

What a lovely place to stay!

My fiancé and I came to visit the island off season and stayed here, mostly because of the inexpensive rates but also due to the location. It is located right in Oaks bluff walking distance to all the stuff you want to see and right next to the ocean. Our room want an ocean view but we had access to a little deck area which was lovely for enjoying a cocktail during sunset. The room was clean and elegantly decorated. The staff was also great and recommended a yummy dinner spot and bus line tips to get to other parts if the island. There was a mini fridge in the room and ice machine around the corner. We would definatley stay here again and highly reccomend to anyone visiting MV!

This is the room. Small but clean and comfy.

My sister…read moreand I wanted to celebrate our anniversary (July 16 and July 17) and decided to comeback to MV after being away for a number of years. I asked my sister to look for a place for the four of us and she picked the Beachfront Inn. I was a little skeptical because our travel tastes are different. I like luxury and she is more economy. That being said all four of us LOVED our stay. I believe the innkeeper was Stan and he was a delight. My husband and I stayed in the biggest room with the en-suite and we did not need to concern ourselves with the lack of AC because the ocean breeze was amazing. I loved the location, we were on the beach and could walk from the ferry and to Circuit Avenue. The innkeeper makes the difference at any bed&breakfast and Stan made us feel like we were literally at home. We enjoyed our stay so much when we looked to book a place for guests to stay for our 25th anniversary, he was our first call. I saw the negative reviews and couldn't hold back my review so that's why I'm writing after all these years. As a matter of fact I am writing this while sitting on the beach in front of the Beachfront Inn and telling my friends what a nice place it is. So I am not sure about the negative reviews but that was certainly not the experience of four people from NYC. Hopefully, you'll give them a try.

PROS: -Fantastic location. You're literally across the…read morestreet from the beach and a five-seven minute walk from Circuit Avenue. Can't beat that. -Rooms are not overly kitchy. I do not like lots of flowers and lace so this was nice for me. I stayed in the Apricot room, and it was clean, light, and airy, with minimal lace. (It was kind of pinkish, but then again, it was the apricot room.) -Ceilings are high and while the smaller rooms are small, they're not cramped, and the high ceilings kind of make you feel like you're in a treehouse. I loved that feeling. -There is wifi. -The owners and everyone staffing the B&B were very nice, warm, and welcoming. I have stayed at some B&Bs were it was just kind of awkward, and this one was not like that. They were genuinely pleasant. -They make it clear on the website that the rooms don't have AC, but do have fans. Honestly, we barely needed the fans-- the house stays fairly cool, and so did our room, even though we were on the second floor. -My parents were there at the same time we were, and their room had a little balcony overlooking the beach, which was awesome. -The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable. Definitely as good as top of the line hotels that I have stayed in. And a ton better than many budget hotels. It also happens to be better than my own bed, although that may just say more about my own place. CONS: -It's an old house. Floors creak, walls are thin, etc. If you're the kind of person who avoids rooms near the elevator in a standard hotel, beware. You will hear people walking around periodically. It didn't bother me, but I thought it was worth mentioning. -I would describe the style of the house (not the rooms) as older. Not kitchy in the way that someone deliberately tried to make things overly floral, but in the way that it's full of older pieces and antiques from someone's life. Not my style, but I made good use of the rocking chairs on the front porch and was quite content that way. -Breakfast is not full style breakfast, but continental (toast, jam, tea, etc). Again, this is something that's clear on the website, but if you're looking for the traditional hot breakfast of many B&Bs, this is not your place.
