The fresh fruit bubble tea drinks are awesome! As other reviews have mentioned, you can mix up to 3 different fruits/flavors with no additional charge. We got a kiwi/avocado and a taro, both of which were delicious. Tasted very fresh and the taro root tasted earthy and more like true taro root (I would imagine) than other boba places I have been to. Drinks were made to order after we put the orders in and were ready to go quickly. They also have daily lunch specials (most of those are meat-containing and we usually eat vegetarian) but the value for those looks good. Small shop wedged into a corner on the street with several other boba places in the immediate area - don't miss out! Would definitely come back here if in the area again. read more

I got the wheatgerm milk tea. It was tasty but not wow. Everything was made fresh upon order. My sister go the bubble waffle. I ate about half of her bubble waffle. It tasted very delicious. Hi Tea is super small. It has been around for a long time. Even before Chatime. They have takeout food as well. They have a lunch special every day. I highly recommend getting that. I will definitely go back for their bubble tea or bubble waffle. It is located in an area surrounded by 6 or 7 bubble tea shops. I was craving something to drink after biking all around the city and had some time to kill before meeting up with K for dinner so I headed over to Chinatown. Looking to try a new bubble tea spot, I decided on Hi-Tea, which is located right beside Chatime. They have some Taiwanese snacks to choose from if you're hungry: curry fish balls, popcorn chicken, scallop and fries, spring rolls and chicken wings. But let's be serious, you should be here for the drinks. Bubble tea options galore. While I was waiting for my drink to be made, I saw a ton of people peering curiously at their poster size drink options. They're location is in a weirdly good spot as it's right by where a lot of people are waiting to get on and off a bus stop. Like I said, tons of options on the menu to choose from. For me, it's always real fruit bubble tea. The place is a hole in the wall with one small table to sit at along with three or four stools to sit at the counter top. - Mango avocado ($5.25) - obviously, I had to try my go to combo: mango and avocado fresh fruit bubble tea. Pretty sweet here that you can mix up to three different fruits for no extra cost. Take that all you other rip off bubble tea artists. I got mango jellies with my drink and it was good. Fruit tasted fresh, drink was refreshing, not overly sweet and just the right amount of creaminess from the avocado. I'll be back next time to try another delicious fresh fruit option. read more

The tea here is really good - strong, just milky enough and just sweet enough. I got an oolong milk tea with pearls and it was refreshing, quickly made and cheaper than the place next door. That said, the pearls were a bit disappointing - bit overcooked so it had no spring left to it. So I would recommend not getting the pearls and just getting a large tea instead. Lots of options on the menu here too, so looking forward to one day trying more of it! read more

First time I have been to Hi Tea and have to say I am pretty impressed. Love that they have fresh fruit or bubble or slush options. Not something you see in most places. Also their fresh fruit list is way more extensive than I thought it would be. Had my go to standard of watermelon and lychee and was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't as sweet as normal - guessing they don't add sugar water. Will definitely pop in next time I am thirsty and in the area. read more

I'd like to start by giving some recognition to the one worker here today, she handled 8 people's orders like a champ not for only drinks, but for chicken and the egg waffles. The drinks were great, came out quickly and so did the food. In California where I live she is doing the work of 3 or 4 on her own! Dont let the "hole in the wall" look define their establishment. Definitely my go to place when it comes to bubble tea! Been multiple times and have never been disappointed! Have yet to try any of there food since they are mainly know for there bubble tea but will try it at some point. Totally recommend their strawberry bubble tea with lychee jellies! To die for! I love Hi Tea and stop in every time I am in Calgary. They have such a great selection and at least 12 different bubbles to choose from (almost overwhelming choice). Today I had a fruit slush mixture of watermelon, blueberry, orange with lychee bubbles. Let me just say.. OMG! Lychee bubbles!!! Tiny morsels of lychee going POP! POP! POP! as they burst in your mouth, cascading their delicious lychee flavour over your taste buds. Dayum it was good! Next level of bubble tea - unlocked. I've been to several bubble tea places from B.C to Florida and my favourite bubble tea place is in my home town Calgary and have delicious milk bubble tea and have a wide variety. I ordered a mango pineapple bubble milk tea and instead of the traditional tapioca balls I chose lychee jelly and it was amazing. The lychee jelly added just the right amount of flavour to the bubble tea and they have many other types of jelly you can add. For people who don't like traditional bubble tea due to tapioca balls would love this place to death just like me. read more

I love this place! Their Taiwanese milk tea is the best and they have the perfect ice:drink ratio. My ice is almost all melted by the time I finish my drink. I don't understand why Chatime is more busy, when clearly Hi Tea is the winner. I also like playing Connect Four while waiting for my drink, but that's just my childhood nostalgia speaking. read more

I do love bubbletea... when I was in taiwan, I had a 1 dollar bubble tea daily. Its a great way to start the day. Hi tea is a pretty good bbt plave in calgary. Very Very friendly service and well priced bubble tea. They give you more for the price you pay than chatime next door. They also make yummy bubble waffle (make sure you have time because sometimes the waffle takes a bit of time to make). When I crave a matcha bbt or regular bbt I head to Hi tea. If I want fancy roasted milk tea then I go to chatime. read more

This is Calgary's hidden gem for bubble tea! I'm a regular customer here and highly recommend this place for quick street food and boba. First off- it's cheap! Cheaper than most bubble tea joints in Calgary. The location is questionable (it's cornered and easy to miss)- it's not a dine in- you'd pick up your drink and food and then go. They have daily specials and I would recommend everything food wise EXCEPT their chicken wings, that's a huge pass for me (it was so dry I couldn't even finish 1 wing). Must try for food is their garlic or spicy popcorn chicken, fish and chips, curry balls, and their egg waffles! As for drinks, green apple green tea, vanilla black milk tea, and coffee slush are my recommendations. Their tea is excellent- just the right balance for sweetness. The workers are friendly and though there's only ever 2 (or sometimes 1) working, I wait no longer than 5-10 minutes for an order. read more

Hi tea is on a small corner outside the dragon city plaza. The bubble tea here is much more different than other bubble tea shop. Here's variety regular milk tea, and smoothie bubble tea, it's amazing. And the staffs are friendly, they gave us small pieces of fried chicken for try, hope us come to buy next time. And they speak Cantonese as well, I'm feeling the warmth from this language, our relationship have been closer, and I feel like I'm in my home city. read more
