We have loved this restaurant for more than 20 years- all things have an end. Last night placed a to go order and the food was not acceptable/not consumable. We were so surprised by the product until we called the restaurant to fix the problem. The new owners are defensive/ argumentative/do not wish to address problems. Refusing to acknowledge their mistake or offer any solution. We suggested to remake or refund. They refused and said the reaturant has never had a complaint. I have a love hate for this restaurant! I really like a couple of dishes here, but their prices way too high for the quality of the food. Again, my issue is with their pricing. What do I order? We have been going to the Tea Garden for 30+ years. In general, we have been very happy with our food selections from the restaurant. However, the last several times we've ordered fried chicken dishes like Sesame chicken or General Tsao chicken the chicken has been very chewy/stringy. However, the dishes like. When we entered the restaurant it was packed with standing room only. As we looked over the menu for take out we observed multiple families leaving happy and with to go bags. It was ORGANIZED CHAOS! Excellent service. Went with my family which was the largest table in the restaurant at the time. We ordered the mandarin dinner for each of us and that was a lot of food. One of the entrees was something we had never had that was supposed to be rolled up and eaten. Seeing the confusion on our faces the waitress offered to do it for us. The quality of the food was good especially the appetizers. Service was quick, attentive, and accurate. Reasonably priced for the quantity, quality, and service. We love this place and have been going here for years. The design inside has a slight diner feel with the booths and it's cozy. The food is always amazing. Tea Garden is that quintessential old fashioned hole-in- the wall Chinese restaurant that everyone hopes to find. Some friends who grew up in Arvada recommended we try it and we're so glad they did. The staff is warm and friendly. They are attentive without hovering. The food comes out quickly and is always good. We have ordered the wontons, egg rolls, and Pupu platter appetizers. My husband's go-to meal is Kung Pao beef while I like trying different things on the menu. Everything is so good. The prices are reasonable and have only slightly increased since prior to the pandemic which is saying something. We will definitely be back to Tea Garden. read more

Wow, this is a hard review, as I really want to give a better review than I'm going too. We just moved to the area a few months ago and really liked our first visit here. We were served by a younger Asian woman who seemed helpful and friendly. We ordered the combo egg foo young, beef fried rice, and chicken chop suey. They are definitely better with making the basic old school Chinese American dishes. Again, first visit was solid! Now, the trouble is consistency and general friendly service from the younger Asian woman! My wife and I were so excited about this place, only to be disappointed multi-times following our first visit. We have had lunch and dinner here several times, wanting to be regulars, but not receiving a very warm welcome. We have learned, the friendly young Asian woman, isn't so friendly. She has actually been rude the last couple visits, which is pushing us away from dinning here anymore. We just ordered pick up the other night, but now can't seem to get the food to be consistent? One time it's good, the next time it's not... very hit or miss on the quality, which is too bad! I really do want to like this place, it's just very inconsistent and the staff isn't very friendly. Still looking for a better option locally, we just haven't found anything good yet. I miss my Asian food seen in Chicago, as I'm still adjusting, sorry. I found this while driving around my new neighborhood. I love Chinese food.. so I had to try. A couple things I take into consideration in a restaurant-how busy they are and public reviews. I first came here there was a mix of reviews. They were packed..so that was good. But also talked with people coming out . And they had been in the neighborhood forever and they said this is the best Chinese food ever! I ordered the sizzling rice soup...that is my new favorite soup . 5 stars for Service and 3 stars for Food gets them 4 stars :) super friendly staff and accommodating. i ordered the General Tso chicken white meat and Pork Fried Rice. The General Tso was a bumo up from your average takeout, but not really worth me ordering it again at a sit down restaurant. The food was out within 3 minutes of me placing my order which makes me wonder if it was double fried...just way too fast! Lol i love fast service but if it is too fast it can be concerning. I was a little bummed with the pork fried rice as i thought it would be the bbq pork that is bright pink in color...I will post a pic for others to be aware of what to expect. The flavor for though is really good, just didn't care for the pork since it was chewy/fatty. I will try chicken or shrimp next time for my friend rice. For my protein I may try the same but without any breading or chicken with broccoli...the breading is too much for my taste. All in all, i won't make a special trip out here, but if I am in the area running errands I will eat here again :) Oh plus the Jasmin (free) tea was DELISH! This is a staple in Arvada that's been around for many years. I was introduced to this place old-school Americanized Chinese food.

Disappointingly disgusting. We ate here years ago and it was great so I'm not sure what happened since then? The general tsoas was dry chicken nuggets in sugar sauce, the lo mein was edible, the fried rice tasted like they just poured oil and soy sauce onto their stale rice but the worst was the schezuan beef which smelled so strongly of cat urine we threw it all out. read more

For those trying to compare this Chinese restaurant or well any Chinese restaurant to a nationwide top 10 standard, that obviously isn't the normal standard you would apply with any boutique restaurant in Denver metropolitan area.
