Nice family owned restaurant with many options, both Chinese & seafood. The chochos were tasty & crispy. I had the general tso lunch special which came with shrimp fried rice & egg roll. Also had the seafood boil bag. I picked the Cajun seasoning and spice level hot. It was not thatttt spicy but it was flavored very well. The sauce is so good & if you like fiery crab you will love this place just as much or even more. Got a free drink for leaving a Google review & that was very easy to do because the staff is so friendly & accommodating. Stopped in for a snacky-snack the day after the grand opening. Thought I had missed out on the freed food offer, but it was still available. Winning! You select one of 13 items, which is a great, risk-free way for potential customers to try your products. I selected the General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice. I'm partial to shrimp fried rice, but this pork fried rice was fire! It was flavorful, and seasoned with onion and green onion. Each grain was a delight with a hint of sweetness. Perhaps that was the pork. It was made with love, and reminded me of the rice from the former Chinese Tea Garden. The chicken was good, but it didn't match the rice. I would've preferred a crispier breading and thicker coating. Not much to complain about, though, as this was a full meal for free. And for that I'm thankful. As you can imagine with freed food, service was chaotic with too many ignorant and ungrateful people. The staff, however, was patient and pleasant, and the 10/11-year-old host was on top of his game. He gave a warm greeting, explained how to order takeout, and provided a farewell. He's been trained. Not much has changed from the Baby Cajun Joint interior, which had completed a full restoration of the site several months ago. Was looking for some Chinese food relatively close to my house. I came across Tea Garden on here of course and was impressed by their menu, pictures posted by fellow Yelpers, and the reviews. I gave them a try, calling in and placing my order for pickup. I enjoyed the General Tso's chicken combo that came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, as well as the leftovers. The food was fresh and still piping hot when I got home. This will be one of my go to Chinese restaurants, with a number of other items I would like to try. Located in On Elysian Fields in Gentilly, great place to stop in for pickup or dine in. There are a few parking stops in front of the location, and also a small lot around the corner. read more

We were so happy to see this new Restaurant open near us! Tonight was our first time and it was amazing! The atmosphere is beautiful with mellow music playing in the background. Daisy our waitress was friendly and attentive. Everything we ordered was delicious! From the Sushi rolls to the Ramen and Moo Goo Gai Pan, we were satisfied above and beyond. I enjoyed the food personal, the atmosphere was great the only thing that caught me by surprise was when i asked the guy working the counter for a recommendation and he said "i don't eat here the food makes me sick" ... great service overall. So far, I have only ordered takeout from this new spot. I appreciate the Asian fusion menu. Plan to order from here when I have family in town so everybody can get what they are in the mood for, whether that be Chinese food, Ramen or sushi. Went there today, 3/15/2025. First time there and was very impressed with the staff and the food. Had the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce and white rice. Loved the taste, my server Kelly was very attentive making sure everything was good. Good atmosphere and plenty of space. It's in a good neighbor off Elysian Fields Ave right by Dillard University. Popped in for a quick early dinner. Greeted fast, seated and thanked for coming in. Waitress was very helpful and happy, atmosphere is new and brightly lit. Order simple basic food, kung po chicken and mandarin chicken dinners. Both come with fried rice and a very big egg roll. Tasted good and fresh, also tried the hot and sour soup. I liked it a lot but others said it was too spicy . Constant phone calls from people ordering, also nice flow of people picking up. With in 30 minutes the place started filling up. Daisy the waitress was great but I believe she was the only one. Juggling all her duties it took a while to pay. If you're looking for ok good Chinese food this would be the place. This place is fantastic! We stopped in late for dinner, and Daisy (the waitress) was very welcoming. We got a large egg drop soup, combo plate, and two sushi rolls. As an expert sushi eater, who has tried almost every good sushi restaurant in New Orleans, these simple hand rolls did not upset. Sushi rice was good. Rice to fish ratio was great. Fish was fresh which is the most important. Food came out very fast. Restaurant was extremely clean. We got refills on our drinks in a timely manner. We will definitely be regulars! This is not the old chinese tea garden. The food was horrible. The rice was bland very little green onion, no bean sprout, and dry. The entree of boneless chicken and vegetables only had 5 vegetables which included 1 broccoli florets, 2 mushrooms, and 1 snap pea. The so called shrimp egg rolls are full of pork. This has got to be thr worst chinese restuarant in the city. I used to eat hear once a week for years. Since the reopening the food is abysmal. I will never eat here again. Chinese kitchen, China rose, or China Orchid is 100 percent better. read more
