With their menu now having a seasonal rotations I am constantly in for a delightful surprise. I was last there during the Christmas Menu. My favorite sandwich there is hands down the Smoked Salmon but that Roast Beef Crostini was fantastic. As it was Christmas I was there when everything had the cutest Christmas Trees. Even though the setting is really quite intimate and close and can at times get loud you do not really feel that when you're seated at your table. The staff is super attentive and great at making you feel welcomed. I definitely will be back in the near future!

The ordering process was easy thanks to their amazing staff. Their guidance from online ordering to communication over the phone and text, they made our event successful and memorable. There was 5 of us , with a moderate appetite. So, We went with two orders of the "Catering - Sandwiches TO GO" and one order of the "Catering - Scones TO GO". Then our choice of their teas: 1oz Sakura Cherry Rose and 1oz of their Cookies and Cream, which is great with milk and sugar btw. 1oz =at least 12 pours of the tea. If you want 2oz =24 pours of tea. The sandwiches were also delicious, a cute tiny bite of flavor. Which to this day I wish I ordered more since I'm more of a savory girlie. You can choose the sandwiches from their catering or seasonal menu and it comes in 4 pieces. We ordered: Sandwich flavors 24 pieces 1 Sweet egg salad (4) 1 Smoked Salmon with Dill Creme (4) 1 Nutella & Strawberry (4) 1 roasted veggies & hummus (4) 1 Crab & Cheese (4) 1 Cucumber & Avocado (4) My personal Favorites were the Smoked Salmon with Dill Crème and Roasted veggies & Hummus. The scones only available flavors were vanilla bean & earl grey and it also comes with potted cream and jam packed in a to-go cup. If you decide to host a little tea party with your girlfriends, I highly recommend trying them out.

Once we were seated, we were given the menu and invited to select our tea. Since I wanted my friend to feel extra special, I chose the Celebratory Afternoon Tea Set, which included two glasses of champagne and a cake (forgot to take a pic of the cake). To be honest, we didn't think the afternoon tea would be filling and had planned to head to Orchids afterward for more food. We were definitely mistaken...the pastries filled us up more than expected! The highlight for me was the variety of pastries. Most afternoon teas I've had elsewhere focus heavily on sandwiches, but Halekulani offers a fun and unique selection of sweet treats that made the experience feel a little different. The main downside was the birds. They frequently flew into the dining area and tried to eat the food, which made it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the experience.

They tried to make improvements by renovating the counter which was okay but honestly I liked the other classic look where we could see what kind of fish was available. They also stopped the BYOB because they started to sell alcohol. Actually you can still BYOB but the corkage fee is ridiculously high so not worth paying it. Despite these changes I was still willing to make this our go to place for sushi. My low rating is because they ruined the place by making it MANDATORY to order the omakase. I don't want to be forced to get the omakase when I know what I like to eat and that's what I want to order. I've been going here for so many years and I am truly disappointed that loyal patronage means nothing to this family owned business. Sho is still awesome and I'm sorry that he has to be subjected to these changes too. He seemed so much happier before they made these so called "improvements ". If they change their policy back to allow people to order Ala carte without mandating the omakase I would return. Not sure if that will ever happen. If customer loyalty means anything to them, perhaps they will. We shall see....

Ritsu called back, in less than 10 mins, and let me know they were able to schedule 2 for Friday's demo. 3. We arrived on Friday and found out we were the only ones attending the demo. I was happy being able to visit but felt so lucky because it was going to be an intimate demo. The space is near Fort DeRussy and there's parking if you need it - just call them and they'll guide you. 4. It was held in the Waialae Ballroom on a Saturday afternoon with lunch being served for all the guests. What a beautiful location where you can see the lush garden just outside, the pacific ocean was a few yards away when you're done eating, you're free to roam the area and see the beautiful architecture and structure of this fabulous hotel. I was not able to play tourist as this party had to end by 2pm and I had commitments thereafter. But for future hotel guests information, they also have dolphins for you to see. The food here was incredible and of good quality. Good for any type of gatherings of any size breakfast, lunch or dinner. Bartenders and service at the bar was even better! The amount of attention every table was receiving was amazing, glasses were never empty and always started with a full pour. Self parking was completely full, although valet parking service was a better idea. Keep in mind this is a full service 5 star property located in Kahala/Waialae. They offered us cold water and treated us like we were VIPs. Lucky for them my husband is a generous tipper! The beach is lovely there and we enjoyed it more than once. This is a luxury resort, not new, but the ground are beautiful. There is a Dolphin Quest experience available here. For a price one can swim, pet, and have different interactions worth the dolphins. You can watch the dolphins for nothing. Regardless of how you may feel about captive animals performing for human profit, this is one of the most humane, they say. The people doing the Quest looked happy. We went to two different bars. The pool bar is a beautiful setting, the cocktails were delicious, the service was adequate , the waiter was a jerk. He wore goofy, rainbow reflective sunglasses. I felt once he found out we were not regular guests, he did not care about pleasing us. I was a little embarrassed as we were treating our cousins from Missouri to the Aloha culture. He was adding a 22% service charge, so he didn't care. We had to ask for everything. We ordered 3 things to share, we asked for side plates. He pointed out there were liners under the bowls, 3 plates for 5 people. I was glad he added service as My husband and I usually over tip and I would have, and then resented it. For a fancy resort I was underwhelmed. 3 and 1/2 really but they get the extra half because the other staff we met were lovely.

When you enter, you'll see some indoor seating, the coffee prep area and a display case of some of their cakes. It's a cozy spot but clean and white. My most recent visit was to pick up a birthday cake for a friend. He's been talking about it so I figured it would be something nice to surprise him with. Hopefully he enjoys the surprise and is able to share the cake with all his loved ones. Due to the holidays, Lady M is busy and sells out so preordering is best. I was just extremely lucky they had a Signature cake available the day I called. Unfortunately, they don't hand write Happy Birthday on the cake but they did provide me a complimentary Happy Birthday cake topper which was nice. Overall great cake option for any occasion.
