Anybody notice the gentrification of Philadelphia's Chinatown? Tea Do must be part of the new wave of restaurants and eateries turning Phillys hole-in-the-wall establishments into the "hip thing." There are a several tea options along 10th Street and Tea Do is the most stylish along the corridor. What's cool? Novel specialty drinks and usage of variety of jellies and tapioca pearls. If you're confused by the menu, then randomly select any of the flavors annotated with a circle brush mark. You can't go wrong with any of these. What's not as cool? Limited Japanese fare menu. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. Takoyakis, Onigris, and mochi balls is an appropriate fare for a Japanese themed boba tea house. Compared to Tea Magic down the street, the selection at Tea Do seems lacking. Again, not that it's a bad thing. Love TeaDo, I used to live Atlanta, so I've tried my fair share of boba teas, I think TeaDo has a very good thing going on right now. My favorite is the Jasmine Milk Tea and this is my staple for every boba store. Gotta say, TeaDo's is the best right now. Absolutely perfect floral tones and it tastes like the tea was actually brewed with sweetness and milk in mind instead of using the usual powder, tea, and power combo, it's somewhat like SweetHut in that sense. Boba is quality, right amount of chewy and sweet, I've been there several times but the boba was always consistent. They're always busy but they have the employees to back it up. Love it! read more

I decided to deviate from my usual Bread Top House bubble tea and try a new place. I heard good things about Tea Do, so wanted to try it out. When you first walk in, the vibe you get is super fobby, but also inviting and light and spacious. The tea and smoothie menu is extensive and the service is very fast. I tried the green coconut tea with bubble and it was tasty, although it didn't beat out the honeydew at BTH. Next time I'll try one of the fruit versions to see if they use real fruit. read more

Happy to have another tea house in Chinatown with a wide variety of drink choices. I remember the days when I had to accept sub-par bubble tea at restaurants because there was no where else to get it. Only complaint - if you ask for your drink to be hot, it's hit or miss - either it's actually hot, or it's barely lukewarm. read more

Definitely a solid bubble tea spot and it's a plus that they're open late. My favorite is their avocado smoothie with bubbles and their kani onigiri (triangle shaped rice ball filled with spicy crab and wrapped with toasted seaweed). Some of their lighter teas have a jasmine tea taste that comes across a little too strong (floral notes) for me but there's enough variety on the menu that I can't really complain. They seem to always be busy when I'm there; probably because they make it pretty comfortable for people to lounge around and study, mingle with friends, or even play a few games of jenga or cards. Every time that I come to Philly, I must have Tea Do! I like the selection of flavors that they have as well as their snacks. There are tables that you can sit and hang out with your friends and if you feel like playing games, they even have some games available. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. Usually, I get anything that is pineapple flavor with boba. This time, I tried the green tea passion fruit with mango jelly. It was really good! The jelly was shaped like stars. Teado is my go to spot for bubble tea in Chinatown. I live in Chinatown and have tried many bubble tea places and Teado is the best. Always has good music and seems to be on the crowded side majority of time. My favorite is green coconut milk tea no boba. It's refreshing and tastes so good. So many options of bubble tea here. I've never sat around for a drink. Usually just come and go, but it does seem like a nice place to hang out and play some games. ONIGIRI! YES! I love this place. Literally love it. I stopped in once during the night market last year and can't believe I never came back before yesterday! The staff is adorable, quick and precise. We sat at the bar and had our black milk tea that they seal up fresh made in case you wanna take it with you and don't wanna risk a spill and our avacado onigiri. I haven't had this stuff since I was in Japan (or making it myself) and I was so happy I could burst. Pricing is reasonable. $6 for a large tea (you can get bubbles in anything) is a little expensive but if you're not going all the time, it's fine. Onigiri was 2.5 each and giant! Yum! They also have takoyaki and shumei that I'm going to try next time. A really good place to sit and wait if you have some time between train rides as they have all sorts of games you can pass the time with! Totally recommend this place. read more

I really don't know what the hype about this place is? I must've come after school or something because there were kids everywhere! I managed to place my order, I don't even remember what it was, it was on their specials though. I had high expectations because of all the good reviews, but wow, this is worst than the cheap boba joints where I'm from in SoCal! ~$4-5 for mediocre teas? Me thinks not. It was too sweet and barely had any jelly in it even though they made it sound so good on the menu! This place really stands out in the middle of old Chinatown.The whole atmosphere of the interior of the tea shop certainly has the more modern vibe compared to the rest of Chinatown, and while I like that they wanted a more chill, sleek, and trendy look to it for the younger people, I would have preferred some more light because personally, too much dark lighting or black color can be slightly intimidating, uncomfortable, and uninviting. Everyone working there was very friendly though, and they were very patient with me as I asked about each part of the menu. I was pretty indecisive, as there were so many options and types of bubble tea to choose from! In the end, I got the Passion Fruit smoothie that came with the mango jelly on the bottom, which is my go-to flavor when I take a trip to new places. It was pretty solid, and I really liked the mango jelly. The passion fruit was a bit more sour than usual though, and I wish that they had a way to make the jello and the smoothie mix in a bit better too. Overall, it wasn't bad. I wish I could have tried their food, such as the Gyoza or the Onigiri that I heard so much about, but maybe next time when I didn't visit after eating a bowl of house special pho and summer rolls from Choochoo train. This place gets crowded in the weekend but it is pretty much one of the better ones fir bubble tea in Philly. Tea do hands down has probably the best smoothies in China town. My favorite is their avocado smoothie. It has tons of flavor and tastes the best with bubbles! They also have pretty good takoyaki and onigiri's. I don't have a specific choice on which onigiri I enjoy the most because they're all great to me. BUT, if you are new to onigiri's I recommend trying their kani (crab that you find in sushi) or their spam. They serve it with this pink red sauce. From the taste of it, it tastes like chipotle mayo. I give this place a 4 star because of their environment. The environment is really nice when its not busy but when it IS busy, you can hardly even walk 1 step to get to the counter. The place is really crowded and you have no idea where the line even starts. The organization is all over the place. You're literally shoulder to shoulder with someone and you have to constantly say 'excuse me' just to move in any way. The door also gets jammed up and it doesn't help trying to get INTO the store when people are loitering and sitting on the steps in front of the entrance. Overall, its honestly the frustration that i get whenever I stop by when its busy that makes me give this place 4 stars. I honestly dont bother purchasing from this place whenever its jam packed with people. It's not worth it enough for me to wait in line, get cut in front of, and have no personal space for a smoothie or a tea. read more

Nice little busy bubble tea shop! I was never a huge fan of Tea Do, but only because of how overpoweringly sweet every tea I had here was. But I gave it several tries and grew to like it's distinct flavors. They're known for their fresh fruit blends and smoothies and chic, modern scenery. It's always busy with lines out the door and not much place to sit unless you're in briefly to wait for your order. I get a bit of a coffee taste when drinking their black bubble milk tea and it's a nice change. Their jasmine green bubble milk tea is very nice as well, though it's a tad bit strong. I came here on recommendation from a friend, and it did not disappoint! The place was packed when I arrived. It was definitely a little frustrating to order because it was so crowded, and the staff was clearly overwhelmed. The menu had pretty interesting options, so I opted to try the lychee tea with the lychee jelly. I had been craving it for a while, and not every bubble tea place has it. It was very good, with a nice level of sweetness and a chilling refreshing taste. The jelly was also a nice add on for the tea. My only complaint with Tea Do is just the service at times can be slow just due to the amount of customers they serve. Hey, when there's a lot of customers, means the place is good! I don't understand the great reviews. I've had better bubble tea before. I got the Thai iced tea and it was very underwhelming. It wasn't sweet enough and tasted too milky. Came here to do some work a few times and I don't recommend it. The place is way too small and way too much movement going on to try and focus on your laptop. However, the drinks are delicious. They have a wide variety of teas and shakes but the food menu is a little small. I recommend it for teenagers and preteens. I'm not a parent yet but it's very teen friendly. read more

I got the Thai Tea here, which was good but nothing too special. My friends got a variety of different drinks and were all happy with theirs as well. The drinks were fresh, the boba was well made, and I liked how most of the drinks weren't too sweet. While the drinks were pretty standard, the environment was stellar. It's a great place to chill with people, with ambient lighting and lots of games, like Jenga. Seating may be hard to find for large groups though because the room size is small. I had a really difficult time trying to rank this place. Looking at other reviews, I can understand where a LOT of them come from, but this review is my personal review of the place, based on my sole experience with the location. I ordered the milk tea with bubbles, figuring it was a good way to evaluate the place. The tea in itself seemed too sweet, and the bubbles were quite a bit overcooked; way too mushy. Judging by the massive line, it seems that the mileage that you get from this place HEAVILY varies. I could imagine some of their other more creative teas having potential, but it seems a bit disappointing that this place is lacking in fundamentals. The food options, as well as the tea options, are extensive, and you pay a small but noticeable premium for both. Customer service is minimal, which for Chinatown establishments is nothing new, but because the place seems newer and the decor seems more vibrant than your usual Chinatown joint, I guess I was expecting better. I guess you can't do much when the place is over capacity. Main point? This place is PROABLY a solid half-step up from places around here if it's not busy. If it is, it's probably a solid whole step down. Stay away if you spot crowds. read more

I am in love with this place!! At the same time so sad that it's in Philly when I live in Dallas. Was in Philly this past weekend and stayed with my brother in Chinatown. He said this is the place he goes for boba tea and it's the best in Chinatown. He was right! It's so damn good! So good that we went here three times in a two and a half day period! I had to have it daily because I knew I'd regret it if I didn't when I headed home. My go to drink is always jasmine milk tea so naturally I went with that during all three visits. It was fantastic! The right amount of sweetness and just enough milk. It came with perfectly cut grass jelly. My sister had the red dragon twice and loved it!! It tasted like the Vietnamese dessert, Che dau do. So refreshing and delish!! Her third visit she had the taro milk tea and said it tasted the same as all others she's had...nothing special. Now I'm back in Dallas and am dreaming of Tea Do daily!!! My brother is moving home this weekend so I have no reason to visit in the future which means no more Tea Do ever again! What a sad thought. This place has become a favorite for my boyfriend and me. It's the cheapest bubble tea I've found so far, and it's delicious. The bubbles have a great texture. 12 ounces (which is plenty for me) is $2, and 16 ounces is $3. If you don't specify, they give you the larger size. I've only had the traditional bubble tea. I love it hot (especially with the recent weather) and with 50 sugar. I just realized on my last visit that you can also choose 0 or 30% (or 70%). I like it at 50%, but I'm going to try the 30% next time. My boyfriend had the taro milk tea with grass jelly his first time. He meant to have the bubbles as well, but they misunderstood him. The bubble tea was overwhelmingly sweet, the grass jelly was good. After that, though, I converted him to a hot black milk bubble tea fan ;) I give this place 4 stars because it's extremely crowded and the wait can get a little long.
