This is definitely a high tech coffee and tea place. Seating are first come first served. There are not really any service here unless you are ordering food, I guess. So we walked in and we were not ask if we are doing to go or sitting down. Ok. So we went up to the counter and wanted to order. The staff told us to use the touch screen IPad. So we did that. We then got our drinks and sat ourself down. No one came to clean the tables. Yes the table we sat at was dirty. Oh well. Drinks are really good but the service, cleanness and tidiness is just really off. I ordered the Almond, sesame milk tea. Loved it. read more

Interesting place with lots of seating. Order by iPad then pay at counter. They have lunch specials like chicken on rice and daily drink specials too but I was only interested in a lychee peach bubble tea. I had to inquire about the flavour mixture due to my dairy issue. Don't get anything with coconut as it has milk powder in it if you're dairy free. The man behind the counter informed me of this and was very helpful about my options. They have slush, milk tea, plain tea, smoothies with many flavour choices. I did find my peach lychee overly sweet so I'll ask about half sweet next time. The place was fairly clean but I found the bathroom to be spotless and the toilet to start singing. Check my pic and you'll understand why! Not the best bubble tea but I'd try again if in the area. read more

I can't believe this place only has an average of 3 stars! I was so impressed by the extensive bubble tea and food menu. You select your orders on an iPad then pay at the cashier. Service is very friendly and quick. They have plenty of seating inside and even TV's to watch while you wait. Tea Funny offers so many flavors and types of drinks (with/without cream, hot or cold), different types of boba (popping, jelly, pudding), and a large Asian food & dessert menu. I loved my hot taro boba which was perfect on a freezing Calgary night. I didn't see an easily accessible parking lot, though maybe there was one nearby. We just parked on the street right in front. I could see how it might be difficult to visit during the daytime. read more

I have recently visited Teafunny for a sit down lunch/snack with my fiance. Our previous visits were mostly take out, except one time we came for sit down lunch when they just opened. Back then, I would have rated them around 3-4 stars as the place looked clean, service was quick, and the ambiance was nice. Our recent visit was such a disappointment. The restaurant was quite dirty, especially the floors. It looked like it needed a good vaccuming and most of the tables weren't wiped clean. Their airconditioner was not working as well so it was so stuffy and hot inside. We ordered 2 bubble tea drinks which were extremely sweet. And we ordered teriyaki udon and pork dumplings. The udon wasn't too bad, but it was oily and salty. The pork dumplings were extremely dry and salty. We waited 50 minutes for our food as well. I would say the service has changed and their food is not worth the wait or the price. Would try other bubble tea cafes instead of coming back. read more

So my friend and I ordered two slush brown sugar drinks, and right after drinking I began to feel sick. Perhaps it is my lactose allergy, but it made me feel very unpleasant. It was a very unfortunate trip to the washroom.... then, to top it all off, my friend began to sip on the drink and inhaled a bubble. She then proceeded to choke and I had to pull over to help her. She still feels as though a piece of pearl is blocking her airway. We are now sitting in the car, deciding whether not to head to the hospital. Bubble tea from HELL!!! Damn thee! read more

On the positive side of the ledger the iPad ordering process is innovative and works well. I suspect a lot of people are attracted to the restaurant by this. Unfortunately the less positive side of the ledger far outweighs the draw of the technology. In my opinion the quality of the food would be acceptable in a food court but I expect better in a sit down restaurant. My ginger chicken reminded me of something you would find in a grocery store freezer and heat up in a microwave. My coconut milk tea was quite good (and I'm not even a tea drinker) but my daughter's hot blueberry tea was really unappealing. The speed of service also left a lot to be desired. It took quite a while to get our food and 20+ minutes after finishing our meals I finally had to walk to the front to find out if our desserts were coming. Even after that step it took another 10 minutes for them to arrive. After the long wait it was extra disappointing that the black sesame ice cream turned out to be one of the worst desserts I've ever experienced; the awful taste perfectly matched with a dry, crumbly texture. My daughter's green tea cheese cake was quite good. Overall experience was a 2 (1-1/2 if that was available) but maybe we caught them on an off day. read more

I get the Original Bubble Tea, every other day if possible. I am truly addicted! The service is awesome, and the prices are amazing! Their wings are tasty as well! I've tried Bubblemania, Tea Time, and the Bubble Tea place in T&T. This one tops them all! read more

Dude, this place is awesome. Clean and pretty looking, and you hardly have to speak to a human! Haha. (I'm so antisocial) Their vast menu is presented on iPads at each table, you order right there within seconds and the order is sent to the kitchen. Wings are super yummy and cheap and the drinks are also reasonably priced and delicious, really you cannot have a better bubble tea experience. I'm a new addict! Tip: avoid the lunch hour as it fills up with loud high school kids! Youths!! read more

Tea Funny is a modern bubble tea cafe found on Centre St. Although parking is limited (either on the street or in the parking lot) the experience is phenomenal. You can either dine in or take out. There is no seating plan basically it's a first come first serve. When you enter in the restaurant make your way either to the left or right for a table and just order from their iPad and hit send - this triggers to the servers that a new order has been placed. The iPad ordering menu is pretty simple and it's a new feature which takes away from the standard hard copy menus. Tea Funny offered bubble tea, smoothies, hot/cold teas, and other beverages. As for food selection there is a wide variety of appetizers, entrees, rice balls, wings, and dessert. Service time it's pretty quick and efficient. My girlfriend ordered watermelon slush with pearls while I ordered cantaloupe with pearls and popcorn shrimp for a snack. The drink was spectacular, yes they were made from fresh fruit. Although I wasn't too fond of the popcorn shrimp, but hey it's worth a shot. Maybe next time I'll grab something else off the menu and give it a try. There is also free wifi so you can either connect via their wifi or you can use their iPad to "surf the web" (who remembers that old phrase?) If your phone is dying, Tea Funny got you. They not only have a wall outlet but have two slots for a USB port so if you forgot your cube but have the USB cable you can easily charge your phone .... or other electronics that you might have. Tea Funny is a great place to sit back, connect with your friends, enjoy great food and bubble tea. They are a +1 in my books and would recommend to everyone and anyone. Hopefully I'll be back soon to try something else! read more

Good bubble tea. But I wouldn't eat here again. I ordered a Bento box for lunch. in the picture on the iPad you order from and the description on the iPad it said that it came with a green salad. unfortunately it came with a potato salad that included olives in it. if you're looking for a healthy option this isn't the right place. In addition you get half the amount of meat than in the picture shown. To top it off my food came out cold and the woman argued with me and asked me to pay for the salad when I asked for what was pictured and for what I actually ordered. After she checked out what the iPad she said she thought they changed it and finally brought me a side salad. It's just a shame that my experience wasn't good since the bubble tea was delicious. Lesson learned. read more

A decent establishments with modern design, and an interesting order system (order through the use of iPad). The service was average, the employees don't look happy. I recommend their specialty tea drinks (Iron Goddess Oolong Tea), I haven't tried their food, so I will update this once I've eaten. So far my only complaint is that I didn't get to see where to adjust my sugar level until someone told me that it is located at the bottom of the selection. For anyone wanting to adjust sugar level, please go through the entire selections when ordering a drink. The drink I had was just too sweet, I added milk when I came home to adjust it. read more

I was very excited to see that they offered fresh taro, something very rare in Calgary, but I was very disappointed that they mixed it with powder, which I only found out AFTER it was made and the employee confirmed when I asked why it tasted like powder and why it was purple. I was told I should've told them not to add powder to my "real fruit" order ..... how about include that in the product description or offer to correct it. Paid extra for the real deal and to avoid the powder flavour - apparently, it was to "balance" the flavour. I've had fresh taro from various places my whole life and this is the first time I've ever had fresh mixed with powder - seems like a sad explanation for a mistake or a cheap filler. read more

I always go to this place but I don't think I will keep coming back. I paid $6.99 (tax not included) for the shaved snow and I was so disappointed. After mixing it I was shocked that it's not even half of the cup. I called them to let them know but the guy told us that it has probably melted already. I told him we were just there not even 5 mins ago. I wasn't asking for a refund or another dessert. I just want them to know because it used to be a lot read more

Tea Funny: Tea Time, Fun Time! is a new joint that serves bubble teas, other specialty drinks, chicken wings and snacks. After stuffing our bellies with late night sushi, my friends and I decided that we wanted to check this place out. Tea Funny is located on the west side of center street. You walk up a small set of stairs and enter a bright white room with cute light fixtures and some old pop music playing in the background. We took a seat at a booth, the neat thing about tea funny is that they have built in iPads in the tables to view the menu, you can place your own order right at your table and it goes straight to the kitchen. You can also use the web browser if you wanted to! The crappy thing is apparently they don't have a plug in so one of the iPads at our table was already dead and after we ordered, the other iPad died. Anyway, their menu consists of categories: Flavored Milk tea, Red/Green tea, Slush, Specialty drink, Real fruit drinks, Chicken wings, Entree, and Snacks. We decided to go with a drink each and then have some chicken wings even though we were already stuffed. I asked the server what she suggested for a milk tea and she said told me the original milk tea was the best so I went with that and my friends ordered the mango slush with mango jelly and the almond slush drink. For the wings, we ordered honey garlic and spicy teriyaki. The drinks arrived shortly and I wasn't impressed with my milk tea, it was pretty tasteless to say the least...but my friends enjoyed their slush drinks! I tried the mango slush and it was AWESOME. Next time I will definitely go with a slush drink!! The wings were pretty good. They were fairly big, covered in sauce. We really enjoyed the honey garlic but weren't really big fans of the spicy teriyaki, it just didn't taste like teriyaki. Overall, this place is a totally cute joint!! You must check it out for some late night bubble tea and wings! I will definitely try some other snacks and a new drink! Hours are Mon-Thurs from 11am - 1am, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 12pm - 2am! read more

This is a clean, cool looking place with a dash of fun, making it a cool nook to hang out with some friends for teas and snacks. I like the wall stencils that look like street signs that I can't understand, but with added hearts. Wow, that didn't make sense at all! Well, it will make sense to you when you go. Along with the various sized aloe plants in happy face pots, it ads some cute quirk to the room. There's a little bit of a learning curve to ordering from the iPads in the middle of the table. If it's your first time here, you might need a quick tutorial but once you figure it out it's really beneficial because.. um, because there's an iPad in the table? I don't really know what the benefit is. I guess it saves you from having to get up an move the 8 feet to the counter and placing your order. Our hot milk teas took around 15 minutes to arrive. I think they may have forgotten about us, but I might have just been using the iPad wrong. Without a person it's really tough to say. The hot guava milk tea I ordered was super tasty - it wasn't too hot though, which makes me think they might have missed bringing them out right away. Altogether though, Tea Funny seems like they've got their act together and I'd definitely recommend it as a fun alternative to coffee shop hang out. read more

Yup this place has definitely gone to crap! Service sucks but they seem to think they deserve a tip so they add it on the bill. Came in here thinking of getting a bubble tea and maybe some chicken. Wanted to take a look at the menu first before deciding to stay or to go. If we were gonna get food we would stay. However the moment we walked in we were asked twice in a row if we were staying or going. And I asked for a minute to look at the menu first and he said okay. But 30 seconds later he asked again and it was not in a friendly manner. Being rushed to make a decision we said to go. When my partner asked questions about the drinks (such as what kind of drink the specials were) they gave us funny looks and abrupt answers. Overall the drinks were not bad but the customer service was not satisfactory, to be fair maybe they were having a bad day. read more

dropped in unexpectedly while looking for a wifi connection for my laptop. This was my first experience with automated ordering using a table's built in ipad and I loved it. I have one particular friend that every time she's in town we have to go to this place and get Tea. We always get the same thing and it's fantastic. We never get food because when they first opened they never had any vegetarian options. Since then they have expanded the restaurant and increased the amount of items on their menu and had to make adjustments for their interactive ordering system (iPads). Now I feel like the service is lacking. It used to be that you would get greeted, as you walked in you would get seated and someone would walk you through the ordering system and now you're ignored, directed to go find a seat no greetings or hello's. Hopefully you don't have any questions because if you do, the iPad system doesn't have all the answers and the girls at the front desk act completely lost and I felt like I was confusing them. I didn't see anything funny with State of the washrooms they were disgusting with black build up in the corners watermarks on all the stainless steel not well-maintained at all. read more

So I decided to give this place a try cause everywhere else is closed, worst bubble tea place in Calgary! none of their drinks looks appetizing. My strawberry green tea looks like a green and red diarrhea, supposed to be a cold drink it was warm which is disgusting. I even saw them putting tap water and little of a tea. Also my girlfriend ordered a fried scallop she got a stomach virus because maybe the scallop has been store for way too long. I would never go back there again and I do not recommend anyone going in. Don't be fooled by its nice decor your just wasting your money. Don't even know why this place has 4 stars rating when all the people I know think it sucked. read more

I just wonder what the other food options must taste like. Only reason i didnt complain was because my date didnt want me too. Only thing pleasant was the music!
