Chicken broccoli, fried rice, hot and sour soup, Family tofu
Yvonne J.

4.5 stars. Tea Garden was a great choice for dinner the other night. We ordered takeout and they packaged the food really well, the food was still piping hot when we got home. The chicken and tofu dish weren't too salty and had a pretty good proportion of protein and veggies. The veggies were cooked well - soft but still had a crunch. The hot and sour soup had limited ingredients, it was mainly just broth and small bits of egg and bamboo. The flavor was great, I just wish it had more things in it. The fried rice was tasty! Good flavor and not too salty. I feel like other restaurants offer more food. We did have leftovers, but not as much as when we dine in other places. We'll likely go back the next time we have a Chinese food craving!

We revisited this place for a quick review of their lunch take out. I really wanted to try other entrees but this time I wanted to confirm if the sesame chicken was as good as the last time. At lunch you get egg roll or won tons plus fried or steamed rice. Soup and tea are not included. Still we wanted a quick lunch at home so take out was our choice. My spouse had cashew chicken. I can report that once again the food was great. The sesame chicken was perfecto! It was moist and very tasty with the egg roll and fried rice. The portion was enough for two meals though someone very hungry could eat it all in one seating. I made two meals out of it. Clearly the best sesame chicken I've had in Colorado. The cashew chicken was also quite tasty. This place has been there a long time and some have commented on that even saying it seems dated. However I found it charming inside and my food was ready on time so I was in and out after paying online through their website. Now I remain anxious to try other items. The pricing is reasonable and competitive. This place remains my favorite for Chinese food and well worth a visit by those who favor Chinese dishes.

General Tso Chicken (with a few bites taken out of it).

We love coming here. The food is always good, the service is quick, and the ambiance makes you feel comfortable (they have not remodeled this place since the 90s, it feels like being in someone's home). We always split the general tso's chicken, steamed rice, and green tea. It is plenty of food for two!

I love that the delicious food comes straight from the heat to the container, but i'm just afraid of all the plastic leeching into the food because of how hot it is as a to-go order. Thick, rich, tangy…read morewith just the right kick of pepper--like a warm slap in the face from an old friend who knows you needed it. Honestly, if this soup were a person, I'd leave it everything in my will. Consistently perfect, which is saying a lot in a world full of disappointing sequels and watery broths. My dining partner, loyal as ever, ordered the sesame chicken--a classic, reliable, sticky-sweet MVP. It's the kind of dish that knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. Like your favorite 90s sitcom: comforting, predictable, and always leaves you a little happier than when you started. You can't go wrong with it unless you're one of those people who thinks ketchup is spicy. Now, me--I decided to get bold. Brave. Adventurous, even. I ordered the Sizzling Scallop and Beef because I saw the word "sizzling" and got all hot and bothered. Let's just say... the dish sizzled more in concept than execution. First, the beef and scallop themselves? Decent. The scallops had a nice sear and weren't rubbery, so no complaints there. The beef was tender-ish, not a shoe sole, and full of flavor so points for that too. But the vegetables--oh, the vegetables--were clearly having an identity crisis. Undercooked and a little stringy in that "did-we-even-try?" sort of way. I love a crisp snap pea as much as the next food snob, but I didn't come here to gnaw through a jungle. Now for the plot twist: there was fruit in the mix. Surprise! Normally I'd raise an eyebrow, but shockingly, the fruit was the best part--sweet, juicy, and weirdly harmonious with the seafood and beef. It was like a B-list actor who unexpectedly steals the movie. Didn't see that coming, but hey, at least someone showed up to perform. Final verdict: Hot and Sour Soup - Still my ride or die. Sesame Chicken - Reliable boyfriend material. Sizzling Scallop and Beef - Gave me a lukewarm hug and asked me to pretend it was fire. Would I go back? Obviously. Would I order the sizzling mystery again? Only if I'm in the mood to chew through missed potential. Stick with the classics, folks. They're classics for a reason. Next time I'll go with the mushroom beef, it was my happy place last time.

You walk in to pick up your order and they have tables blocking the entry, that's where you pay for your food. The portions are still as giant as ever, and the prices are still affordable. My wife and I had a hankering the other day for our old stomping grounds, so we jetted over there to pickup an order. It was ready in 10 minutes and two meals ran us $32. I think I pay $32 for a good cup of coffee these days!!!!!! I kid, I kid. The meal lasts you for days, you really get two giant sized portions out of it. It will probably last some of you three days. They don't skimp out here and it's incredible. They serve Asian fusion, Chinese American meals that are addictive. Or is that the MSG??? Probably so, and that's why it's delicious. I appreciated this since there was no way anything was going to tip over & spill. Very friendly phone & counter service as well. Note, you get six free Cheese Wontons when your order is more than $40. We ordered three different entrees with three different sides - Steamed White Rice, Fried Rice & Lo Mein Noodles. The sides were good, however the fried rice didn't seem fried, it was white rice with soy sauce. The Sweet & Sour Shrimp Entree was tasty - the shrimp were medium sized, cooked perfectly with a delicious sauce. The Sesame Chicken Entree was even better, the chicken was moist & tender. The beef in the Mongolian Beef Entree was great however there were way too many onions in the dish. Overall, a very satisfying meal.

The service was friendly and kind, happy to answer any of our questions we had about the menu, my friend and I both got lunch specials. The entrées then came soon after. Everything was hot steamy and fresh! I really enjoyed my sweet-and-sour chicken and fried rice. Nothing really stood out, but it wasn't bad either. It's definitely a good go to place when I wanna sit down with a friend for lunch. The price was great for all the food that we got and my friend couldn't finish her so she even got some leftovers. There's a lot of construction going around Arvada right now and this place was free from construction. I think I would definitely go back just because of the convenience of getting there and parking.

LOT FOOD FOR A GREAT COST!…read more We were HUNGRY! My Aspen (service dog loves shrimp!!) I'm the Veggie, and we were searching for a place rather close. Searching the area, we found a quiet unassuming, in a quiet neighborhood strip mall, simple place. Read the reviews, Hmmm sounds interesting. When entering in an off hour, there were other people filling the tables, "it must be good! With others' here at this time" What I found; Huge portions of lunch time food at a very reasonable cost! The Egg Drop soup was EXCELLENT, The Shrimp, well my Aspen devoured after I had one, it was plump - tender and flavorful. The Veggies, this is MY YUM and PLENTIFUL!! Fried rice - not so fried rather a steamed rice with soy, the egg roll was crisp, smaller than others (seems to be the new fashion these days) filled with wonderful veggies. Did I mention the Egg Drop Soup was DELICIOUS!!!! Our Server required being won over- at first, need to win her over with some compliments, then she smiled and giggled. For most of the time, the main service problem was that the chief waitress was often obnoxious and loud. But we put up with that until they committed an act of rudeness such that I had never experienced before in a restaurant. The events occurred on an evening in which we brought guests with us: two other adults and their two small children. They had a series of take-out orders that evening, which they were prioritizing over in-restaurant customers. For about a half hour the staff simply refused to take our order, telling us to wait and order later. Eventually, they agreed to take our drink requests---which, except for water, never came. Meanwhile, people were coming in and picking up food regularly, while we sat there and they refused to even let us get into the order queue! Finally, after we'd been there at least 45 minutes, the kids were hungry and restless, so we started to leave. The waitress saw us leaving, and came over and disingenuously asked whether we wanted to order now. We said that because of the children we couldn't wait any longer, and we left. This contemptuous treatment of faithful in-restaurant customers was too much for us, and we have never gone back.
