tldr; - Shave ice is better than Matsumoto's - Starbucks Coffee that's just as good as Starbucks Rec7 Cafe is my not so secret secret spot for shave ice. It's very unassuming at first glance, but really is worth a visit. Their shaved ice is always on point and tastes especially good with ice cream. (Imo it's better than Matsumoto's) Also, I was impressed that they make Starbucks drinks that legit taste like Starbucks. Their drink menu also has a lot of other options if you don't drink coffee. They also sell Sage Creamery ice cream pints and have small snacks and instant ramen if you're craving some after going to the pool. If you don't want to drive and eat, there is a lot of covered open outdoor seating. Rec7 Cafe is such a gem in the neighborhood.

    Matsumoto large 2 flavor

No Mililani HOA card to use cafe. Shave ice is not very fine shaving in quality,. Limited flavor selection 8 unusual flavors as compared to other shave ice vendors (mountain shave ice in Waikele behind Safeway) cash only , or other places in Haleiwa (Matsumoto , always busy but line moves fast , large is very large for the $ plenty of flavors and Aoki''s also I heard is good.) Overall just: mediocre , 1.5 stars. Rec center 7 charges for a cup of ice water! If you ask for extra syrup you end up with a 1/2 cup of syrup and they won't give you any more shaved ice . Better to order regular sized or large and then they will add more syrup for free. If you hit under flavored iice. Cheap small wooden spoons. Prep time varies from 5-10 minutes . Outside seating. CC accepted, reward program , buy 8 get one free. Prepared ice cream available. Ice machine good value for $. Also hi price Starbucks cafe. Avg. quality, for all top coffees ( up to $6+)/3 If I get a cravings I go for the drive. Waikele/Haleiwa. Matsumoto large 2 flavor..:

My go to for shave ice on a hot day. Heck, I go even if it's not hot so who am I kidding. I love getting the lihing mui and lilikoi flavors. The ice is very fine and not chunky, just how I like it. You can add mochi balls, ice cream, etc. They also sell Starbucks coffee and other treats so check this place out if you're in Mililani.

Rec 7 Cafe serves Starbucks beverages at slightly cheaper prices

When Mililani Town Association first announced that they were opening a cafe serving Starbucks in Mililani Rec 7 I thought they were crazy! Seriously, how many Starbucks does Mililani need? Well...apparently 4 as I'm now here at least 3 times a week. The cafe is more like a small coffee stand serving Starbucks beverages and locally made beverages. But if you're a MTA card holder, you can enjoy your coffee inside the free Internet cafe, by the pool, or by the playground while your Keiki play. Or if you come during the evening on the 2nd Friday of the month you can catch Open Mic and get deep discounts off beverages. Since Rec 7 Cafe is not a retail Starbucks cafe, you can not use any Starbucks rewards and will not receive stars. However the cafe prices are slightly cheaper than Starbucks and have their own rewards program. Jessica, the cafe manager, is super sweet, makes you feel special by greeting you by name-even if you're at the rec center for other reasons than coffee (crazy, right!), and makes strong but smooth coffee! She is also attentive and welcomes any suggestions for improving the cafe.

    Free Samples!!!.

I find this to be the best Starbucks on island. The staff is super friendly and after only a few visits remembered my buddies and I on a first name basis. The coffee has always been on point and unlike other Starbucks there are local bakery vendors that deliver fresh pastries. The R7 cafe offers Starbucks drinks for a discounted prices, a reward system, and there's Internet cafe right across the hall that's study friendly.

    Cute blackboard hand-drawn by staff!

Surfers has been one of the OG coffee shops in Central Oahu and is a popular spot!…read more Drinks: As of recently, I've been loving an iced dirty tiger spice chai. The chai is pretty sweet on its own so I add 2 shots of espresso to cut thru that sweetness and add a teeny bit more caffeine to the drink. They also have seasonal drinks that stay for a few months at a time. My favorite seasonal drink was in the summer -- I believe it was a haupia latte (cold foam on top was sooooo good with the coffee). Food: If I order food, it'll be the bacon burrito w/sauce. They also have other sweeter options for food (mochi waffles, avo toast, etc) Of the countless times I've been to Surfer's, there's a mixture of people - some locked in doing work, others catching up with friends, people reading their Bibles, tourists passing through checking out a local coffee shop, etc. Because of this, it can get pretty loud for a coffee shop, so just FYI if you plan on going there to do work! Overall, love Surfers :) Great vibes, amazing staff, and I'll always keep coming back here Parking: Back lot parking (located on Ohai St) or street parking (Kam Hwy) WiFi: Yes | Bathroom: Yes

Let's just say this place changed A LOT over the past years. Service: 3/5 Waited about 5 minutes to get my order taken. There was a couple in front of me and the worker was chatting with them only. I was not aware of what she was doing until I realized I was waiting for a bit so I looked for myself and saw she was making a waffle cone. Would have appreciated if she told me "Be right with you!" She at least said thank you for waiting. Service used to be a bit more efficient from what I remembered in the past. While we were inside and eating our ice cream, 2 parties came in. They were waiting for about 3 minutes and I saw one of them looking around for the worker who went to the back. All we did was just shake our heads at this moment... Food: 3/5 Holy, these scoops though too. My sister and I paid $11 total for these tiny kid looking scoops. Ice cream tasted good but tastes mediocre now. I wanted a fruity flavor so I got the honeydew flavor that tasted like a melona without the stick. My sister's peanut butter and strawberry one was pretty good. However, I remember when they used to have flavors that I could not get elsewhere but it feels pretty basic nowadays. They give bigger single scoops at Baskin Robbin's for the same price or even a couple cents more. Ambiance: 5/5 I say there's ample enough seating and it feels clean and comfortable. I like sitting near the window but I just don't like that their one and only trash can is right next to that table. Verdict: I am not sure if I will be coming back. I noticed their flavors don't change as much as they used to. I remember being excited to see what's new but after today it seems like they been keeping things the same for awhile now. Between the size of the scoops, service, and the flavors I am not sure if I want to come back.
